Colourpop Lit Eyeshadow Palette – 4 Makeup Looks!

This tiny little palette is so pretty! Intensely warm, like a fire! 8 stunning shades in a small clutch sized little palette. Even though I had already tested and tried all the colors in the first two looks I did, I had to do a couple more. The shades are so pretty!

These are the four looks I did!

My Makeup Collection 2019 – Small Eyeshadow Palettes!

I did this blog series in 2018 and it seemed to be very popular. Basically I just go through my collection part by part and show pictures about every single item in each category. The reason for this is not to show of my makeup to brag about how much I have. I just love looking at peoples collections in YouTube videos and blogs and I surely cannot be the only one. Collection videos and declutter videos are among my favorites to watch. Besides now that already done it one previous year I can compare to the year before and see how much my collection has grown or been reduced in each category.

Today it’s all about eyeshadow palettes, but in order not to make this post a mile long I have divided them into big and small eyeshadow palettes, which is less than 10 shades. The rest of them will be in another post. So, here are my tiny eyeshadow palette collection!

IMG_20190211_222702_922.jpg

  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Ador.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude

Trimony is the open one because that one is my favorite. These are nice all matte palettes with all neutral tones.

IMG_20190211_222745_373.jpg

Then are some older limited edition Kiko Milano palettes I got on holiday in Italy probably 6 or 7 year ago (yay for sanitizing spray) and some NYX Quads I totally forgot I had!

  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 02 Street Taupe Variation.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 03 Bright Night Lights.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – 04 Rainy Smoky Shades.
  • NYX Full Throttle Eyeshadow Palette – Take Over Control.
  • Kiko Color Impact Eyeshadow Palette – Lounge Warm Tones.
  • NYX Full Throttle Eyeshadow Palette – Stunner.

IMG_20190211_222835_951.jpg

And some more quads, among them my only eyeshadows from The Body Shop. The rest are limited edition Kiko Milano Quads.

  • Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 02 Luxurious Golds and Plum.
  • The Body Shop Eyeshadow Palette – Swinging Silver.
  • Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 08 Voluptous Violet.
  • Kiko Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 101.
  • Kiko Color Seduction Eyeshadow Palette – 05 Astonishing Emerald.
  • Kiko Color Fever Eyeshadow Palette – 100.

IMG_20190211_222925_734.jpg

Do you guys remember these old Urban Decay palettes? I remember I used to collect them during the last year of my bachelor degree. That’s a long time ago! These are not used much, but I can’t part with them! I was so proud of these cool little palette because I was just starting to grow my high-end collection and I could not afford much at the time, so my collection grew very slow and these palettes were highly treasured. They bring back so many memories now!

  • Urban Decay – The Fun Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Dangerous Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Feminine Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Black Palette.
  • Urban Decay – The Vegan Palette.
  • Urban Decay – Deluxe Shadow Box.

IMG_20190211_222956_014.jpg

And here is another nice mix of older palettes. The one from Dior I just had to keep closed because the packaging is so beautiful. The inside is just one pink and one white shade in addition to a lip color, but I got this for Christmas when I was 15 years old by my granddad that passed away a few months ago. So I am never getting rid of that even though it is 15+my age old (which is way to old for makeup).

  • Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Palette.
  • Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Eye Palette Long-Lasting – Rosewood.
  • Tarina Tarantino Jewel Eyeshadow Palette – Wonderful.
  • MAC 6 Twists of  Tartan Eye Shadows.
  • Dior Me Dior Me Not Lip & Eye Color Palette.
  • YSL Bayadere Style Eye Shadow.
  • Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette – Stylish Move.
  • Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette – Blue Lagoon.

IMG_20190211_223039_269.jpg

These are my Estee Lauder eyeshadows. These are also quite old. I used to wear those quads all the time during my master thesis. I am so close to hitting pan some of them actually. I do pick these up from time to time and wear them for good times sake.

  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Blue Dahlia.
  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Violet Underground.
  • Estee Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette – Surreal Violet.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad – Black Smoke.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad- Berry Quartz.
  • Estee Lauder Signature Quad – Amber Honey.

IMG_20190211_223159_114.jpg

And some more fancy old palettes!

  • Chanel Les 4 Ombres – 41 Facination.
  • YSL 5 Colour Harmony For Eyes – WOIA.
  • Guerlain Ecrin 6 Couleurs – Champs-Elysees.
  • NARS Day And Night Palette.
  • NARS Ride Up To The Moon.
  • Chanel Les 4 Ombres – 14 Mystic Eyes.

I actually had the NARS Ride Up To The Moon in my monthly makeup bag in the end of 2018. I actually really love the quality.

IMG_20190211_223230_913.jpg

I ran out of logical ways to compose some of these palettes so here you get a very random mix in one picture.

  • Urban Decay Skull Shadow Box.
  • Urban Decay – The Theodora Palette.
  • Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Eyes To Go.
  • Too Faced Candy Bar – Thin Mints.
  • Sugarpill Burning Hearts Quad.

IMG_20190211_223321_872.jpg

I figured with this Too Faced palettes it was almost better to show the outside (they are mostly neutral anyway). These are all in the old cardboard packaging like they used to do them in the old days. It’s the same thing with these as with the old Urban Decay palettes. I started collecting them during my bachelor degree, so these are getting pretty old.

  • Too Faced Summer Eye.
  • Too Faced Romantic Eye.
  • Too Faced Smoky Eye.
  • Too Faced Naked Eye.
  • Too Faced Natural Eye,
  • Too Faced Matte Eye.

IMG_20190211_223530_253.jpg

I am usually more drawn to bigger palettes than smaller. The typical size I prefer is between 12-16 shades. So I don’t pick up these smaller ones too often, but I got a few during last year.

  • Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions.
  • Obsession London – Love.Every.Shade Palette.
  • Obsession London – If In Doubt Be A Unicorn.

IMG_20190211_223557_316.jpg

And finally, my smaller Colourpop palettes, which was also new since I did this post last year!

  • Colourpop – Brown Sugar.
  • Colourpop – Sol.
  • Colourpop – Oh La La.
  • Colourpop – Lit.
  • Colourpop – Mar.
  • Colourpop – Wet.

Last year I did a similar post as I mentioned, but I did not add all the palettes that I did now. I just made a post with small palettes but I only counted those who had 3-6 shades. You can read the post here. That means that comparing numbers is a bit meaningless since I do it a bit different this year by putting every palette with less than 10 shades in this category. The total count of small palettes is 61. Luckily my memory is not that bad so I know that 9 of these palettes are new this year, meaning I went from 52 small eyeshadow palettes in 2018 to 61 in 2019.

That is quite some growth, although my eyeshadow collection is the one that is increasing the most, and all palettes I picked up since last count are all cheap.

I always tend to be more interested in a little bit bigger palettes. Between 12 and 16 shades are perfect, so I don’t really pick up smaller palettes that often, although I am sure I will pick up almost everything Colourpop release also in 2019. Besides I am considering another one of those Huda palettes.

In your opinion, what is the perfect size of a palette?

Colourpop Good Sport Eyeshadow Palette – Review & Swatches!

The first thing I thought when I got this palette was that it looks so much richer and deeper in color in real life than what it does online, big bonus! The other thing was that I could immediately spot an eyeshadow or two that I don’t already own, which is always a great thing considered I don’t exactly have the smallest of collections (There will be collection posts coming soon as I did last year in case you are curious). In other words, this was a welcome edition to my collection.

IMG_20190102_094301_620.jpg

It’s just Colourpops standard 12-pan eyeshadow palettes. No mirror, simple cardboard packaging and slim easy-to-store design. Out of all their eyeshadow palette formats I think I like the 12-pan ones the best. They are not too small, not to big and still enough shadows to give a nice variety of colors. Colourpop are generally very good in narrating their palettes, because you rarely get eyeshadows that look too similar. That’s the case with this palette too. The color scheme is really well put together with proper fall shades. You got burgundy, yellow, greens and purples.

IMG_20190102_094234_269.jpg

You get 7 mattes and 5 metallics in this palette. That gives you plenty of nice mattes to play with. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything in particular when I have been using this. You got your basic crease shades as well as darker shades to deepen the look. The only thing that some of you may feel is missing is that matte bone shade to set the lid. Personally I have so many matte bone shades now that I really don’t feel it’s necessary. Besides I find that using a powder I would set my face with works just as well anyway. In addition to a nice selection of mattes you have some stunning metallic options. The two greens and the yellow are particularly nice, and I don’t think I even own a dupe for EBB.

IMG_20190102_094327_018.jpg

The overall quality is as usual really really great. I am still in love with the metallic formula from Colourpop, and the mattes are great as well! The only shade I had slight issues with was “Sista” the bright matte purple. I found that it was a little bit harder to blend than the other mattes. Still completely possible to make it work, but it did require a little bit of extra attention. Besides that shade they all worked just as well as Colourpop usually does, which is great!

IMG_20190102_154055_043.jpg

Honestly I think this is one of the best color schemes released by Colourpop this year!

As always I end up recommending the Colourpop palettes I review. You can’t really go wrong with them, so if you are a fan of the colors they are always worth grabbing.

Top 3 Affordable Makeup Brands in 2018!

I did this blog series last year too, where I do three different blog posts talking about the top 3 affordable brands, top 3 high-end brands and top 3 luxury brands. Since it’s always a lot of fun evaluating favorites I decided to do the same this year.

Today we go through the 3 affordable brands I have been using and loving the most throughout the year. Making this little list was soooo easy this year. I just knew right from the top of my head what the brands would be. So let’s talk some makeup!

My top 3 affordable brands (in no particular order:

1st – Makeup Revolution/Revolution Pro

I group Makeup Revolution and Revolution Pro in once because many people (including me) don’t really know the difference. I think it’s been a couple of years now since my first Makeup Revolution order, and it was not the best success. I mean, some products where OK, some where below average, but I did not find anything that amazed me within the first orders. But lately, since they did their re-branding, I am under the impression that the overall quality has improved a lot! I found several gorgeous highlighters, some everyday staple lipstick and even some quite good eyeshadow palettes. And everything it cheap as chips as well!

Things I love that I would like to mention is theri highlighters. They have so many good ones but the Highlighter trio and the Radiance highlighter stands out a bit from the crowd in my opinion. They also released some really good lip toppers with their holliday collection, and off course I cannot forget to mention their big big hit, the Conceal & Define concealer!

2nd – Colourpop

Off course I had to mention Colourpop. I thing this is the brand I have purchased the most items from throughout the whole year. Partly because the constantly put out new releases, and partly because they are super affordable with great quality. Most of the things I’ve tried from them I have enjoyed (a few exceptions do exist though).

The one Colourpop product that are closest to my heart is off course their eyeshadow palettes. The quality is unbeatable for the price. Their eyeshadow formula is among my top three formulas, and that’s including every brand I’ve ever tried from the cheapest drugstore to the most high end luxury formulas. Their palettes have become like Pokemons. Gotta catch them all!

3rd – Juvia’s Place

On more brand that offers amazing quality eyeshadows for a low cost is Juvia’s Place. I fell in love with their formula when I tried the Magic palette, and I have made it a mission to collect every single eyeshadow palette since then. I am actually doing pretty good on that mission, and I will soon have them all. This brand does not dissapoint. Not only do they have a killer metallic formula, they also have an amazing price point. The palettes are cheap in the first place, but you find them on sale so often you can get them for even less than a Colourpop palette!

I love their eyeshadow palettes and are also a big fan of their blushes. The packaging is also so quirky and fun! Can’t wait to see what this brand has planned for us in 2019!

If you had to pick one or three favorite affordable brands this past year what would it be? I am curious to know!

I at least am very excited to see what all these three brands have in store for us in 2019.

Makeup Hauls – November 2018!

I went a bit crazy this month. And when I say that I did not even receive everything I ordered yet, you will understand why I say that because I already got quite a bit in the mail already! Almost can’t believe there is still more to come.

I am trying to plan out some sort of  low-buy though, so I needed to stock up on things to review. I can always find  an excuse you know! I will get back to you with a low-buy when I figure out when and how, but I think I will try out a low-buy in December to begin with and take it from there.

Anyway, November was high-buy, so here is the stuff I picked up!

IMG_20181116_220401_473.jpg

I decided to dive into the Obsession London brand and picked up a few items that looks promising. The palette to the left is “All We Have Is Now”. The two blush palettes are “Mad About Mauve” and “Pinky Promise”, and the highlighter palette is “Dedicated”. The fun looking palette to the right is “If In Doubt Be A Unicorn”. I am guilty of picking up the last one just for the name. But don’t they all looks so pretty though? And this whole bundle just cost me 30£ which is just amazing if these are any good!

IMG_20181125_211615_164.jpg

I have been the best customer at Tambeauty lately (the online retailer for Makeup Revolution, Revolution PRO, Obsession London etc). The palettes from the Christmas collection look so beautiful I had to pick up all three of them. First one came last month. This is the Revolution Jewel Collection Eyeshadow Palette “Gilded”, the last one can be found later in this post. I also got the Makeup Revolution The Mascara Revolution. I have heard good things, and I have heard it being compared to one of my drugstore favorites namely L’Oreal Paradise Extatic, so I am excited. I decide to try out the Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded palettes in “Velvet Rose” and “Iconic Division”. I am really happy about how they look, so I am hoping they are decent. The price is incredible 4£!

IMG_20181125_201826_533.jpg

Also the Nabla Poison Garden Eyeshadow Palette found it’s way home to me. I love the single pan eyeshadows from Nabla Cosmetics and especially the mattes are so good. I am hoping this one will be good as well.

IMG_20181125_211554_649.jpg

OK, I have been picking up new palettes like crazy this month I have to admit that, but Colourpop is so affordable! This is the Oh La La and the Brown Sugar eyeshadow palettes. I really like the size of these small little 9 pans!

IMG_20181125_211531_889.jpg

The Bretman X Colourpop collection also tempted me…naturally! I picked up the Lit and the Wet eyeshadow palettes in addition to the two Glitterally Obsessed Body Glitters. I don’t know who Bretman is but he sure can make pretty things together with Colourpop!

IMG_20181125_211638_297.jpg

After hearing so many great things about the BH Cosmetics Desert Oasis Palette I finally picked it up. I also got the BH Cosmetics Royal Affair palette but only because I love the Festival palette so much and since this has a similar layout I am hoping it will have a similar formula.

IMG_20181205_145949_316.jpg

I also picked up the BH Cosmetics 28 Foil Eyes Eyeshadow Palette. This one I just grabbed because Beautybay had a 3 for 2 offer on BH Cosmetics, and it got good reviews by Temptalia. Not sure how much use I will get out of an all foiled palette, but I guess I have plenty of matte shadows to throw in the mix.

IMG_20181205_150305_231.jpg

Something I really can add more of to my collection is glitter. They are excellent to amp up any look, and I really only have a few. So my glitter collection is something I would be very happy to see grow. On top you have The Gypsy Shrine Chunky Unicorn. I just love that it’s called chunky unicorn! And the two gels are Colourpop Glitterally Obsessed in  “Avenue Of The Starts” and “Puffin”. I only picked Puffins because I love them. I actually have spent some field seasons in a bird cliff working a bit with them (biologist), so when I found a glitter with that name off course I had to have it!

IMG_20181205_150327_175.jpg

Since I already got the two other ones then I guess I had to pick up the third and last palette from the Jewel collection of Makeup Revolution. This is the Opulent Eyeshadow Palette, with the silver packaging and the more pink toned neutrals. The top row of shadows in these palettes are stunning by the way!

IMG_20181205_150017_438.jpg

I also decided to take my chances with a new Morphe palette. I’ve only tried the Jacklyn Hill palette (the big white one) and I really liked that, but the rest of the Morphe palettes never caught my attention (and I don’t think the old ones are good). But I decided to give the Morphe 35M Boss Mood Artistry palette a chance because it’s got some nice interesting shades and not just 35 boring browns.

IMG_20181205_150043_412.jpg

I didn’t buy just eyeshadow palettes though. I also got myself a new highlighter. I love the Maybelline Master Chrome highlighters, so I picked up Maybelline Chrome Extreme in “Sandstone” and hope it will become a hit just like the regular Master Chrome Highlighters.

IMG_20181205_150115_251.jpg

Some hair care stash from Feelunique. The KMS Add Volume Volumizing Spray is something I decided to pick up after finishing a mini sample. I really like how this gives volume to my hair while making it feel refreshed and almost clean again. The Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force Smoothing Lotion Spray is one of my holy grails and I use it after every shower.

IMG_20181205_150357_604.jpg

And just one order to try out Obsession London makeup is not enough (how about testing one palette first before ordering 4?…Not my style apparently). This is the Obsession Belle Jordon Palette (top) and Obsession Be Crazy About Palette (bottom). Don’t you think the colorful one looks like so much fun? I did some quick swatches and they can actually be good! Hopefully they will also be good on the eyes.

IMG_20181205_150241_216.jpg

Off course, I did get my lipstick bundle from Liveglam. The KissMe Liquid Lipsticks have become one of my favorite formulas (except their darker shades, those are not that great) and I always enjoy getting my subscription bundle. This month we got three brown toned nudes. The shades from left to right are Numero Uno, Most Wanted and Relevant. All very pretty shades!

IMG_20181205_150451_389.jpg

The reason why I keep buying way to many palettes can be at least partly blamed on Colourpop. I mean. how can I turn down this?? The Colourpop Chasing Rainbows is a fun addition to my collection, and a proof that Colourpop can go back to be called Colourpop instead of Nudiepop that they were for a while. I want more of palettes like this!

I received no less than 18 eyeshadow palettes this month. 18! That’s crazy. I may have to increase my number of posts to get through reviewing and posting looks with all of these! But I know I will have a lot of fun doing it. The tough question is where to start! I enjoy creating looks and writing reviews after all! But I do have to slow down a bit. I hope to only pick up 3 palettes next month and I will try my best to do so. I do have some more palettes arriving, among them three from Juvia’s Place and one from Violet Voss, so the next monthly haul won’t be a total dud even if I try to reduce my purchases.

I really do need to pick up the Colourpop Salvaje palette and the new Juvia’s Place palette, and there are so many more on my wish list! Any low-buy tips are welcome!

Did you pick up anything exciting this month?

Did I make you feel like you didn’t buy that much after all after seeing this mile long post?

Let me know in the comments!

Trash Talk – My Latest Empties!

IMG_20181021_193106_418.jpg

My never ending pile of empties! Time for another summary of some of the products I’ve finished lately.

IMG_20181021_193128_454.jpg

#129 Rituals Hammam Happiness Volume & Shine Conditioner: A very freshly eucalyptus scented conditioner with a cooling sensation. It makes my hair soft and shiny without feeling heavy. The scent is also very uplifting and perfect for early mornings! I would not mind buying this one again sometime!

#130 Rituals Pure Hammam Volume & Shine Shampoo: This matches the conditioner both with the way it makes my hair feel smooth and shiny while still adding volume. This is a nice set I would not mind picking up again.

IMG_20181021_200938_580.jpg

#131 It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Serum: A cheap but nice K-Beauty serum that feels really hydrating and sinks into the skin quickly. Works nicely under face cream both for mornings and evenings. It comes in a nice glass bottle and both the experience of the serum and the looks of the bottle makes it feel much more expensive than the 11$ I had to pay for it. I could see myself picking this one up again.

#132 Bella Lucce Green Tea & Crushed Rice Body Scrub: This one makes me sad because the brand does not exist any more! They made really fantastic and luxurious body scrubs. If you can find this anywhere (I know they were retailed in many spa salons) it is absolutely worth picking up. I would for sure buy it again if it was available but sadly the brand is discontinued. I think I will have a hard time finding a brand that can replace the fantastic products from this line.

IMG_20181021_201003_531.jpg

#133 Colourpop No Filter Concealer: I am one of those people who really like this concealer. I am under the impression they are either hit or miss, but I was one of the lucky ones. I have to pick up a new one very soon because I find myself missing it already!

#134 Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara: This is a great one too! I don’t love it as much as L’Oreal Paradise Extatic, but it’s a really good drugstore mascara still. I would not mind picking this one up again either!

Turns out this time around I really enjoyed all my empties and could see myself picking up everything on a later occasion!

Did you finish anything fun lately?

Colourpop Mar Eyeshadow Palette – Makeup looks, Review & Swatches!

The Mar palette was a part of Colourpop’s summer collection and I as usual I had to buy it (What Colourpop palette won’t I buy??). I am so happy I did though, because this little bronze and blue palette is a gem!

Usually I do a separate makeup look post with a review following in a few days, but since this palette is so small I decided to combine the two posts. But keep your eyes up for the Sol palette review because that will be up shortly.

Since this is a blue and bronze palette I had to do one blue look featuring the absolutely stunning blue shades in the palette, and one bronze one. So here they are!

IMG_20180817_131501_299.jpg

  • Colourpop Mar Eyeshadow Palette – Detour, Gridlock, HWY.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black,
  • H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil – Into the blue.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Hippie Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro70, Bro30, Bro10.
  • H&M Brow Maker Duo – The brow gel side.
  • Revolution Conceal & Define – C4.
  • House Of Lashes – Featherette.

IMG_20180817_131529_990.jpg

  • Colourpop Mar Eyeshadow Palette – El Rey, Wild One, Boozy, Sorbet, Top Down, My Way.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black,
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Hippie Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30.
  • H&M Brow Maker Duo – The brow gel side.
  • Revolution Conceal & Define – C4.
  • House Of Lashes – Featherette.

IMG_20180824_153256_466.jpg

So, performance wise these shadows are excellent. There is not a single bad eyeshadow in this palette. In fact, when I was using it all I could think of was “How can something be this cheap and this GOOD!”. It’s like every time I try a new Colourpop palette I fall more in love with their formula. They just never disappoint. We are so lucky to have this good makeup for a cheap price, because that would have been unheard of 15 years ago when chalky and unpigmented was the drugstore standard (with a few exceptions off course). There is simply nothing negative to say about these eyeshadows, they are absolutely amazing to work with and pigmentation is incredible.

IMG_20180824_153423_454.jpg

Colourpop did mix things up a bit with this collection. For the first time we got an eyeshadow palette in a plastic packaging. It does also have a nice mirror which is surprisingly big considering this is a tiny palette. The eyeshadows are the same size as their standard 12- pan palettes, so since there are only nine shades the palette is pretty small and compact. I like it! I don’t really mind the plastic packaging, but I think I still prefer the cardboard ones. But I do really like the size with only 9 pans and find it to be very handy.

As already mentioned the eyeshadows hold a fantastic quality, and also swatch great. I think my very favorite shade must be “Grindlock”. I mean it is so pigmented and the blue base with blue shimmer is just so so gorgeous. Even though I have a lot of blue shades in my collection, this one actually stands out!

So overall, quality is great, and I would love to see more palettes in this size, but preferably in cardboard. But Colourpop, keep these gems coming!

Did you pick up the Sol or Mar palette? What are your thought?
