Creative Makeup Look #2 – Oil Spill

Another short makeup look post. If you did not catch my first post, this Creative Makeup series is just a series of short posts where I share one of my more creative makeup looks. I want an excuse to dig into my collection fro time to time and be creative instead of just using new palettes for reviews. It’s about getting around to using more of what I got as well as trying to evolve my makeup skills.

So this look is inspired by the colors in an oil spill. Turned out very different from what I had pictured, but that’s how it usually work when I try to do something more creative. I have something specific in mind and end up with something completely different.

  • September Rose Slush Palette – Bubblegum. Blue Lagoon, Berry Blast, Strawberry.
  • BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival Palette – Neon, Solstice, Wicked, Spirit.
  • Obsession London Love.Every.Shade Palette – Fresh.
  • NYX Epic Black Mousse.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro60.
  • Zoeva Graphic Brow Fix.

The color effects was really easy to create. It’s just tapping shimmery colorful shades over a completely black base. I think it gives the colors a nice dimension!

In my mission to collect all the Juvia’s Place palettes (because they are awesome) it was inevitable that I would pick up the Festival palette eventually. I had my eyes on it for so long, so I was happy to finally get to dig into all the fun colors. Those creamy metallic shades are always so much fun to work with, and pigmentation is excellent as usual.

Here are the looks I created!

Sprinkle of pearls and glitter – When you want to do creative makeup without a painters skills.

If you want to do something fun with makeup, but (like me) don’t have the skills to paint on incredible flowers or even whole paintings on your eyes, then glitter small pearls and gems are your best friend.

With a few dots and gem pieces glued on you can still create beautiful and creative looks without needing any more skills than gluing stuff on your lid. Simple as that!

So I did one of these lazy creative looks and this is how it turned out!

IMG_20180817_131827_770.jpg

  • Certifeye The Tropical Wonders Palette – Waterfall, Fruit Dove, Bermuda, Swamp, Bonobo.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Makeupgeek Gel Liner – Immortal.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie Mascara.
  • Revolution Pro Supreme Dip Liner – White.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30.
  • House Of Lashes – Featherette.
  • Rhinestones and pearls from Ebay.

All the small gems and pearls I use are just super affordable nail art supplies I pick up form Ebay, and I use lash glue to attach them. So easy!

Hope you like the look, and remember that you can also find me on Bloglovin and Instagram if you want to!

Circles, Dots and Sunset Makeup look.

I really think it is fun to keep a sort of variety in the looks I do. I don’t want to be an halo eye expert, or the known for a certain kind of cut-create. I want to play around with different styles and techniques and hopefully learn to be better at all of them. The funniest looks are when I decide to put down all those palettes I am trying to review and rather play around with something creative.

Sometimes it goes terribly wrong and I have to wipe it all of. And other times I end up with something a am able to share. Like this look.

IMG_20180817_131858_075.jpg

  • Certifeye The Tropical Wonders Palette – Watarfall, Sunray, Toucan, Red Sea, Equator, Honeycreeper, Atlantic, Bonobo.
  • Kiko Kajal Khôl Pencil – 109.
  • Revolution Pro Supreme Dip Liner – White.
  • Makeupgeek Gel Eyeliner – Immortal.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro10, Bro30.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie.
  • Ardell Flawless Lashes – 804.

My plan was initially to make something soap bubble inspired, and that’s what I started trying to create with the four spheres. I was not really happy with the looks of them, so I just started adding some shapes in addition. Sometimes thing don’t turn out as planned, so you just have to wing it.

As always when I want to play with color I reached for the Certifeye Tropical Wonders palette. It’s my absolute go-to when I want to play with colors and it’s sooo good! Have you tried it?

Also, remember that you can find me on Bloglovin or Instagram if you want to stay updated.

Chandelier Makeup Look With Certifeye Tropical Wonders Palette

This look was inspired by chandeliers. Dark chandeliers. It’s actually a very easy look to create, it is basically just dots with en liquid black liner and some nailart gems attached with lash glue, but I like the looks of it.

I always have so much fun when I have time to add details like this. And off course I used my favorite colorful eyeshadow palette for eyeshadows. The Tropical Wonders have truly been my most used palette this year!

IMG_20180826_110510_969.jpg

  • Cerfiteye Tropical WondersPalette – Waterfall, Hibiscus, Firefish, Honeycreeper, Starling, Bonobo.
  • Makeupgeek Gel Liner – Immortal.
  • Kiko Eye Pencil – Name is rubbed off but its a rose gold shade (waterline).
  • Etude House Oh M’Eye Liquid Liner – Black.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie Mascara.
  • House of Lashes – Iconic.
  • Colourpop No Filter Concealer – Fair Neutral.
  • Ttd_Eye Lenses – HD Green-Gray

If you are paying attention to the list of products I used and are wondering why I did not add any brow products like I usually do, the reason being that I used the Makeupgeek gel liner because I wanted black brows. So there you have it.

Hope you like the look, and remember to give me a follow on Bloglovin or Instagram if you want to keep track of my posts!

Devinah Cosmetics Eyeshadows – Swatch, Review and Makeup Looks!

Another one of those indie brands I decided to test out. I picked out a small selection of nice green and blue shades, because those tend to be my favorites anyway, but the web -page had tons of pretty shades to choose from. I ordered these shades directly from their own site.

IMG_20180428_110210_672.jpg

The shades I ordered where LMAO, Odium, Acapulco, Paladin, Buddy Blue, Cupid and Viridian. The last shade I clumsy enough to forget to put in the picture but it is a matte grass green shade.

I will talk more about how they performed but firstly lets just talk a bit about the brand. Because I love supporting small brands like this. It is a cruelty-free, sometimes vegan small business started and run by a true makeup lover that aims to create high quality, pure and well-performing eyeshadows for MUA’s and beginners and everything between. I love supporting a business like this with real passionate people behind.

But the most important thing for us consumers are how they perform, and I don’t do any reviews of eyeshadows without showcasing some looks with them. So here are what I did with these pretty blues and greens!

IMG_20180508_203033_078.jpg

  • Devinah Eyeshadows – Viridiam, Odium, Acapulco, LMAO.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Glow.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • Maybelline Total Temptations Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Ponade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro70, Bro30, Bro40.
  • Eylure Definition Lashes – 121.

IMG_20180508_203102_742.jpg

  • Devinah Eyeshadows – Paladin, Buddy Blue, Cupid, LMAO.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Glow.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • Maybelline Total Temptations Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Ponade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro70, Bro10.
  • Eylure Definition Lashes – 121.

The pigmentation is spot on. They apply the way they look in the pan without any fuzz, a few of the shades like “Odium” had to be applied in a couple of layers to reach full opacity but in general they are rich and pigmented, and if needed definitely build-able. They were simple to work with. Bot hard to blend or apply or anything. A little bit of fallout but not bad at all considering these shades feel quite soft.

The grass green matte “Viridian” was really easy to apply and blend, but I have to admit I had some problems with “Buddy Blue”. However, they claim on the site that these are “Electradecent Body Pots” made not particularly for the eye but for body paint, SFX and similar stuff. They also claim that they need to be applied over a white base. So the reason why they did not work is definitely user error since I tried using this one just as an eyeshadow. I don’t think I will order more shades from the “Electradecent Body Pots” line, but the other matte impressed me and I will for sure pick up more of the mattes.

As with so many indie brands Devinah has a gorgeous and large selection of every shade under the rainbow. A very fancy feature is that you can choose the pan size! So if you know you are picking up a shade you are likely to use a lo, you can pick up a bigger pan! That is so neat! The 26 mm pans are the “normal” pan size and will cost you a reasonable 5$ which is a steal for the quality.

I really do recommend these and I am happy to continue growing my collection of these stunning shadows!

Have you tried any Devinah shadows? I would love to get color recommendations from you guys!

Throwback Thursday Makeup Look With YSL Bayadère Style Eye Shadow!

I found this ooooold old gem hiding in my palette drawer (correction: one of my palette drawers). This is a limited edition and I am not quite sure from when, but I think it is from all the way back in 2005. And I have barely used it in all these years.

IMG_20180611_131311_218.jpg

It is so summery and nice and takes me straight to the beach when I look at it. So I did a throwback look with this while hoping for warmer days and sun!

IMG_20180613_203601_150.jpg

  • YSL Bayadère Style Eye Shadow – All Shades-
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Fame.
  • H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil – Azure Thing.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner 24 H – Black.
  • L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro70, Bro30, Bro10.
  • House Of Lashes – Featherette.

IMG_20180611_131247_936.jpg

I have to say even though it is fun looking the pigmentation is not the best. I did work quite hard to get them to show up as I want. I kind of get the impression that they are meant more for a wash of shimmery pastel shades because the quality does not seem bad just the pigmentation. On the other hand, a lot have happened in the pigmentation department since around 2005, and I guess I would be rude to expect this to perform as new.

Anyway, this little thing is now disinfected and but back in my collection drawer. Pieces of limited edition luxury makeup is too precious to get rid of.

Do you also have really old items in your collection?
