My Makeup Collection 2018 – Powders!

Powder to the people! Sorry, that is so cheesy. But I do like powders and don’t know how I would do without them in my everyday routine. I use a powder every single day to set my face, and a good powder can really lift a look to the next level.

Considering this is a product I use everyday I think my collection is fairly reasonable. However, I am trying not to pick up any more powders. I want to try to finish a few of the powders I know I won’t repurchase again when I run out in addition to the powder I have in my project pan. So when those items are gone I will be left only with powders I truly love. What a great feeling!

Anyway, lets start with the good part or what? The gems of my powder collection. The Guerlain Meteorites!

As you may be able to tell, I collect these. Every time Guerlain release a new powder that I fancy the packaging of I pick it up. These are more collection items, and besides the original that I can easily repurchase, I rarely use them. Still, they are highly treasured.

  • Guerlain Météorites Perlees Du Paradis (Limited Edition 2012).
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles De Légende (Limited Edition Holliday 2016).
  • Guerlain Météorites Gold Pearl (Limited Edition Holliday 2017).
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles D’Azur Emilio Pucci (Limited Edition Summer 2012).
  • Guerlain Météorites (Original) – 2 Clair.
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles Du Dragon (Limited Edition 2012).

I truly love these guys and will hopefully fancy one or two during this year to pick up. I already got my hopes up for the holiday collection since I usually really like them. Fingers crossed!

  • Skinfood Buckwheat Loose Powder – This is so incredible fine milled and looks great. In addition it is so cheap (unfortunately so is the packaging).
  • Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder – This looks soooo beautiful on the skin and is a big favorite in the dryer winter months. Will always repurchase this!
  • Lancôme Poudre Majeure Excellence – Good powder, but nothing exceptional. Want to finish this one and will not repurchase.
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (Light Plus) – This is a repurchase, and will continue to repurchase. Porcelain skin in a compact!
  • The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Powder – Great for those days when your forehead wants to steal the show and shine. This powder tones it down and let’s my highlighter take over the show instead. I will always pick up a new one of these. Plus, super cute packaging.

  • History of Whoo Jewel Powder – Good loose powder, but the container is just too big and clumpy and takes up too much space. Even though the powder itself is really nice I am working on this for my project pan and will not pick up a new one once I am done.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder – Does exactly what the name said it will, and is totally worth all the hype. I have less than half left and I am considering picking up a backup already. I will always always have this in my collection!
  • Dior Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup – Beautiful loose powder. I want to finish this since it is quite old, but I will pick up a new one for sure. So pretty!
  • Hope Girl Powder Compact – Fun packaging, but the product is a bit6 lackluster. It works fine enough but nothing I will repurchase. Hope to finish this one too!.
  • Kiko Matte Fusion Pressed Powder – This one is almost done, so I hope to finish it soon. It does not keep me matte at all despite its name. I usually really like Kiko face powders but this one was a miss. Does an OK job setting makeup, but does nothing for shine. Will finish it but not repurchase.

So overall, 5 powders I want to finish but only one of them will be a repurchase so my collection should decline with 4 powders before I pick up a new one (let’s just say limited edition Guerlain stuff is an exception). The total amount of powders are 17. I am actually quite proud of that.

I have my eyes on that Becca powder though, and think I will treat myself with it when I get through those 5 I want to finish, but for now I think I am good with powders.

And you? How is your collection? Do you prefer keeping just one or two that you use, or are you a collector who likes to try new things and have a collection to match? Let me know about your powder collection in the comments!

Do you have a favorite gloss I should try?

Review: Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation – My Holy Grail!

I guess since my title is a total spoiler alert, you know exactly what I think of this foundation, but if you want to know why I suggest you stick around for a while.

This is a beautiful natural foundation with a light to medium coverage depending on how much you want to build it. I purchased it in June 2017 because I wanted something natural and light weight with SPF for summer. Just a fresh faced foundation that felt light on the skin. I immediately fell in love with this.

The foundation was just what I was hoping for. It looks very natural on the skin. It is not very visible that I am wearing a foundation, but it still seems to perfect my skin. Since this does not have a lot of coverage it would probably not be the favorite of someone who wants to hide a lot of redness, but since I have fairly good skin with not much to hide, I am more in need of something that evens out, then this has a beautiful finish.

The finish of the foundation is wonderful too. It is neither dewy or matte, but gives just a healthy-skin-finish. It is quite liquid and that makes it very easy to blend out, and I found it to be very fast to apply on the skin. No fuzzing around to try to make it look nice, it just melts effortlessly into the skin.

Since I see no point in showing pictures of my face with foundation to show what it can do (I don’t have much to cover and I would have a hard time making something show up in photos) I decided to use my scary arm instead. You’ve already seen this scar on my swatch posts, so no need to be shy here, but here it is completely naked when you don’t focus on pretty eyeshadow colors. It is pretty visible.

So the top picture is without any foundation at all. The middle one is with a single layer, and the bottow one is with two layers. As you can see some redness still shines through, but I think it is pretty deacent for a natural foundation. And just look how nice the finish is though. It just looks like healthy skin with a scar!

I just noticed that my arms are pretty transparent. I think I need some sun. Or fake tan…..if I only were not too lazy for that sort of thing!

I guess when you see that the brand is Guerlain you already know it’s going to be expensive, and for 63$ for 1 fl.oz that is a pretty accurate guess. I think it is worth it though, since this is my all time favorite, but I guess it is great to try to grab a sample of this first before committing to the whole thing.

Did you try this one yourself? I would love to hear more opinions.

My Makeup Collection 2018 – Lipsticks!

Time to have a look at my traditional bullet lipsticks! I already posted my liquid lipstick collection so if you are interested in those just have a look here.

But today it is all about bullets, and I want to start off with something iconic, namely my MAC lipstick collection!

First Row:

  • MAC Lipstick – Viva Glam Gaga 2.
  • MAC Lipstick – Ruby Woo.
  • MAC Lipstick – Velvet Teddy.
  • MAC Lipstick – Watch Me Simmer
  • MAC Lipstick  – Flamingo
  • MAC Lipstick – Antique Velvet.
  • MAC Lipstick – Russian Red.
  • MAC Lipstick – Myth.
  • MAC Lipstick – Twig.

Second Row:

  • MAC Lipstick – Lady Danger.

  • MAC Lipstick – Syrup.
  • MAC Lipstick – Brave.
  • MAC Lipstick – Angel.
  • MAC Lipstick – Viva Glam Gaga.
  • MAC Lipstick – Patisserie.
  • MAC Lipstick – Viva Glam I.

I am still a huge fan of the MAC lipstick formula, and add pieces to my collection here and there. They used to be very big some years ago, back when MAC was a much bigger thing than it is now. Not that they are small by any means, we just have more options now. I like to talk about makeup “in the old days” and sounding like I am 80 years old. That is only my mental age, in reality I am much younger. Anyway, loved these back then, still do!

  • Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick – You’re A Star.
  • Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick – Liberty.
  • KIKO lipstick – 396.
  • NYX Black Label Lipstick  – Wine
  • NYX Black Label Lipstick – Strawberry Shortcake.
  • NYX Black Label Lipstick – Dusty Rose.

  • H&M High Shine Lipstick – Tartarian Cherry.
  • H&M High Shine Lipstick – Brown Sugar.
  • H&M Lipstick – Tea Rose.
  • H&M Lipstick – Limelight.

A small bunch of miscellaneous drugstore. The “Dusty Rose” black label lipstick is sucha great MLLB kind of lippie, and they are super comfy to wear aswell! The rest of the products on this picture I have to honestly say I don’t use that much (but I should).

  • Makeup Revolution Lipstick – Stiletto.
  • Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipstick – Vow.
  • Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipstick – Luxe.
  • Makeup Revolution Lipstick – Chauffeur.
  • Oriflame Giordani Gold Lipstick – Nude Chrystal.
  • Oriflame Giordani Gold Lipstick – Prune.
  • Nakeupface C-Cup Lip Tox-Tick – Kiss Mark.
  • Nakeupface C-Cup Lip Tox-Tick – Stalker

The Makeup Revolution lipsticks are quite pretty aren’t they? I have been wondering for a while to make a comparison post of the Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipstick VS the Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks. Let me know if you want to see that.

I also made a review of the Nakeupface C-Cup Lip Tox-Tick lipsticks a while back and you can find it here if you are curios about some K-Beauty lipsticks!

  • Estée Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick – Midnight Bloom.
  • Estée Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick – Shimmering Blush.
  • Estée Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick – Pomegranade.
  • Dior Addict Lipstick – Icone.

This picture actually brings back a lot of memories to me because the Estée Lauder and Dior lipsticks I collected while I was doing my master studies, and I was so excited about them since I was a student and could not afford luxury makeup on a regular basis. These were so highly treasured and brings back some very fond memories. I haven’t used them in a long time now, and I really should (as always).

  • Colourpop Lippie Stix – Tutu.
  • Colourpop Lippie Stix – Pack Pack.
  • Colourpop Lippie Stix – Weekender.

I am kind of surprised that I don’t have more shades because I am a big Lippie Stix fan and nothing can beat this price! I am particularly fond of the nudes, and I need some more! I bet this part of the collection will grow this year.

  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine – 61 – Boheur.

Chanel, MAC and Guerlain. All in black sleek and elegant packaging! Whats not to love about that!

  • Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick – 912 Electric Orange.
  • Lola Ultra Drench Lipstick – Steam.
  • The Balm Read My Lips Lipstick – Wanted.
  • KIKO Mango Butter Lipstick – 13 Natural Pink.

As usual I like to count and keep track and the amount of lipsticks are 97. I don’t think that is too bad, and I expect 2 of them to be come through my project pan 2018. I also expect a lot more to be added due to my very eager shopping and collector urges. I can already tell I got 5 of Colourpops Luxe Lipsticks on their way, and I am sure they won’t be the only ones. I am still a firm believer that you can never have too many nudes, and I also love a good red!

Do we have any lipstick shades in common?

Top three Luxury brands of 2017

The first of a series of three blog posts where I talk about my top three makeup brands of the year. In this post I will talk a bit about the luxury brands I loved in 2017 and highlight a few of the products I adore from each brand, there are some very excellent products here well worth the splurge of a luxury makeup item! There will also be posts with my top three high-end and top three affordable makeup brands, so make sure to follow my blog so you won’t miss out on my more affordable favorites!

So lets get started and talk about some great luxury brands I recommend you check out! I picked out three brands but they are in no particular order. I just would not be able to rank one brand over the other. So in no particular order, here are my favorite luxury brands of 2017:

Lancôme has always been one of my go-toes when I want a new mascara. They very often work great for me, and I’ve finished a few tubes of Lancôme mascara this year, including the Grandiose mascara (not pictured, it is empty and trashed!) that I loved and will surely pick up again at some point, and the Hypnotic Dolls Eyes which is a great mascara, just a bit too natural for me. The Volume-à-Porter (in picture) is my go-to at the moment. Lancôme mascaras in general often  seem to be a safe pick for me. They don’t always become my very favorites, but they are always great mascaras!

The Teint Idole Ultra Wear is a foundation I only tried recently, and it is clearly among my all time top three foundation. I actually went through half the bottle already. Supreme staying power and georgeous on the skin!

Not to mention that Lancôme blushes have been my favorite luxury-brand blushers for years. If you should try only one luxury blush this should be one to consider.

Not surprisingly, Guerlain is here too! I am a passionate collector of their limited edition mètèorite pearls and terracotta bronzers and I have quite a few of them. These are not however everyday products, to be fair many of them are considered collector pieces and are untouched to maintain pristine condition, so those products alone are not enough to bump this brand on a top three list.

My hole grail foundation is though! I purchased this during the summer, and I am absolutely blown away. To me, The Lingerie de Peau foundation is perfection. I don’t throw around the phrase “holy grail” all that often, but this one truly is. If I could only wear one foundation for the rest of my life I would be completely content picking this, and just forgetting about the rest!

Their liquid lipsticks also have a beautiful non-drying formula. I picked up two shades, Tempting Rose and Charming Beige, and they are such beautiful everyday colors that lasts a long time and feels super comfy. I will definitely pick up more shades, I just wish they would expand their color selection because I feel that the 7 shades they have to offer are not nearly enough.

Lastly, Dior needed to be included. I always tend to enjoy their face products and lip stuff. Their highlighter and bronzers from their Nude line have a special place in my heart and we go back for years. Their loose setting powder is wonderful, and I also enjoy their eyeshadow palettes. Thinking about it, I don’t think I have any misses from Dior. They are just a solid brand that works for me.

One of my new discoveries are the Dior Liquid lipsticks that they released this year. I picked up the shade 999, which is their classic red shade (they have it in a bullet lipstick as well) and is fits the season perfect right now. So pretty!

I also need to cheat a bit and mention Natasha Denona! The reason why this brand is not on my top three list is because I’ve only tried their eyeshadows, and I only wanted to include brands I’ve tried and loved several different products by. But I did purchase my first Natasha Denona palette this year, and now I have collected three of them; The Brown-Green 28 shadow palette, the Lila palette and the Sunset palette. I hope to pick up some more during 2018. These are my absolute favorite eyeshadow formula that I’ve ever tried so I just had to mention them.

What are your favorite luxury brands? Let me know!
