Creative Makeup Look #2 – Oil Spill

Another short makeup look post. If you did not catch my first post, this Creative Makeup series is just a series of short posts where I share one of my more creative makeup looks. I want an excuse to dig into my collection fro time to time and be creative instead of just using new palettes for reviews. It’s about getting around to using more of what I got as well as trying to evolve my makeup skills.

So this look is inspired by the colors in an oil spill. Turned out very different from what I had pictured, but that’s how it usually work when I try to do something more creative. I have something specific in mind and end up with something completely different.

IMG_20190304_125611_532.jpg

  • September Rose Slush Palette – Bubblegum. Blue Lagoon, Berry Blast, Strawberry.
  • BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival Palette – Neon, Solstice, Wicked, Spirit.
  • Obsession London Love.Every.Shade Palette – Fresh.
  • NYX Epic Black Mousse.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro60.
  • Zoeva Graphic Brow Fix.
  • House Of Leashes – Iconic.

The color effects was really easy to create. It’s just tapping shimmery colorful shades over a completely black base. I think it gives the colors a nice dimension!

As always you can also keep track on my latest blog post on my Instagram among other things.

BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival Palette – Review & Swatches!

Having good affordable brands available is fantastic. Having good quality makeup available for those who is not able to, or does not want to spend a lot of money on makeup is the best! Some of my very favorite brands are on the cheap scale. But I have never really been that into BH Cosmetics. I have purchased 4 palettes the last couple of years, and only one of them remains in my collection (and I am the worst declutterer ever). The rest I have given away or just binned. Needless to say, I have not been too impressed by BH Cosmetics eyeshadows.

IMG_20180826_115533_087.jpg

So when this palette was released I decided I would not take my chance on getting another palette I would just give away as soon as I tested it out. Life is too short to waste on bad palettes. But one great review followed the other. EVERYBODY seemed to love this! I have actually to this day not seen a bad review of this palette. And with the fun colors and great reviews temptation got the better of me.

The packaging is super bright, fun and summery. It’s a simple cardboard packaging with a mirror inside. Fairly decent for the low cost of the palette. But the really fun part is the inside! Isn’t the color story just so much fun? Gorgeous blues, green, pink ,orange, purple. You got some nice sparkly shades, a lovely duo-chrome and even a few pops of neutrals.

IMG_20181030_135039_199.jpg

The nice color story does make this palette very versatile. Sure enough, you would probably not be very drawn to this palette unless you like colors. If you are a neutral lover you would probably go for something more brown anyway, but you can go neutral with this if that is something you like from time to time and off course, when you want to wear colors you have a ton of options! You really can do so much with this. A neutral brown crease with a champagne shimmery lid or a rose gold lid for a more toned down options. You can go for cool-toned colors, warm-toned colors, sunset looks, bright blue looks, or summery green looks! You can even do a smoky dark grey eye! Almost endless options, and every shade is different. No duplicates here (Looking at you Morphe).

The quality also impressed me! What impressed me most was actually the matte blue shade. This is a fantastic matte blue. It may even be among the very best in my collection (which is quite extensive I have to admit). It reminds me of a better version of MAC’s Electric Eel. It is very highly pigmented, but still it’s really easy to blend! The other mattes are really good as well. No issues with pigmentation in this palette. Even the pale pink is nicely pigmented.

IMG_20181219_142501_890.jpg

The shimmers are not at all bad either! Smooth formula, and nice pigmentation. A bit of fallout when using them though. A few of the shades have a slightly chunkier formula due to having fine specs of glitter, but I am satisfied with how all the shades work. I had so much creating looks with it, and besides a bit of fallout I did not have any issues! Pigmentation is great, the mattes blend like a dream, and the shimmers are really pretty. I preferred using them with a damp brush, but they are not dull using them straight from the pan either! Spraying the brush gives a little bit of extra intensity, but they work just fine without too.

IMG_20181219_142629_951.jpg

Not to sound dramatic and all, but this palette changed how I feel about BH Cosmetics palettes. If they keep releasing palettes with this formula I would be happy to pick up more palettes, because they really nailed it with this one. Such a beautiful, fun and CHEAP palette!

Keeping my fingers crossed we see more palette like this from BH Cosmetics in the future!

Favorite makeup items – April 2018!

I love both reading and writing these monthly favorite round-ups. It is always so much fun to share my favorites with you, or to read your guys favorites to look for stuff I should maybe pick up next. If you do have a recent favorites post feel free to drop a link in the comments so I can check it out!

IMG_20180503_093641_766.jpg

I did stick to my usual skincare and haircare routine and even though I do have a lot of favorites stocked up in my bathroom shelves I have been focusing on using up some old stuff. So I don’t really have any skincare favorites to share this month. But I do have some pretty neat makeup items I am very excited about so lets get to it!

IMG_20180503_093755_326.jpg

Anastasia Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette: I am probably not the only one that initially thought I did not intend to buy this in the first place. Because, you know, just another neural palette. But the temptation of the nice Anastasia eyeshadow formula and a well composed palette with shades I would definitely get a lot of use out of sucked me in. We all got way to many neutrals, and people tend to complain every time yet another neutral palette is realized. And I am very on board with that Idea. But guess what shades I use the most….right, those boring neutrals. This just happen to be a very good quality palette with lots of neutral options in addition to some very stunning glam shades to take any look to something part appropriate. Just a good all-rounder, and I am a big fan. I can just say it out loud. I like this better than Modern Renaissance!

IMG_20180503_093711_938.jpg

Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade Eyeshadow Palette: As I’ve mentioned over and over again both here on my blog and on my Instagram I am a huge fan of the Juvia’s Place eyeshadow formula. I have several of their palettes and love every single one, so there is no surprise that a new exciting Juvia’s palette would reach my monthly favorites list. This palette has a nice mixtures of brown neutrals and bright fun shades. The bright shades, particularly the blues, are my absolute favorites and the quality is just stunning! This was a hit in my books.

IMG_20180503_093823_772.jpg

Zoeva Opulence Blush Palette: This one is so pretty both inside and out!. The packaging is to die for, and with a beautiful golden highlighter and two gorgeous blush shades I have no complains. Especially the middle shade has been used alot since I got it. It was actually a birthday gift I got in February, and I intended to put this in my monthly favorites in March but I forgot. Since I just continues using it also through April and it is such a pretty little thing I think it well deserves a spot among my faves.

IMG_20180503_094229_917.jpg

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer: I blew some dust out of this cult highlighter that I’ve had for such a long time. This is among the first highlighters I got, way before highlighters were such a big thing as it is now. This product is still gorgeous and completely on par with new releases. The light gold blinding glow it give is just so gorgeous. I actually have a little dent in the pan even. So this is an old favorite brought back to life this month! I love rediscovering my own stash1

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour: This really deserves the hype it gets. It is well known for being a Tarte Shape Tape dupe. I don’t agree with that. I think Tarte has slightly more coverage, but I think the finish on this Makeup Revolution one is much nicer (less dry, more natural) so for me I would pick this over Tarte any day! And it is so cheap!

IMG_20180503_094301_057.jpg

Colourpop Lux Lipsticks “Appy”: I need to get around to write a review about these guys now that I’ve tested out some of the shades properly, so I won’t tell to much about this. But this is a shade I have been wearing a lot this month because it is such a beautiful nude. I am also really pleased about it being a bullet lipstick. Honestly, even though I love so many of my liquid lipstick formulas, I just think it is so much more handy to apply from a bullet.

NYX Powder Puff Lippie “Squad Goals”: I had this for approximately 1.5 weeks but this goes straight on my favorites list. It has such a velvet matte finish on the lips without feeling drying at all. I consistency is different from anything else I’ve tried but in a good way. I don’t love that it’s in a squeezy tube and I think the smell is a bit chemical, but I love the looks of it and need to pick up at least one more color.

IMG_20180503_094330_550.jpg

Eylure Definition Lashes N. 121: This is my second pair because I completely worn out a pair during April. I made so many looks with these lashes. My second pair of lashes don’t seem to be as good as the first one though. I used the first one arond 20 times before they were done, but now these have been used 4 times and start to look a bit off. I don’t know if Eylure usually have unregular quality or if I have just been unlucky? Anyway. the first pair held up really well, they are easy to apply, feel comfy and look so pretty!

Do we have any favorites in common? Let me know in the comments what products you have been loving in April, or drop me a link if you posted about it. I would love to hear about your favorites as well!

My Makeup Collection 2018 – Lipsticks!

Time to have a look at my traditional bullet lipsticks! I already posted my liquid lipstick collection so if you are interested in those just have a look here.

But today it is all about bullets, and I want to start off with something iconic, namely my MAC lipstick collection!

IMG_20180325_164952_453.jpg

First Row:

  • MAC Lipstick – Angel.
  • MAC Lipstick – Viva Glam Gaga.
  • MAC Lipstick – Patisserie.
  • MAC Lipstick – Viva Glam I.

I am still a huge fan of the MAC lipstick formula, and add pieces to my collection here and there. They used to be very big some years ago, back when MAC was a much bigger thing than it is now. Not that they are small by any means, we just have more options now. I like to talk about makeup “in the old days” and sounding like I am 80 years old. That is only my mental age, in reality I am much younger. Anyway, loved these back then, still do!

I also made a review of the Nakeupface C-Cup Lip Tox-Tick lipsticks a while back and you can find it here if you are curios about some K-Beauty lipsticks!

These were so highly treasured and brings back some very fond memories. I haven’t used them in a long time now, and I really should (as always).

I also expect a lot more to be added due to my very eager shopping and collector urges. I can already tell I got 5 of Colourpops Luxe Lipsticks on their way, and I am sure they won’t be the only ones. I am still a firm believer that you can never have too many nudes, and I also love a good red!

Do we have any lipstick shades in common?

My Makeup Collection 2018: Highlighters!

Together with my eyeshadow palette collection this is the part I’ve been most excited to show you guys. Highlighters have become such a popular thing. I can well remember my first highlighter that I got around 8 years ago. It was not a big thing back then, and just something I applied on rare occasions. Now it is a part of my everyday routine, and my collection has become a lot larger than the 2-3 product I used to have before.

Do you ever thing a completely matte face will be a thing again, or do you think highlighters are here to stay?

I hope they will stay, because I need to use all this stuff!
