Throwback Thursday Makeup Look – Dior Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette “Stylish Move”

About time I pulled out one of my old luxury palettes. I don’t very often reach for these tiny palettes. I am trying to change that habit. Because they are indeed quite handy. Many of these small palettes with 4-6 shades have a very cohesive color story that makes it super easy to match the shades together.

That is also the case with this “Stylish Move” palette from Dior with its nice selection of pinks, taupe and auburn.

I did one simple smoky look with it. For me this could be worn to almost any occasion. Just deepen the look a bit by adding some more of the deep auburn shades, or use a lighter hand for an everyday look.

IMG_20180526_231919_195.jpg

Is it just me or do any of you have the same experience as me, that luxury brands rarely have very pigmented shadows? I mean I’ve tried YSL, Lancôme, Dioe, Guerlain and so on and they all give me the same experience. The pigmentation is medium. It is like luxury brands rather makes eyeshadows that are very user friendly and more for classic or proper beauty makeup, and they don’t make eyeshadow for the bold creative looks. Not to say that they are bad, on the contrary the shadows are really good, I just get the impression that they are made more for something subtle and classic.

With that in mind this palette makes an excellent everyday palette. It is also very convenient since all shades go so well together and you can easily just grab this out of your bag and do a nice look without thinking to much about it. The palette helps you make the look just by being nicely arranged with only colors that go well together.

It is a long time since I picked up one of these smaller luxury brand palettes. I tend to be more tempted by the bigger and bolder palettes, but I am so pleased with this that I really should reach for it more. I know I say that in almost every Throwback Thursday Makeup Look post, but that’s kind of the point with these posts too. Finding old stuff in your collection that you want to use again!

This is kind of more of a fall palette in my eyes though, so I may keep it in my drawer until the weather gets a bit colder (who am I joking, it is 5 degrees C today).

Did you take a dive into the old part of your collection lately? It can be so much fun so I highly recommend going for the occasional “shop-your-stash-hunt”.

Flower power makeup look!

I am in a spring mood lately. and nothing says spring like a colorful makeup look with lots of flowers! So I pulled out my beloved Certifeye The Tropical Wonders Palette, my go-to when I want to do something colorful, and created this look.

IMG_20180321_191939_651.jpg

Products used:

  • Certifeye The Tropical Wonders – Waterfall, Fruit Dover, Swamp Bermuda, Bonobo.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro60.
  • Lancôme Volume-à-Porter Mascara.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • NYX Faux Whites Inner Eye Brightener – Mintcream.
  • Eylure Definition Eyelashes – 121.
  • Nailart flower stickers and pearls form Ebay.

This is really the lazy girls version of getting pretty flowers on their eyelids. The really talented people take their time to hand draw them with a white liner. I am one of the lazy kind and use the stickers meant for nails.

Hope you like it! Make sure to hit me up on Instagram and Twitter if we are not friends there already.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Throwback Thursday Makeuplook – Sugarpill Burning Hearts Palette.

I remember back in 2012 when I picked this up I was still working on my masters degree and was a poor student. I didn’t have nearly the amount of makeup as I do now, and I was in big lack of a yellow, and a red, and an orange. I just didn’t have any color under the sun.

IMG_20180313_185748_826.jpg

This guy got very tempting to me because this was THE palette people used to create sunset makeuplook. This is a sunset makeuplook quad. Simple as that. Every time you saw an artist create a sunset makeuplook it was almost certainly that they would have used either this quad or some MAC shadow. So I picked this up with my hard earned money, and had so much fun with all those sunset looks I created.

IMG_20180313_185811_849.jpg

I actually have a pretty decent dent in the purple shade because that is one of the most beautiful red tones purples I own, even to this day. So it still happens I reach for this if I want a great purple in my looks. So even if it is old it is still going strong.

IMG_20180313_185902_352.jpg

Just to take a walk down memory lane I had to make a sunset inspired cut-crease.

IMG_20180313_190730_231.jpg

  • Sugarpill Burning Hearts QWuad – Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Love +, Poison Plum.
  • Tarte Buried Treasure Eyeshadow Palette – Plank, Booty, Palm.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel EYeliner 24 H – Black.
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Mobster.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara – Black.
  • Kiko Vibrant Eye Pencil – 604.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro60, Bro10.

IMG_20180313_185836_909.jpg

This quad, even though it is very old, are still being sold. So if you want a little quad to make sunset makeuplooks with, or if you just want to get your hands on a killer purple shade, then it is still very possible. This is actually to this day the only Sugarpill product I own. I feel like the brand is not talked about that much. But I would like to know a bit more about what they have to offer, so I would really appreciate any product recommendations if you have tried anything!

1 Palette, 2 Makeup looks- Zoeva Opulence!

There should be no secret that I am a fan of Zoeva eyeshadow palettes. The brand was even featured among my top three affordable brands for 2017, and you can have a read about it here if you fancy it!

Opulence is a beautiful and different palette. Whats great is that you can do both wearable and daring looks with it. So I tried to do one of each, with one using the popping red and blue from the palette, while the other look I think would be suitable for very many occasions.

You know the drill, the list of products are under each picture.

IMG_20171224_141427_551.jpg

  • Zoeva Opulence Palette – Get Your Glory, Koh-I-Noor, Golden Years, Queen for Day, Imperial, High Chair.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro10, Bro60.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24h – Black.
  • Kiko Kajal Kôhl Pencil – 109.
  • Lancôme Volume-a-Porter – Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Huda Beauty Lashes – Scarlett #8.

IMG_20171224_141407_139.jpg

  • Zoeva Opulence – The Only Delight, Sense of Movement, Imperial, Industrial Fortune.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro70, Bro50, Bro,20, Bro30.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Lancôme Volume-a-Porter – Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Huda Beauty Lashes – Scarlett #8.

There will soon be a full review of the palette in use by the end of this week, so stay tuned if you are interested in that!

Throwback Thursday Makeuplook – Sigma Paris Eyeshadow Palette!

The Sigma Paris palette was a limited edition palette released in 2012. It was a collab with 6 beauty YouTubers creating this palette deciding everything from the shades, packaging brushes and so on.

IMG_20180228_194413_993.jpg

The result: Very pretty! It has different 8 eyeshadow shades and 3 blushes. It also came with 2 brushes. One angled blush brush and one eyeshadow brush. I still have them both and they are still going strong! I find the travel size blush brush to be perfect for my face since I am quite small and normal sized blush brushes are a bit too big.

IMG_20180228_194445_013.jpg

I hardly use this palette, and I was surprised to realize it is actually probably around 5 years (I didn’t buy it upon release, but just when it was getting discontinued). The shades are really pretty, but as you can see there are none of those important basic shades in here, so I had to call for Urban Decay Ultimate Basics for some assistance. With her help I managed to kind of pull together two looks, and here they are!

IMG_20180301_111139_630.jpg

  • Sigma Paris Palette – Elysèes, Notre Dame, Eiffel, Triomphe, Versaille.
  • Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics – Pre-Game, Lockout, Blow.
  • Lancôme Volume-À-Porter Mascara – Black.
  • MakeupGekk Gel Liner – Immortal.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro70, Bro10.
  • Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil – 405.
  • Ardell Faux Mink Lashes – 810.

IMG_20180301_111209_551.jpg

  • Sigma Paris Palette – Louvre, Orsay, Seine, Versailles.
  • Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics – Pre-Game, Faith, Blow.
  • Lancôme Volume-À-Porter Mascara – Black.
  • MakeupGekk Gel Liner – Immortal.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro70, Bro10.
  • Ardell Faux Mink Lashes – 810.
  • H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil – Silver Jade

IMG_20180228_194511_362.jpg

One thing that is really nice is that every single shade is named after a monument or famous tourist attraction in Paris. If I ever go to Paris it would be only suitable to bring this palette, even though it it super big and bulky.

The blushes are really pretty too. Lumière is my clear favorite.

This is still possible to get your hands on for particularly eager collectors, but you’d have to expect to pay a bit more than the original 56$, which puts it in an uncomfortable price-range. Which it is not worth in my opinion. The shadows are beautiful, but the do have a lot of fallout and needs a good spray of fix + (or something similar) to get full opacity. So they do work, but they are not excellent compared to the standard we see now. I think a lot have happened with eyeshadow quality the last 5 year!

If you are lucky enough to own it, it’s a very pretty piece that well deserves some attention!

Throwback Thursday Makeuplook – Too Faced Candy Bar “Thin Mints”

Happy Throwback Thursday! Hope you are having a great day. Throwback Thursday means that I have a chance to pick out one of my old eyeshadows or eyeshadow palettes from my drawers and create something with a palette that is not necessarily popular at the moment (or maybe not even still for sale). You know, among all those new things released, it is nice to get some time to pay attention to the older parts of the collection as well. So this is the palette I picked out for todays Throwback Thursday makeup look.

IMG_20180222_121459_701-1.jpg

This is soooo old school Too Faced! The Candy Bars Eye Shadow & Shimmer Palette in the shade “Thin Mints”.  I can’t remember how old it is, but it must be close to 10 years by now! It is cute though with its green and blue summer-toned shades. There is just something about green and blue that makes me happy, and that’s probably why I got myself this little palette in the first place.

IMG_20180222_121354_957.jpg

I mean. This just screams summer to me with these bright fun shades! It is set up as one solid powder with 4 strips of different shades. They are big enough so that it is easy to grab only one shade with the brush.

IMG_20180222_121629_684.jpg

  • Too Faced Candy Bars Eye Shadow & Shimmer Palette – Thin Mints
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Immortal
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Fame
  • Maybelline Lash Temptation Mascara – Black.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro90
  • House Of Lashes – Boudouir
  • Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil – 411.

The shade selection makes it a bit hard to be creative. One very pale blue that works best for just blending out the edges since it’s not very pigmented, one bright blue, and one slightly darker blue that looks very similar on the eyes, and one bright green. The pigmentation is OK, not great and not bad. You can get a simple summery eyelook with this, but the small amount of shades and lack of dimension limits a bit how much you can do.

IMG_20180222_121435_074.jpg

Even though this is very old, I found that this is actually still available on Amazon! If anyone should be interested in getting this nostalgic piece, then it is possible still.

Jeffree Star Androgyny Palette Makeuplooks. 8 Looks with one palette!

I finally got around to play with the Jeffree Star Androgyny palette to see how the shades work! I was immediately drawn to the palette upon its release, but I never got around to buy it until Black Friday 2017. So it was about time I got my chance to create some looks with it.

There are so many bold and fun colors here, but still, at the same time it is possible to create very wearable daytime looks. I would have no problem at all finding a word-friendly makeuplook with these shades. However, that’s not my style when I want to get creative so these looks are a bit more bold than what I would wear for work.

Anyway, here are the looks one by one. As usual you find everything I used in bullet points below each look. Hope you like them, and thank you for reading!

Throwback Thursday Makeuplook with Too Faced Natural Eye

For todays Throwback Thursday look I picked out one of my very old Too Faced palettes. From the time waaaay before they made their famous chocolate bar palettes. Back when the packaging of their 9 pan palettes was cardboard and not tin.

IMG_20180204_223250_236.jpg

I have a tiny collection of these 9 pan palettes from the old days, and they are well loved. I picked out the Natural Eye because of the georgeous brown and shimmery shades.

IMG_20180204_223228_804.jpg

Despite this palette being named Natural Eye these looks are not very natural. You can easily create natural looks with it as well, its just not that fun to post.

IMG_20180204_223939_069.jpg

  • Too Faced Natural Eye – Heaven, Velvet Revlover, Sexpresso, Nude Beach, Erotica.
  • Lancôme Volume-à-Porter Mascara – Black.
  • Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl – Noir.
  • Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro70.
  • Etude House Oh-m’ Eye Line – Black.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • House Of Lashes – Knockout.

IMG_20180204_224006_102.jpg

  • Too Faced Natural Eye – Heaven, Velvet Revolver, Sexpresso, Silk Teddy, Push Up, Honey Pot, Cocoa Puff.
  • Lancôme Volume-à-Porter Mascara – Black.
  • Kiko Smart Eye Pencil – 802.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • House Of Lashes – Knockout.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectum – Bro30, Bro40, Bro70.

I am actually quite happy that I used every single color this time too. I know I did it last throwback Sunday, but that was just a quad. And I know I won’t be able to use every single shade in a bigger palette, but I think it’s good to do more than one look just to get the most out of it.

IMG_20180204_223314_474.jpg

I was pleasantly surprised with this palette. I know I liked it from before, but I actually think it is close to 3 years since I used it on my eyes. I know that’s past expiring date, but since I disinfect my makeup I pay more attention to the quality of the product itself and not the shelf life. If it looks good, performs good, smells the same and I don’t see any texture differences I will keep it. This one performs just like I remember, and this particular 9 pan palette is actually close to the Too Faced Chocolate Bar in formula.

Overall it was fun to re-experience this palette and remember how much I used to love it. Because the shadows are beautiful for sure.

Do you still have this old gem in your collection?

4 looks -1 palette! Natasha Denona Lila Eyeshadow Palette.

Natasha Denona really hit a nerve when she created the Lila palette. I am much more drawn to this palette than say the Sunset one (they are both gorgeous though!). I just really WANT to use the shades in this palette to create something. So I created 4 looks using shades from that palette only. Just to have some fun with it and see how it performed.

One of my ways to do research before a review is actually doing exactly this, making several looks with one palette and trying to use as many shades as possible. I just don’t feel like I am able to review a palette properly without testing all the shades on my eyes and felt how they perform on the lid. I can hands down assure you that this palette deserves a glorious review! IT…IS….AMAZING!

So, now let’s take a peak at the makeup looks. Under each photo you get a full product list of everything I used. Hope you enjoy!

So, it’s in the middle of winter but still I am here creating very summery makeuplooks. I just felt like using bright colors, flowers and pearls I guess.

So here is the look, featuring the stunning Tropical Wonders palette by Certifeye! I already posted a review about it a while ago, so you can read all about the palette here.
