December 2018 Haul!

Or actually, this is not a December haul. Because everything I ordered in December haven’t arrived yet due to postal services being so awfully slow here around Christmas time, or around black Friday, or anytime really. Point being, except one little thing I picked up in store I didn’t get any of my December hauls yet. But I did get a few things I ordered in November, so we will have some new stuff to go through anyway.

So this is everything I added to my collection in December. Only pretty things off course, but this looks very modest compared to my November haul which I recommend reading if you 1.Like makeup porn or 2.needs a confirmation that I am not sane. Because I did some serious hauling that month!

My Violet Voss Flamingo palette finally arrived (I think I ordered it in October actually). I fell in love with the looks of it since it was released and I aaaalmost made an order from Sephora because ages before it reached Europe. But I forgot about it, and thought I didn’t really need it. Until I found it on sale at BeautyBay! Now I am very happy I picked it up. It’s so fun and summery. In other words perfect for the season right!

The Juvia’s Place Serafino blush is a gorgeous peach blush. It’s so pigmented but blends nicely on the face. I have really been loving this! The Balm Mary Dew Manizer was the only thing I picked up in store. I do love the powder version so I decided to give this liquid one a try. It looks very similar to the original, just a bit more subtle.

This beautiful Mary Kay blush was a Christmas gift from a friend. I just think the pattern is so lovely I barely want to use it, but it’s a gorgeous color! A toned down peach with a satin finish. So lovely!

And last but not least came some contributions to my Juvia’s Place collection! When I get my December order I will have all the palettes except the Warrior II. So my mission of collecting all Juvia’s Place palettes are soon completed. These palettes have such an amazing formula and the quality is so consistent! Not to mention all the gorgeous color stories. Forever a big time fan of Juvia’s Place palettes and I am so happy to have the Festival Palette, The Afrique Palette and the Nubian Palette in my collection.

Did you pick up something fun this month? Or are you doing a low-buy as a new years resolution? I am going to try to not pick up as many palettes, but it’s so hard!

Also, please add me on Instagram if you haven’t. I would love to see you there too!

Violet Voss Pro Highlighter Palette Rose Golden – Review and Swatches!

I am totally addicted to highlighters! I got a drawer full of them and I just keep reaching for new ones when I shop for makeup. It is just one of those products that I am drawn too and that tempts me the most. No wonder then, that I have most highlighter shades I can imagine, and it gets harder and harder to get something unique.

At first glance the Violet Voss Pro Highlighter Rose Gold Palette does not seem to offer anything special. Six beautiful, but not unique shades reaching from champagne to peach to true rose gold. Or wait a minute! Is there a duochrome in there? Yes, it is! Do the shades work as blush-toppers? Yes, absolutely! So I guess this is more versatile and special than your average highlighter palette after all.

But lets take a moment to talk about the formula. Because unique and interesting shades does not help if the formula is bad. Personally, I LOVE the formula on these highlighters. Pigmentation is there for sure, and you can get a really intense glow, but also a more subtle work-friendly glow if you use a light hand. Got to love highlighters that can do it all right? And the consistency is like a buttery dream. It is so smooth it almost feels like a cream. Just wonderful.

But lets get to the swatches to see what these highlighters have to offer!

Blossom – Pale gold champagne. Perfect for pale skin, and it has a nice rose golden undertone. Also great in the inner corner of the eyes and on the brow bone.

Rouge – Peachy rose gold with a duo-chrome finish. This one should be great on both pale and medium skin tones.

Tea Rose – True rose gold. For my pale skin it is too dark to be a highlighter, but it does work as a beautiful glowy blush or a blush-topper. I think this would look amazing on medium to dark skin though. Still, it is pigmented enough to be a very pretty eyeshadow aswell!

Fleur – This one is also a stunning duo-chrome. In my opinion it is a pinky-peach shade with a soft lilac/blue shift to it. Very stunning and unique. Think this will work better for fair to medium skin, at least on the cheeks.

Petals – This one is the most golden shade of all of them, and I think it will be one of those shades that will work with any skin tone. Keep in mind I myself have fair skin, so I am unfortunately not able to see it live on other skin tones. I just let you know how I imagine it to work.

Bloom – This one is also very much rose gold, but slightly more peachy than Tea Rose. For my fair skin this is more of a blush, but I am sure it looks lovely on darker complexions than mine.

You can, if you really like to glow to the moon and back, wet the brush for a more intense metallic look. For me that is actually too much. I am more than happy enough with the glow I can get with a dry brush, which is pretty glowing also!

On of the things I like about this palette is that there is one pale shade like Blossom because that can be used to mix with the shades that are originally a bit too dark for a customize suitable shade. That means that I can get good use out of every single shade in the palette.

The packaging is also very nice with the rose printed cardboard. But, it is very very heavy! Gives it a very luxurious feel, but weights about the same as 3 Anastasia Glowkits meaning it is a bit on the heavy side for travel.

My overall opinion is that this is a well made good quality highlighter palette and I am happy to have it in my collection since it has both wearable and unique shades, and as a bonus some of the shades can double as a blush or blushtopper. And we must not forget how gorgeous rose gold eyelid are! There highlighters are more than pigmented enough to be worn as eyeshadow aswell. Overall, a solid product! I did after all feature this in my November monthly favorites so the love is real.
