Stash or Trash #2 – Intro!

You guys seemed to like the first blog post in this series. If you haven’t read it I will give you a brief summary. With these posts I aim to pick out 10 products in my collection. Things taht are old, or that I for some reason don’t reach for. After testing and trying each product I will then decide if I will keep it (Stash) or declutter it (Trash). Here are the 10 items I picked out for this round!

IMG_20190226_154807_975.jpg

Lot’s of different stuff here. Now, I am a person who has a very hard time decluttering things. I love makeup and I really don’t mind having a large collection, so I that cut throat decluttering that some people do where they go through parts of their collection and get rid of a whole bunch is not for me (although, it is indeed admirable). But this kind of post actually made me get rid of a few things last time, so just taking my time and using and trying before making a decision may be more of my style anyway. But let’s talk about the products one by one!

IMG_20190226_155022_699.jpg

I picked two blushes. One is Everyday Mineral Blush in “Memphis Rose”. I think this is slightly too dark for me and it does have chunky glitter. That’s not something I really love so I tend to not reach for this. I also find the loose formula to be a bit of a bummer. But I don’t actually remember how this even looks on the skin, so before making up my mind I have to try it and figure out how it looks!

The other is a NARS Orgasm Illuminator. I picked this up many years ago before I really got into cream blushes and I just forgot about it. I don’t think I have ever used it even! The Orgasm color is classic and I do like it, I also tend to really enjoy cream formulas at the moment so I want to give this one a try. I see myself using it as a blush though, not an illuminator.

IMG_20190226_154932_744.jpg

This Kiko eyeshadowis the same Cream Crush Long Lasting Color Eyeshadow pot that I had in my first Stash or Trash makeup post. Only this time the color is more fun (the shade number is 13). When I swatch it I think it feels a bit on the dry side so I am not sure how this would perform now. It’s a few years old after all.

Those two eyeshadow pencils are both from Oriflame. One is the Oriflame Giordani Gold Impressionism Eye Shadow Pencil in “Deep Emerald” , a beautiful true emerald green. The other one is Gold Impressionism Eye Shadow Pencil in “Sea Sapphire” which is a really pretty blue. I haven’t used these in ages. I just never think about reaching for them. They are just disappearing in my collection in a way. So now I will use them a bit and figure out what to do with them. Maybe they work as eyeliners and would be more used if I stored them among my other pencil eyeliners instead of among my single shadows and eyeshadow pots?

IMG_20190226_154903_948.jpg

Again, some more Kiko stuff! I remember I picked up these two, tried them, and then apparently never really reached for the  again. These are the Kiko Long Lasting Color Lip Marker in the shade107 (top) and 105 (bottom). I need to figure out what I think about these and if I want to keep them or not.

IMG_20190226_154959_615.jpg

That funky looking blue mascara is Dior Diorshow Mascara in shade 258. It’s a stunning blue, but to be honest it’s probably way behind expiration date. I rarely use it, so I don’t even know if it’s dry. If it sill works I will try to squeeze a few more looks out of it. But if it’s too dry I will trash this and probably pick up the blue Colourpop mascara instead.

The weirdly looking eyelinger thing is the Physicians  Formula Shimmer Strips Extreme Shimmer Kohl Kajal + Liquid Liner Trio “Glam Nude”. This is the black pencil in the trio. I have used the gold one quite a bit because it has a golden glitter liner, but this one I have just swatched. About time I try it and see if I will figure out a way to incorporate this into my routine, otherwise it can go because it’s not a particularly interesting piece to collect. So if I can’t make this work I think I can safely get rid of it.

IMG_20190226_154838_881.jpg

And finally I need to give this one a try again. I remember that I used to really like the NYX Ulitmate Bright palette some years ago, but the moment I got the Certifeye Tropical Wonders in my collection this one has been left forgotten in the drawer. I haven’t touched it for a couple of years despite using it quite a bit when it was new. Now I just believe I have so many other better colorful mattes in my collection so this one is just not reached for. I have to revisit and figure out what I think, because honestly I can’t really remember how the formula is even.

I am exited to test and try these things once again. I am hoping I will be able to declutter something. In a few weeks time when I have tried everything properly I will revisit each item and tell you which one made the cut and which ones I will departure with.

My Makeup Collection 2019 – Highlighters!

This is one of the parts of my collection that I have been most looking forward to digging through and taking pictures of. Besides eyeshadow palettes, this is my favorite item to collect and I always enjoy a good highlighter. I know this amount of highlighters is crazy, but I really enjoy having a large highlighter collection to rotate through.

So, lets go through the madness together!

IMG_20190302_225607_657.jpg

Let’s start of with some palettes here! I love a good highlighter palette, so I got quite a few of them. I list every palette down below, and try to make the order as logical as possible. Hope it makes sense and you can pinpoint the name to the palette.

  • Mineralogics Luminescence

I am almost a bit nervous to count, but the total amount of single highlighters (liquids and powders alike) are 78. My highlighter palettes with 3 or more shades are 31. Individual shades in these palettes are 141. The total amount if individual highlighter shades are then 219. Last year this number was 157, so I am up 62 shades. About what I expected actually.

And you, do you spot any of your favorites among these? or can you see something I am missing out on?

Remember I also happen to exits on Instagram. It’s a simple way to keep track on my latest post.

Stash or Trash #1 – Recap!

Time to go through all the products in my first post in the Stash or Trash series. If you have not read the intro I suggest you have a look. I explain the deal about this series in that intro.

IMG_20190226_154518_834.jpg

I have worked my way through all the products and now I made up my mind if I want to keep them or not. The products on one side of the palette are things I will keep, and the stuff on the other are things I will get rid of. Can you guess which side is which?

IMG_20190117_150523_395.jpg

Let’s just start with the eyeshdow palette, because I decided something special for that one. I tried it out, and the quality of the eyeshadow is really not good. I can tell you that a lot has happened with Urban Decay eyeshadows since this palette was released. It probably does not help that it’s old either. I decided to not keep this in my collection, but I wont get rid of it either. I decided to just store it in a box separate from my makeup collection. As a curiosity. I have several makeup items I think can go into this box eventually. It’s just that some things are so old that even though It’s not really usable anymore it’s fun to have. Imagine how fun this will be to pull out and have a look at in 5 years, or 10, or 20. So I made a makeup artifact box. For now a small one, but I have it dedicated to these kind of things that I don’t feel like I need to keep in my collection of makeup, but I still want to keep. Who knows, maybe one day I will do a blog post with all the makeup artifact box. This will be the first item I put in it.

So let’s talk about the things I will not keep.

IMG_20190226_154548_541.jpg

Hope Girl Illuminating Powder is just something I don’t understand. It’s a loose powder full of glitter flecks. They are too sparse to actually work as a highlighter, but as a setting powder it leaves you looking like a disco ball. It’s just not flattering either way and I don’t understand how it’s supposed to look good on the face. Yes, I could use it on my legs for instance, but I know I will never remember to do that. So this one is decluttered.

Everyday Minerals “Like Lady Bird Lake” is a nice enough blush, but not special enough I feel for me to reach for it. I am not the biggest fan of loose blush, and this one has tiny flecks of glitter in it as well. So this one also got a spot in the decluttered pile.

The Man ZI Miao Wine Lip Tint is really cute, but I got two others and as I recall they are not that different since they are tints. I think I will keep one of them because they are super cute, but I can let this one go and then decide which one of the others I will keep.

Kiko Long Lasting Cream Eyeshadow was just not for me. I am not the biggest fan of pink, and this one was a bit dried out and made my lids just very textured. I do like these eyeshadow pots from Kiko, they usually look good and stay really well, but this colors just did not work for me.

The Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner I tried once but gave up. This is just too dried up, and I found it a bit poorly pigmented as well. In the bin with it!

IMG_20190226_154724_292.jpg

And then the things I decided to keep!

The L’Oreal Lip Paint Matte was something I remembered as a tiny bit drying, but when I used it again now I did not have the same experience. But the thing that made me make up my mind to keep it was the scent. It smells like strawberries!

That other lipstick with a unknown brand or name that I got as a freebee with an order and never used surprised me. It’s a very flattering and easy to wear red, that has a very decent staying power, feels comfy and fades away nicely. I did not expect much from this, actually I was convinced this was one of the things I would trash, but I ended up really enjoying it and can absolutely see myself reaching more for this shade! So it’s a keeper!

The Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Liquid Bronzer I used maybe 6 or 7 times during this testing period. It’s very easy to blend into the skin and gives a warm but natural bronzed look to the skin. A very natural looking product that was easy to work with. This will be perfect for spring!

lastly the Estee Lauder Pure Pops Cream Eyeshadow I ended up keeping as well. It does give a very nice sheen and color to the lid, and works nicely as a one-and-done eyeshadow for busy mornings, plus it really stays put all day. I just have to remember to use it.

So to make a summary of the first post in this series:

4 products are kept, 5 products are decluttered and one is put in my makeup artifact box!

I hope you enjoyed reading this, because I think there will be a new round of Stash or Trash coming soon. For someone like me who have a really hard time decluttering it’s very handy to do this because it will force me to go through my old stuff and really think about if I should keep them. If I turn out decluttering something then I managed to clean out some old stuff, and if I manage to rediscover an old product that is equally good! So I will for sure do another round soon!

What is your strategy for decluttering makeup? Do you have a hard time doing it, or are you able to be cut throat?

What’s In My Makeup Bag – March 2019!

This is one of the thing I look most forward to when we get into a new month. Getting a fresh set of makeup in my everyday makeup bag to play with. This is really something that helps motivate me to use makeup on an everyday basis. Just mixing things up and getting something new (or old) to focus on.

IMG_20190303_140023_778.jpg

These are my base makeup items. With the exception of the primer all of these items are in my project pan.

  • Maybelline FitMe Concealer – We all know this one right? It just blends so well and looks so nice and refreshing under the eye. I don’t have that much left, I am hooping it will last me through the month, but I will absolutely pick up a new one once it’s gone.
  • Lancôme Poudre Majeure Excellence Face Powder – This one is also really nice, but the price it too much for me to repuchase since I have a lot of other ecxpensive powders I prefer, but I will use and enjoy it while it lasts.
  • Colourpop No Filter Foundation – This was not quite a hit for me. Itæs not bad but it does not stand out. That’s why I put it in my project pan, to use it up. I doubt I will repurchase it though. The color is not the best either, It’s slightly too yellow, but with powder and bronzer on top I can make it work.
  • NYX Angel Veil – One of my favorite drugstore brushes for evening out the skin.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Airbrush Powder – One of my favorite pressed powders. I am almost out of it and it makes me sad!

IMG_20190303_140043_854.jpg

I loooove the blushes I selected for this month! They are all so lovely to wear.

  • Benefit World O’Blushes – This one has three blushes (classics from the Benefit selection) and their famous Hoola brozer. So this also holds my bronzer for this month.
  • YSL Blush Volupte “Heart Of Light” – A bright pink high quality blush. I love wearing bright pinks in winter.
  • MaryKay Baked Cheek Powder “Giving Heart” – This is a glowy blush. I looove glowy blushes.

IMG_20190303_140106_010.jpg

I may have gone a little bit over board with highlighters this month but I wanted to add them all because they all look great on my winter skin tone, and I have to take advantage of that little time I have left with my pale winter skin. Spring will be here in like two months after all.

  • Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Palette – This one has some fun shades and also a cream to use as a base. I havent used this since last winter so it was time to pull it out again.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter “Lunch Money” – This is my only project pan highlighter. It’s prefect for every day or as a base for other more intense highlighters.
  • Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter “Pearl” – This one is so lovely. I should really look into getting one or two more of the shades. Love how it looks, and the formula is so smooth and…buttery.
  • Colourpop Pressed Powder Highlighter “Twinkles” – This is an amazing pink duochrome blush with a blue shift. And surprisingly wearable, but it works best when I don’t have a tan. Like now.

IMG_20190303_140157_397.jpg

And here are my lipstick picks for March. I am working on my project pan lippies as best as I can, but I added one additional lippie just to be able to mix things up a little bit. But I had 7 lippies in my project pan, I am now down to six, but will I really use less then two months average on each product over the year? Well, can’t to much about it except keep working on it.

  • Catrice Long Lasting Lip Pencil – For the first time ever I am adding a lip pencil! To be honest wearing a lip pencil is not a habit of mine, but I figured it could be a nice way to change up the looks of some of the lip glosses. Besides I have a few lip pencils in my collection so I really should try to incorporate them into my routine some times. So I am excited to see how many times I can remember to use this.
  • Colourpop Blur Lux Lipstick “Y2K” – My first Lux lipstick in this formula. I am still not sure what to think of it. So I have to use it a few times to make up my mind. The color is a nice wearable one for every day though. Just need to test and try the formula a bit more.
  • H&M Sheer Lipstick “Arabesque” – I don’t have much left of this lipstick now! Hoping to be completely done with this by the end of the month.
  • MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss “I ❤ U” – This  is a light purple gloss. More on the sheer side so it’s quite wearable even though lilac is not my preferred shade.
  • MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss “Fashion Fanatic” – Bright baby pink gloss. Also a project pan gloss. I am half way through this.
  • MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss “Bubble Tea” – This light pink gloss I have about 1/3 or 1/4 left of. I am thinking about focusing my attention on this and maybe finish it by the end of March.
  • Clinique Long Lasting Gloss Wear “Black Honey” – I think I realized I am not really in love with this. I mean, the color is really nice, it’s the iconic Black Honey shade after all (it was super popular some years ago, anyone remember that?). I like the gloss stick side, but the gloss side is so sticky. You know that kind of sticky that grabs your hair. Well, I am stuck with it for a while now since it’s in my project pan, and I am not giving up.
  • Estee Lauder High Gloss “Pearl”– I am hoping I will get some more use out of this is I pair it with the lip liner. I think the color is slightly too light, but I am hoping that using it together with the lip liner will make me use it more often.

IMG_20190303_140127_819.jpg

And finally, the eyeshadows!

  • Zoeva Blanc Fusion – Time to pull out a new palette from the project pan and get to work. This one is barely used so my goal is to hit pan in one shade through the year. A simple neutral palette with a yellow shimmer pop!
  • NYX Full Throttle Palette “Take Over Control” – I figures this little quad would pair nicely with Blanc Fusion, and a black is always handy.
  • MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow –  And just to get some use out of my single shadows I threw this in as well. A simple champagne shade.

And that’s the whole bundle I will focus on in March. Do you have a product you want to get some extra use out of this month?

XOXO

My Makeup Collection 2019 – Small Eyeshadow Palettes!

I did this blog series in 2018 and it seemed to be very popular. Basically I just go through my collection part by part and show pictures about every single item in each category. The reason for this is not to show of my makeup to brag about how much I have. I just love looking at peoples collections in YouTube videos and blogs and I surely cannot be the only one. Collection videos and declutter videos are among my favorites to watch. Besides now that already done it one previous year I can compare to the year before and see how much my collection has grown or been reduced in each category.

Today it’s all about eyeshadow palettes, but in order not to make this post a mile long I have divided them into big and small eyeshadow palettes, which is less than 10 shades. The rest of them will be in another post. So, here are my tiny eyeshadow palette collection!

IMG_20190211_222702_922.jpg

  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Ador.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude

Trimony is the open one because that one is my favorite. These are nice all matte palettes with all neutral tones.

IMG_20190211_222745_373.jpg

Then are some older limited edition Kiko Milano palettes I got on holiday in Italy probably 6 or 7 year ago (yay for sanitizing spray) and some NYX Quads I totally forgot I had!

  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 02 Street Taupe Variation.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 03 Bright Night Lights.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 04 Rainy Smoky Shades.
  • NYX Full Throttle Eyeshadow Palette – Take Over Control.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – Lounge Warm Tones.
  • NYX Full Throttle Eyeshadow Palette – Stunner.

IMG_20190211_222835_951.jpg

And some more quads, among them my only eyeshadows from The Body Shop. The rest are limited edition Kiko Milano Quads.

  • Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 02 Luxurious Golds and Plum.
  • The Body Shop Eyeshadow Palette – Swinging Silver.
  • Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 08 Voluptous Violet.

  • Kiko Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 100.

IMG_20190211_222925_734.jpg

Do you guys remember these old Urban Decay palettes? I remember I used to collect them during the last year of my bachelor degree. That’s a long time ago! These are not used much, but I can’t part with them! I was so proud of these cool little palette because I was just starting to grow my high-end collection and I could not afford much at the time, so my collection grew very slow and these palettes were highly treasured. They bring back so many memories now!

  • Urban Decay – The Fun Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Dangerous Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Feminine Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Black Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Vegan Palette.
  • Urban Decay – Deluxe Shadow Box.

IMG_20190211_222956_014.jpg

And here is another nice mix of older palettes. The one from Dior I just had to keep closed because the packaging is so beautiful. The inside is just one pink and one white shade in addition to a lip color, but I got this for Christmas when I was 15 years old by my granddad that passed away a few months ago. So I am never getting rid of that even though it is 15+my age old (which is way to old for makeup).

  • Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Palette.
  • Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Eye Palette Long-Lasting – Rosewood.
  • Tarina Tarantino Jewel Eyeshadow Palette – Wonderful.
  • MAC 6 Twists of  Tartan Eye Shadows.
  • Dior Me Dior Me Not Lip & Eye Color Palette.
  • YSL Bayadere Style Eye Shadow.
  • Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette – Stylish Move.
  • Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette – Blue Lagoon.

IMG_20190211_223039_269.jpg

These are my Estee Lauder eyeshadows. These are also quite old. I used to wear those quads all the time during my master thesis. I am so close to hitting pan some of them actually. I do pick these up from time to time and wear them for good times sake.

  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Blue Dahlia.
  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Violet Underground.
  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Surreal Violet.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad – Black Smoke.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad- Berry Quartz.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad – Amber Honey.

IMG_20190211_223159_114.jpg

And some more fancy old palettes!

  • Chanel Les 4 Ombres – 41 Facination.
  • YSL 5 Colour Harmony For Eyes – WOIA.
  • Guerlain Ecrin 6 Couleurs – Champs-Elysees.
  • NARS Day And Night Palette.
  • NARS Ride Up To The Moon.
  • Chanel Les 4 Ombres – 14 Mystic Eyes.

I actually had the NARS Ride Up To The Moon in my monthly makeup bag in the end of 2018. I actually really love the quality.

IMG_20190211_223230_913.jpg

I ran out of logical ways to compose some of these palettes so here you get a very random mix in one picture.

  • Urban Decay Skull Shadow Box.
  • Urban Decay – The Theodora Palette.
  • Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Eyes To Go.
  • Too Faced Candy Bar – Thin Mints.
  • Sugarpill Burning Hearts Quad.

I figured with this Too Faced palettes it was almost better to show the outside (they are mostly neutral anyway). These are all in the old cardboard packaging like they used to do them in the old days. It’s the same thing with these as with the old Urban Decay palettes. I started collecting them during my bachelor degree, so these are getting pretty old.

  • Too Faced Summer Eye.
  • Too Faced Romantic Eye.
  • Too Faced Smoky Eye.
  • Too Faced Naked Eye.
  • Too Faced Natural Eye,
  • Too Faced Matte Eye.

I am usually more drawn to bigger palettes than smaller. The typical size I prefer is between 12-16 shades. So I don’t pick up these smaller ones too often, but I got a few during last year.

  • Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions.
  • Obsession London – Love.Every.Shade Palette.
  • Obsession London – If In Doubt Be A Unicorn.

IMG_20190211_223557_316.jpg

And finally, my smaller Colourpop palettes, which was also new since I did this post last year!

  • Colourpop – Brown Sugar.
  • Colourpop – Sol.
  • Colourpop – Oh La La.
  • Colourpop – Lit.
  • Colourpop – Mar.
  • Colourpop – Wet.

Last year I did a similar post as I mentioned, but I did not add all the palettes that I did now. I just made a post with small palettes but I only counted those who had 3-6 shades. You can read the post here. That means that comparing numbers is a bit meaningless since I do it a bit different this year by putting every palette with less than 10 shades in this category. The total count of small palettes is 61. Luckily my memory is not that bad so I know that 9 of these palettes are new this year, meaning I went from 52 small eyeshadow palettes in 2018 to 61 in 2019.

That is quite some growth, although my eyeshadow collection is the one that is increasing the most, and all palettes I picked up since last count are all cheap.

I always tend to be more interested in a little bit bigger palettes. Between 12 and 16 shades are perfect, so I don’t really pick up smaller palettes that often, although I am sure I will pick up almost everything Colourpop release also in 2019. Besides I am considering another one of those Huda palettes.

In your opinion, what is the perfect size of a palette?

What’s In My Makeup Bag – February 2019!

This is one of my favorite things about starting fresh on a new month. To pick out all the products I will use for one full month to do my everyday makeup. On weekends, evening or when I just want to play with makeup I just use whatever I want, but this is a bag worth of a full face of makeup for my everyday looks. This gives me a change to focus on some new products weather it is getting to know a new product for a review, working on a panning project or just to show some old makeup some love.

IMG_20190205_120431_986.jpg

I will transfer the Colourpop Fame from last month just to get a little more work done on it. This is in my project pan and since it’s my only cool toned palette I want to focus on it during winter. I got some nice wear on this in January but I don’t think I will hit any pans in February either. If not I will let this one rest and work on some other palettes until November when I find it more suitable to wear an all cool toned palette. But I am excited to get some more work done on it because I really do like it.

I also picked a little six pan from Kiko to match. The Street Taupe Variation palette has some nice cool-toned shimmers that I think will pair up very nicely to the colors in Fame.

IMG_20190205_120500_064.jpg

  • Prestige Make-up Gold Base: A hydrating, lifting, anti-aging, promising to make your whole life great again primer. I do like it, it’s hydrating at least. Don’t know about the rest of what it promise but it does give a nice base at least.
  • Tonymoly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream: This is from my project pan. I really like this BB Cream. It’s that sort of natural glow from within kind of products. Not much coverage, but I don’t really need that. The finish is lovely and the wear time is decent. I like this one tons more than the Colourpop No Filter foundation I had in last month so happy to switch them up.
  • NYX HD Studio Concealer: Another project pan item. I either hate or love this. It looks just fine and should be more than good enough for some simple everyday faces.
  • Kiko Flawless Fusion Bronzer: This one was also in January makeup bag. This one is just great, and the color is perfect for winter!
  • Dior Diorskin Nude: Because I need a powder, this one is great and it’s in my project pan.

IMG_20190205_120528_905.jpg

For blush I picked out my self made Colourpop blush palette that I haven’t used in a while. I love these blushes and here I get a nice selection of shades to choose from. The shade names from left to right is “Why,Hello”, “Parakeet” and “Weirdough” in the top row, and “Noodle”, “Glass Slipper” and “Main Chick” in the bottom row.

The mascara is the new one my Revolution called The Mascara Revolution. So far I’ve tried it around 30 times and I really do like it. I have an upcoming review of that one actually.

IMG_20190205_120555_603.jpg

Highlighters are always so fun to pick out. This month I decided to give my project pan highlighter “Lunch Money” by Colourpop a little rest and focus on these ones instead:

  • Colourpop Dream Sequence Super Shock Highlighter Palette: Since I am growing to be a huge super shock highlighter fan I am very excited to add this brand new highlighter palette with 4 highlighters in the super shock formula to this months bag. They look just so pretty!
  • Iconic London Illuminator: I will use this primarily to mix in with my foundation for those extra luminous days.
  • The Balm Mary Dew-Manizer: The very famous Mary Lou-Manizer in liquid form. I have used this a bit but it’s still fairly new. I am planning to do a review so I just want to get to know this product a bit better.

IMG_20190205_120621_526.jpg

Finally we got my selection of lipsticks and glosses. Most of them are in my project pan and you already saw them in last months makeup bag.

  • Colourpop Ultra Blottet Lip “Halo Effect”: This one is new,and this one is the only new item in my bag. But I really like the ultra blotted lip formula and the color looks nice.
  • Clinique Long Lasting GlossWear “Black Honey”: Transfer from last month. This is very sheer and not at all as dark as it looks. Works really nice as an everyday lippie that is more than just a nude but not loud in any way.
  • Isadora Jelly Kiss Lipstick “Bare Bliss”: I kind of have a plan to focus on this one because I do have a tiny hope I may be able to finish it! Wish me luck (I probably need it).
  • Estee Lauder High Gloss “Pearl”: I did not use this one last month even though it was in my makeup bag. I have a hard time reaching for it. I have to try again now this month because it’s in my project pan after all and need to be finished!
  • MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss – Shade name is worn of my it’s a nice pink.
  • MAC Plushglass Lip Gloss – This one I also lost the shade name of, but it’s more of a purple gloss. Both this one and the previous was in last moths bag, and get to go one more month.
  • H&M Sheer Lipstick “Arabesque”: I think this is my favorite among my project pan lippies, so very happy to transfer this to one more month in my bag,
  • Too Faced Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss: I have been enjoying the nice berry shade of this gloss. It also smells so delicious!

Do you have any products you want to give some extra use in February?

And remember, I also exist on Instagram!

My favorite shade in 10 palettes….and the least favorite as well!

I have seen a few YouTube videos floating around where people talk about the favorite shade in each of the palettes they picked out for the task. I have seen plenty of these by now, but Angelica Nyquist (her YouTube channel is amazing, especially if you like indie brands and colors) was the one who inspired me to finally do one myself, blogging style!

Now, this is not a video off course, and I decided to do a twist on it too. I picked out 10 different palettes from my collection and then I chose one favorite shade, and also the shade I like the least. Even though I did pick a least favorite shade from each palette, it does not mean that the shade is bad. I mean if the whole palette is good then also my least favorite shade will be good as well. But I could find a shade in each palette that I for some reason were not particularly drawn to, even though it was a bit hard at times.

IMG_20180902_145522_460.jpg

If you like this post and would like to see more of them, than let me know! I got plenty of palettes and could do several posts like this (It frightens me a bit to realize how many of these I could actually make without repeating any palettes). That means if you want to see them off course. They take way to much time to make if no one is interested, so let me know in the comments if you would like to see more (I am not getting insulted if you don’t, I promise).

IMG_20180902_145548_080.jpg

So this is how it will go: I will go through my pile of selected palettes and do a finger swatch of both my favorite and least favorite shade and explain why I chose them. In the end I will swatch all of my ten favorites together on my arm, and all of my least favorites in another swatch. Just to see how they look together, because why not!?

Let’s play!

IMG_20180902_133036_035.jpg

The first palette is Dominique Cosmetics Latte palette. Their first launch. If you have any further interest in this palette then you can check out my full review here or you can have a look at the 6 different makeup looks I did with it here.

IMG_20180902_133214_261.jpg

My favorite shade is Macchiato (left). It is such a gorgeous shimmer that goes so well with many looks. A simple but stunning shade. It also have a very nice and rich glow to it.

My least favorite is Double Shot (right). Not because it’s a bad shade. It’s actually a quite good matte purple. I am just not as drawn to that shade as the rest so when I had to pick one it’s this. Nothing bad with it really, just personal preference.

IMG_20180902_133241_406.jpg

The Tarte Tartelette Toasted is a very pretty warm toned neutral palette. As you probably can tell I’ve gotten quite a bit of use out of it. I got a review of this one as well, and I also compared it to Colourpop Double Entendre in a dupe post if you are curious about a cheaper alternative.

IMG_20180902_133546_404.jpg

I picked the two shades “Flame” (left) as my favorite and “Crackle” (right) as my least favorite. Flame I picked because it’s such a beautiful, rich warm shimmery brown. The perfect lid color and it’s one of the shades that “makes the palette” in my opinion. Picking the least favorite shade was easy in this palette. I don’t really like eyeshadows that have a matte base and flecks of glitter. That’s exactly what Crackle is. It does look pretty in the pan, but that glitter disappears so quickly from the eyes that I can’t understand why it’s not just a regular, usable matte instead.

IMG_20180902_133610_608.jpg

These shades don’t have names, but luckily the shadows in the Tarina Tarantino Jewel eyeshadow palette are easy to tell apart just by describing the shades. I think this is quite a cool palette because no one seems to know about it but it’s absolutely beautiful. The packaging is almost a gem itself, and the eyeshadows are nice.

IMG_20181021_181411_679.jpg

The shimmery pastel mint to the right is off course my favorite, and the brown with a dark matte base and golden shimmer is the least favorite. I just don’t like these kind of shades regardless of how beautiful they look in the pan. They are just not for me. The green I really like though. These kind of greens are perfect for everyday looks in my opinion because they offer a bit of color without being too much “in-your-face” if that makes sense.

IMG_20180902_135344_683.jpg

The next palette will maybe surprise you. It is a limited edition palette by the Italian makeup brand Kiko. This Kiko Colour Impact Eyeshadow Palette 03 Bright Night Lights I picked up while on vacation in Italy maybe 5 years ago or so, and as a matter of fact I do keep my out of date palettes, and the secret is clean brushes and sanitizing spray.

IMG_20180902_135453_243.jpg

Again the shades do not have names, but they are still easy to tell apart. You may thing that the color I would be most drawn to was the sparkly green, and not the peach base shade, and in most cases you would be right, but this basic peach is actually very unique. It’s not a matte, but a silky soft pearl finish, and it’s something about the undertone in this shade that makes blue eyes really pop, and its a beautiful shade to wear on the lid. Very different from what I would usually prefer in a palette, but this shade is so unique!

My least favorite shade is the purple. Not only because I think it’s a bit boring, but also because is just does not work very well. It’s hard to blend and when using it in the outer corner it tends to be quite patchy. It’s also very dusty. Not a good shade really. So that’s why it’s my least favorite in this little palette.

IMG_20180902_135521_503.jpg

Next palette is a new one (or fairly new) from Colourpop namely their Mar palette from the summer collection. I bet you can already tell my favorites shade, especially if you read the review.

IMG_20180902_135557_097.jpg

Off course it’s “Grindlock” the blue center shade. It’s such a gorgeous deep blue shimmer with small flecks of glitter. Now, there are not any bad shades in this palette at all, so I just had to pick one, and that was “El Rev” the top pale peach. It’s a beautiful color as well and the quality is great, I just predict that this will be the least used shade in this palette and that’s why I chose this one. All shadows in this palette is stunning though!

IMG_20180902_135647_815.jpg

This is an old one! The Vegan palette by Urban Decay. do you remember when they used to release there small 6 shadow palettes with the eyeliner pencil included? The eyeliner pencil is long gone, but this palette has some of the well known classic shades from Urban Decay.

IMG_20180902_135720_450.jpg

My favorite shade is a cult classic “Half Baked”. This one is in the original Naked palette too, and is a nice brown toned gold shade. It used to be my go-to golden shade back in the days when my makeup selection was a lot smaller. Now I just keep this palette mainly for memories (or if I want to use it in a Throwback Thursday makeup look).

Gunmetal is my least favorite shade. The quality of the shadow is OK, but I am just not that into greys. I just rarely remember to use them. Kind of a shame that I don’t like it because I think I have four of them in different Urban Decay palettes. They used to love to add this shade to palettes.

IMG_20180902_135945_268.jpg

Isn’t it strange that even though Colourpop is one of the younger brands in my collection it’s still the one I have the most palettes from. Or maybe it’s not so weird when they release a palette every other week in addition to being cheep. Not complaining though. I do love them!

IMG_20180902_140011_009.jpg

My favorite shade is “Blank Canvas” the red matte in the bottom left corner. This is probably the shade that impressed me the most because I didn’t really expect to love it, but its such a rich and beautiful color that works so well and blends out so easy.

My least favorite shade is “Feels”, the one in the top left corner. It’s not just the shade I like the least, it’s actually a shade I don’t like much at all. The pigmentation or shine is just not how I want it and it appears a bit chunky on the eyes since it needs to be built up.

IMG_20180902_135747_317.jpg

And then, my beloved Certifeye Tropical Wonders palette. My go-to palette for every colorful looks I want to make. You can see it’s well used. I just want to sit down and do rainbow looks with this all day! It looks a bit beat up now doesn’t it? Well loved, that’s all.

IMG_20180902_135918_212.jpg

I love color so off course I love the majority of the shadows in this palette, but my very favorite must be “Fruit Fly”. It’s quite a unique shade and I can’t recall that I’ve ever encountered a shade like this with this amount of pigmentation. And the name is cute too!

My least favorite is Typhoon. Not a bad shade, but I mean, when you look at the rest of the palette a boring grey is not what you reach for right? Or at least I don’t. I am not sure why this shade is in this palette anyway. I don’t feel it’s the natural color to reach for considering the rest of the color selection. The grey works fine though, it’s just a big “grey” compared to the rest.

IMG_20180902_140034_323.jpg

The Caramel Melange palette, one of my favorites by Zoeva. These brown and golden shimmer shades look like liquid metal when swatched. This is easily among my top three Zoeva palettes (for reference I got 16 so that’s not bad at all!).

IMG_20180902_140111_347.jpg

My favorites was easy to pick. “Liquid Center” is just to rich, smooth, buttery, pigmented and everything good a shadow can be. Simply a delicious shade.

The least delicious shade is “Edible Gem”. I can’t stress enough that I don’t like matte based shadows with glitter in. I just don’t see the point in them as they usually just looks like a flat matte and the small specs of shimmer are either gone, or all over your face. So since this shade has that formula it’s the obvious choice.

IMG_20180902_145435_638.jpg

The final palette happens to be the favorite palette of one of my favorite brands. Juvia’s Place The Magic Palette. This is magic for sure, and the colors are so beautiful!

IMG_20180902_145458_663.jpg

It was so hard to pick a favorite shade. It could easily have been almost any one of the four on the bottom row, but I had to pick one in the end and I picked “Yara” but there are so many shades in this palette that are equally beautiful.

This is another one of those palettes with no bad shades, so I picked “Osun” just because pinks are never my favorite, but the quality is impeccable.

And now that we have picked all the favorite and least favorite shades in the palette I figured it would be fun to swatch them together and see what the color story looked like. So I did one arm with the “Bad” swatches, and one with the good ones to have a look.

IMG_20180902_194838_449.jpg

Let’s start with the bad ones. They are swatched in the same order as I presented the palettes. If this was a palette on it’s own I would for sure not buy it. Not just because the color story is not my thing, but I don’t thin I will ever buy a palette with three dark brown mattes with specks of golden glitter in them. Actually looking at this I am surprised by how often they appeared. But since the rest of the shades are purples, pinks and greys it’s easy to see what color stories I usually don’t go for.

IMG_20180902_194741_115.jpg

Swatches of the good shades are much more appealing. No surprise off course! It’s not the most cohesive color story, but at least they are all very pretty shades. I am not surprised at all that we find both green and blues. Those two shades are the ones I find hardest to resist. It’s almost always the colors I am drawn to in palettes. These swatches are just so much more appealing to me, but what do you think? If these were two palettes which one would you choose?

Do you have any of these palettes, and what would your favorite or least favorite shadows be?
