Makeup and beauty hauls – September 2018!

One of my favorite posts to write. Showing you whats new to my collection and what you can expect seeing some reviews of in the future.

I have been picking up a few new bits and pieces but I think I managed to not go overboard, so I am quite happy!

These Hourglass powders I both ordered in August, but you know, international shipping knows how to take it’s time. But this travel size Hourglass Bronzer and the Hourglass Blush in “Ethereal Glow” finally arrived. I got mine from Cultbeauty. And do you know that they have travel size blushes there too? I think it’s such a great thing to be able to pick up a travel size of a blush for much cheaper. I never go through blushers anyway!

More stuff from Cultbeauty, and more mini’s! Again, being able to pick up a smaller size for much less money is so great! Here is Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop. I now finally have this iconic product.

The lashes are Huda Beauty lashes in Carmen #9. It took me a while to get use to Huda lashes due to their thick lash-band, but now that I am I really like them.

This palette I just stumbled over on Instagram. I’d never seen it or heard of the palette before, and since it was reasonably priced I decided to pick it up and give it a go. The GLF Cosmetics Princesa Azteca Palette really has both a large selection of neutrals and colors and I am a fan of the selection. Did not get the chance to play with it yet, but eventually I will have a makeup look post and a review post of this. Just be patient, I got a big pile of stuff to review and too little time!

I also needed some basics! The OGX Hair Butter sounded interesting and I always need something to give moisture to my ends. Never tried this, but I have tried some shampoo and conditioners from the brand and have been overall happy with them.

The Human+Kind Shower Mousse Bodywash “Grapefruit Delight” I picked up because it smells divine and I can always use a nice body wash.

I am slowly running out of cleansing balm, and since it takes a while to get here through mail (I usually use K-Beauty cleansers and they are not sold in store in my country) so I picked up the Nivea Eye Makeup Remover in case I run out before the next one arrive. It’s cheap, that’s mainly why I picked it.

IMG_20180918_102907_777.jpg

I did not stop picking up some essentials there. I also got e refill of the St.Moriz Fast Self Tanning Foam. I am running low on my other one. Not sure how long I will bother to try maintaining a tan. After all I love north of the wall and don’t really need to be tanned in winter.

The Simple Foaming Cleanser was something I picked up because I have just a few uses left of my current one. Never tried this, and it was so cheap my hopes are not all that high. But hey, if it’s good I did find a nice affordable cleanser so always worth a try!

XHC Revitalising Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner was also a necessary refill. I am running low on shampoo and conditioner so new ones are necessary. These smell like coconut, which I like if it’s a good coconut scent, but hate if it’s too sweet or synthetic. I will have to get back to you on how I feel about this.

KMS Add Volume Hairs Spray is a sample I decided to try. I don’t always get overly excited about hair styling so I love being able to try a sample before buying the real deal. I find it to be such a struggle to try to get through hair styling I don’t like.

The same goes for Tony&Guy Casual Sculpting Powder. I am hoping this will be something to help me if my hair is to flat or greasy. Sort of like a texturing dry shampoo.

IMG_20180923_185651_752.jpg

I was very much fond of the MorpheMe brush bundle this month. I really like Morphes Y-series, and I always need more eyeshadow brushes. One can never have too many blending brushes in my opinion.

IMG_20180923_185734_738.jpg

Finally, after a long time, my Makeup Revolution parcel arrived. I ordered this in June, but it was returned and they had to send it back. International shipping back and forth does take time, but finally the Soph x Revolution Extra Spice palette found its way home to me together with the lipsticks “Cake” and “Syrup”, two very pretty nudes!

IMG_20180923_185333_176.jpg

These three items were sent to me for free from Tambeauty. the reason was that when they tried to resend my order with the Soph x Revolution Extra Spice palette, one of the other items I ordered, a setting spray, was suddenly not legal to send due to new regulations. So they put some extra stuff in my package. The Palette is Obsessions Love Every Shade Eyeshadow Palette, and then I got a Obsessions Liquid Illuminator in the shade “S&X” which looks really pretty, and a Obsessions Lip Effects Gloss. Excited to try these things since the brand is new to me.

IMG_20181004_154832_437.jpg

And finally, no month is complete without a Colourpop purchase! I picked up the gorgeous fall palette Good Sport, and the Super Shock Highlighter Palette “Crush On You”. Colourpop always has something new and I really try to keep up at least with their eyeshadow palettes. Their are challenging me for sure, but I love collecting their eyeshadows. They are affordable and one of my favorite formulas. What’s not to love!

Did you pick up anything fun this month?

Circles, Dots and Sunset Makeup look.

I really think it is fun to keep a sort of variety in the looks I do. I don’t want to be an halo eye expert, or the known for a certain kind of cut-create. I want to play around with different styles and techniques and hopefully learn to be better at all of them. The funniest looks are when I decide to put down all those palettes I am trying to review and rather play around with something creative.

Sometimes it goes terribly wrong and I have to wipe it all of. And other times I end up with something a am able to share. Like this look.

IMG_20180817_131858_075.jpg

  • Certifeye The Tropical Wonders Palette – Watarfall, Sunray, Toucan, Red Sea, Equator, Honeycreeper, Atlantic, Bonobo.
  • Kiko Kajal Khôl Pencil – 109.
  • Revolution Pro Supreme Dip Liner – White.
  • Makeupgeek Gel Eyeliner – Immortal.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro10, Bro30.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie.
  • Ardell Flawless Lashes – 804.

My plan was initially to make something soap bubble inspired, and that’s what I started trying to create with the four spheres. I was not really happy with the looks of them, so I just started adding some shapes in addition. Sometimes thing don’t turn out as planned, so you just have to wing it.

As always when I want to play with color I reached for the Certifeye Tropical Wonders palette. It’s my absolute go-to when I want to play with colors and it’s sooo good! Have you tried it?

Smashbox The Cali Contour – Review!

I am all for this palette, and if you read my August Favorites you already know that. But let me break down to you why I like this palette so much!

Face palettes are something I am kind of drawn too since I don’t really have that many of them. Besides they are really handy. So when I see a palette where I think most of the shades will fit, then I get very tempted, and with this palette the temptation was too high. It also helped a lot that I have become a bigger and bigger fan of Smashbox lately. I am not a big fan of their eyeshadow formula,

IMG_20180712_193115_638.jpg

So why is this good then? Well, two thing. The one is (for me) the shades. I do think if you are light to medium you should too. If you are very fair or more in the darker range of medium then I am sure there are better options for you. But for me it’s perfect because I do get use out of every single color.

The second thing is composition. Because this face palette really got what I need. There is this matte highlighter shades that work great for setting my concealer or just lighten up areas of my face without the glow. If I do want the glow, I got one option that will work all year round, and another option that looks great when I have that summer tan going on.

I then have a nice warm bronzer to bronze up my face, and a cool-toned contour shades to deepen the shades under my cheekbones or do a nose contour. To finish it all off there is a really nice warm blush that goes very well together with the rest of this palette. This palette has all you need for a sun kissed look in one handy palette.

IMG_20180712_193056_584.jpg

The quality of both the palette itself (packaging that means) and the powders are overall very good. The palette it quite heavy considering it’s so compact, but it does have a decent sized mirror. It also feels sturdy and nice. I have traveled a bit with it and it seems to be handle that well, not that I throw my bags around that much though. With 20.56 g of product (that seems like a random number) there is a decent amount of product , and I like that the shimery highlighters are smaller than the other products that you most likely use more. I mean who pans highlighters? (You got my full respect).

IMG_20180830_141442_416.jpg

The matte highlighter and the blush are working perfectly. I have nothing bad to say about them. The bronzer and contour are also really really nice, but they are quite pigmented. I personally prefer bornzers and contours that are a bit on the lesser pigmented side. I mean I want them to be good quality, but I prefer a more buildable one. Not to say these are bad at all, I just have to use a bit of a lighter hand and make sure I blend. With that said they blend very easy.

The highlighters are maybe the least impressive powders in this palette. They work fine enough. They are not glittery or patchy, the colors work nice for me and all that. They are just a bit subtle. For this to be the perfect palette I would have liked them to be a bit more intense. They do give a nice subtle glow though, so if you like that then awesome, but I chose to use these as a base, and then throw a little bit of something extra glowy right in the center.

IMG_20180712_193134_448.jpg

Overall I am very very happy with it. Especially since all the shades worked so nicely on my skin tone. It’s not really that often I find a palette where everything fits. Even though I would have preferred the two highlighter shades in the middle to be slightly more intense I am loving this palette over all!

If you have a similar skin tone as me this is for sure worth an extra look!

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Blush – Review!

As so many other I am a fan of the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer, and it got me curious to test out the other products in the Murumuru Butter family. They got those bronzers, some blushes and some very nice highlighters. So I picked up a bit of everything to play with, and will be reviewing the blushes today!

IMG_20180815_124451_864.jpg

The packaging is similar to the Butter Bronzer just a bit smaller and quite a bit more pink. They got the same palm leaf design and the same bulkiness. I like that the lid is clear so you can easily see what blush you are reaching for without reading the label. I picked up the shades Rosy Pink and Natural Glow. Rosy Pink is a matte soft pale pink, and Natural Glow is like a very pale rose gold. It is not matte but have a nice sheen to it without being shimmery. I am very happy with both shades, but I think the shade range could easily take advantage of some darker shades. I am quite pale and still these are too light for me now that I got a slight tan. I think medium skin and darker could have a problem finding a dark enough shade. Let me know if I am wrong, I would love to be corrected on this!

IMG_20180815_124520_742.jpg

The consistency of the product is similar to the bronzer. So a very very creamy powder. My favorite way to apply these are with a slightly denser synthetic brush. The amount of product is easy to control because it is more of a buildable pigmentation rather than “first-swipe-and-you’re-ready- for-a-carneval”. I prefer buildable blushes if I had to pick actually.

IMG_20180815_124603_703.jpg

One thing that really surprised me was longevity. Usually I find that most blushes would have disappeared after 3-4 hours anyway regardless of brand, but these guys had really really good staying power. After 8 hours it was very easy to see that the blush was still there. So I am impressed by how long they last on the skin. They may actually be the longest lasting blushes I’ve ever tried!

IMG_20180815_124633_244.jpg

One drawback though is the very bulky packaging. and when you open the blush completely you find another compartment that holds an applicator. Not a brush, and applicator. The sponge type! To me it was absolutely useless. There is also a mirror, but it is so tiny and I really don’t see myself ever using it, mostly because the placement is really unpractical since it’s underneath the blush and you would constantly have to open and close it to use it. I would have much preferred no sponge and no mirror in exchange for a slimmer packaging.

It is still a darn good blush though, and I guess I have enough blushes suitable for traveling so it does not matter all that much.

For a price tag of 12.99 $ it’s not the cheapest at the drug store but still well worth the little extra coin. I wold absolutely recommend these, and I hope to pick up some more shades myself!

Oh, and yes, they do smell like the bronzer!

Colourpop Fortune Eyeshadow Palette – Review & Swatches!

IMG_20180625_102557_391.jpg

Fortune is the warm-tones sister of the Fame palette which I already wrote a review of (read here). But even though Fame is super neutral, Fortune is not. It’s definitely shades here you can use for everyday looks, but this is much more than just a regular warm-toned neutral palette. This one has golds, warm browns and berry shades in a nice mix.

IMG_20180912_143109_253.jpg

IMG_20180912_143134_902.jpg

The cover matches Fame, and when you put them next to each other they make a complete picture. The outside match the inside a bit better with the Fortune palette than what it did with the Fame palette, but I still think the color story on the outside could have been a bit different. I just expect something completely different when I look at them compared to what you find on the inside. Just a personal preference off course, and other than that the cover is cute.

IMG_20180626_134210_998.jpg

Inside you get 16 shades, so this is so far the biggest palette size Colourpop has released (but I am sure that will chance in the future. Colourpop release so much they are bound to suddenly make a large palette in true Morphe style, lets just hope they can actually add some colors to it when it happens, because no one need 35 shades of what’s basically 4 different browns. This palette has more has a nice composition of your basic mattes, rich metallic and warm berry shades. It’s absolutely a complete palette when it comes to color composition and you can easily create a large variation of looks. This is a nice stand/alone palette, and if you are into berries and golds this would be a good choice.

IMG_20180912_143216_979.jpg

Quality is the well known usual Colourpop quality. They really do make excellent mattes and metallic shades. All shades in this palette is good. The only one that I felt needed a little help with a damp brush was “Miser” the duochrome. I felt that it needed a spritz of setting spray on the brush to get the shine and full potential of the pigment. the berry shades blend very easily despite being a color that could be harder that your regular brown. If you like the Colourpop eyeshadows formula already, I am sure you will find this one just as satisfying.

IMG_20180625_102619_244.jpg

There is a nice mix of mattes, metallics and a satin finish shade. The nice mixture of finished is also one of the things that help making this very cohesive. I didn’t miss any particular shades when I was working with this palette. I felt I had every shade I needed here.

IMG_20180625_102645_038.jpg

For 22$ you get 16 shades of the usually great Colourpop quality (but no mirror) so if you are a fan of the color story in this palette it’s both a good and affordable palette in my opinion. At least I am happy to have picked it up!

Review: MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish – Whisper Of Gilt!

I finally got my hands on the oh so famous “Whisper of Gilt” shade by MAC. It.s been a part of a couple limited edition releases and the shade has been raved about for years. I have always wanted it, partly out of curiosity, partly out of the fact that I love a good gold highlighter.

IMG_20180815_115750_055.jpg

I finally got my hands on this in the Extra Dimension Skinfinish version. Whenever it’s been a part of a limited edition release it has sold out before i could say “Pancakes!”. It  seems like everyone want this, and it’s become a cult product for MAC. But, this time it’s back for good, and is now a part of their permanent Extra Dimension Skinfinish line. Isn’t that fantastic news? I sure think so!

IMG_20180815_115809_436.jpg

So, is it worth it’s cult status? Well, an intense gold metallic highlighter that would fit a large range of skintones with a buttery smooth formula….YES! It’s a great highlighter and if you are into golden highlights this is for sure worth an extra look. Maybe not as exclusive as it once was, and maybe it now lacks a bit of that exclusive rare feel to it, but everyone should have a chance to try this beauty.

IMG_20180815_115855_706.jpg

It’s not to much more to say really. The formula is great, the shade is great, and the rest is classic MAC. The packaging is their standard black compact with clear lid.

IMG_20180815_115830_401.jpg

For the price tag of 34 $ it’s not the cheapest one on the market for sure, and if you are on a budget there are plenty of other golden highlighters to choose one, you should not feel it’s necessary to pick up this exact one because to be fair, a golden shade is not that unique. And if you want a cheap alternative the Kiko Long Lasting Wet & Dry Use Eyeshadow in the shade 208 is a spot on dupe for only 7.90 $. But, if you are a MAC collector this is for sure a nice piece to add to your collection!

Empties – This time I got some great ones!

IMG_20180808_093824_322.jpg

Time to chat about empties again, and I got a small mixture of products for you. I actually finished a lot of good products here, so I have many to recommend to you!

IMG_20180808_093851_690.jpg

#100 Lioele Water Drop Sleeping Pack: I already wrote a full review of this product which you can have a look at here if you want to read more in depth about it. But I still think it is a great product and I realize that now that it’s been empty for a little while that I miss is from my skincare routine. I need to pick up a new one, and I highly recommend it!

#101 Nature Republic Himalaya Salt Cleansing Balm: A great makeup remover, and I have finished quite a few jars of this now. It is a wonderful balm that melts into the skin and removes even the most stubborn makeup quite easily. I will for sure buy this again because not only is it a fantastic makeup remover, it is also cheap!

IMG_20180813_104055_256.jpg

#102 John Masters Organics Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Wash: This smells absolutely divine. I’ve had this for years because I have been saving it. It is quite expensive to be a body wash, and not something I wanted to rush through because there are so many great cheaper body washes that works great so it feels kind of silly to spend this much money on one. But, that being said it is worth it because the smell is amazing and it feels luxurious as well. A very good body wash, but a bit on the pricey side. I may pick it up again though, because I do like it and I do like this brand in general.

#103 Avalon Organics Volumizing Rosemary Shampoo: Now over to something good and cheap. I tried quite a few of the Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioners and I generally find them to be a great and cheap organic option. This one was refreshing with a nice herbal rosemary scent and it did help with volume and shine as well. I do recommend, and I may pick this one up again at some point. I just have a few to many shampoos at the moment.

IMG_20180813_104114_584.jpg

#104 Bergamo Magic Snail B.B Cream: This was a part of my project pan. I initially put it in the project because I tried it once and I thought I didn’t love it so I wanted to just get it out of my collection. Now I am in love, and I need to get a new one. It just looks so great on the skin. It gives medium coverage and a dewy finish, but it is very skin-like at the same time. And the best thing is that it fades nicely, so even when it starts wearing off (it’s a B.B Cream after all and longevity is not supreme) it still looks OK. After a full work day has faded a bit, but after 8 hours that’s acceptable for a BB.I will buy this again! The only bad thing (like with many other Korean face products) is that the shade options are very limited-

#105 Lancôme Volume-à-Porter Mascara: I usually really like Lancôme mascaras. I like this one too. It gives a nice feathery look to the lashes. Nothing huge in volume or length, but good for days when you want natural but beautiful lashes. Did not smudge on me, and stayed put all day so that’s a good thing as well. I may repurchase in the future.

That’s all for now. Did you finish anything fun lately?

And by the way, you can find me on Bloglovin and Instagram as well!
