Trash Talk 2019 – Going Through My Beauty Empties #2

10 new items are empty and ready to be binned, but first I want to go through the whole bunch and share my experience with them and weather or not I will repurchase.

IMG_20190125_131245_345.jpg

So here are the bunch I will go through. As usual there is mainly skincare, shower essentials and hair care. that’s just what I tend to go through the quickest.

IMG_20190125_131306_126.jpg

#11 Natures Answer Essential Oil Shampoo Peppermint: This one is so refreshing and my hair and scalp feels very clean after using this. The peppermint scent is so refreshing and gives a light cooling sensation. My hair is clean and voluminous after I use this, and I have been reaching for this whenever I feel like my hair needs a bit more deep cleaning than usual. Would love to pick this one up again!

#12 LUSH Roots Hair Treatment: My go-to treatment whenever my scalp feels itchy or just in need of some TLC. I don’t think this does too much for my hair, but it really helps re-freshen my scalp, helps prevent itchiness and I also feels that my scalp is more moisturized without making my hair feel greasy at all. Would love to repurchase this one too!

#13 Avalon Organics Strengthening Peppermint Conditioner: I have been pairing this one up with Natures Answer Essential Oil Shampoo and they match each other well. The Avalon hair care products are vegan, biodegradable, contains no GMOs, aaand the bottle is made out of recycled materials. Obviously lots of good things going on with this brand. In addition to all this it’s affordable as well and I usually like their products. This is also something I would like to repurchase, or at least more from the brand because I really like their profile.

#14 Argan Oil Hydrating Hair Mask: This really is hydrating and it makes my hair feel so soft after use! I like the scent too even though I don’t know how to describe it. It smells like hair dresser if that makes any sense! I really liked this product, but I only got 4 uses out of the jar, so I would have loved to see it in a bigger jar (this one is just 220 ml). I would not mind buying it again though since it’s affordable and available. That means I can actually pick it up in store. All the other things in this photo I have to order online because they don’t exist in store where I live.

IMG_20190125_131438_207.jpg

#15 Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter “Apple Milk”: If you know me you know I love these and that they are my hole grail body butter. This is a mini size of “Apple Milk” which smells divine! I now have 3 full size jars of this.

#16 Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter “Pumpkin Queen”: This is a wonderful spicy pumpkin scent that is perfect for fall. I picked this sample up this fall to test out the scent, and if they re-release this scent next year I will pick up some full size jars (this is part of their annual collection that is released in fall. They have one for spring, summer, Christmas and valentines as well!). So yes, a repurchase for sure!

#17 Nivea Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover: This is awful. It barely removes just the lightest application of makeup. I will not repurchase this one again, and I would not recommend it. There are plenty of better options out there.

IMG_20190125_131407_937.jpg

#18 Origins Ginzing Refreshing Face Mask: This is actually my first item from my project pan 2019 that I empty! I have been using this as a morning mask during weekends if I got some extra time in the morning. It wakes up my skin and is indeed refreshing, but I don’t really think it does anything more than that. I prefer that masks are hydrating or cleansing, so I don’t think I will buy this again. Because although it feels nice ans refreshing it just does not do more than that.

#19 BOMB Cosmetics Strawberry Fields Body Polish: I have used an oil scrub from this brand that I loved, but this one is just not the same. The consistency of the product it really thick, but the sugar grains are really sparse. I had to use so much product each time and still I felt like it had barely no scrubbing effect. The scent was a bit too strawberry-artificial for me as well. Will not repurchase this.

#20 Wet N’Wild Lash Renegade Mascara: This was not a hit for me. It did not give much of either volume or length and the mascara wand was super weird. It just did not do anything for me and in addition it was clumsy to apply. Will not repurchase this.

I will also do a summary of how many products in each category I go through in one year. So together with the first trash talk post this year my current counting are as follows:

  • Shampoo/Conditioner: 4.
  • Shower gel/butter/foam etc: 1.
  • Body Lotion/Butter: 6.
  • Body Scrub: 1.
  • Face Mask: 1.
  • Hair Mask: 2.
  • Face Care (cream/toner/oil/essence/serum etc): 2.
  • Mascara: 1.
  • Makeup Remover/Cleansing Balm: 1
  • Powder: 1.

I will add more to the list as we go through more of my empties. I thought it would be interesting to see how much a  go through each category during a year. Maybe I will get some surprises!

Did you finish anything interesting lately?

Review: NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer!

When I ran out of my NARS Radiance Creamy Concealer my intention was to pick up a new one of them, but the temptation to try something new and fun got too strong and I clicked home the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer instead.

IMG_20180815_115950_231.jpg

This is a potted concealer, which I don’t have very many of. The design is simple and classic NARS with the soft rubber black matte cap with the logo printed on. Simple and classic, and also a very unisex look which I would consider a plus these days. The size of this is very handy though, because I can just dip the tip of my beauty sponge straight into the pot so I don’t have to fuzz around with a brush. Being a fan of blending out the concealer with a sponge that is a big plus for me so I don’t have to add that extra step of applying it with a brush, or (gosh no!) put my fingers in the pot.

IMG_20180815_120027_298.jpg

The first thing that impressed me was how creamy and nice the concealer felt. I was expecting it to be a bit more dense and dry in formula since it’s not a liquid in a tube, but this one applies very smooth and creamy. It blends quickly into the skin as well.

I really like the looks of it. It gives a sort of blurred out look to the under eye, and it gives a very good coverage while still looking quite natural on the skin. It has a matte finish but I dont think it looks dry or enhance texture or fine lines as I find to be the case with some other matte concealers I’ve tried.

I am actually really impressed by the blurring effect of this concealer because it really makes my under eyes look very smooth and perfected. It’s almost like it brightens, evens out and gives a “lift” in addition to cover up darkness.

IMG_20180815_115925_467.jpg

Since this concealer has great coverage I found that it also work really well to spot conceal. Since it’ in a pot I found it very handy to just use a tiny little brush and spot conceal on any place necessary an the good coverage makes a little go a long way so it does not look heavy on the skin.

It does not feel heavy either as the formula is very lightweight. If that was not good enough I didn’t see any issues with creasing either and the tiniest bit of setting powder is enough to seal the deal, which off course helps get a natural look.

I am a big fan and I can already say for sure that I will repurchase this one when I one day run out, which I expect to take a while as a little goes a long way. Just a solid great quality concealer!

Did you try this? I would love to hear you opinion in the comments!

Makeup and beauty hauls – September 2018!

One of my favorite posts to write. Showing you whats new to my collection and what you can expect seeing some reviews of in the future.

I have been picking up a few new bits and pieces but I think I managed to not go overboard, so I am quite happy!

These Hourglass powders I both ordered in August, but you know, international shipping knows how to take it’s time. But this travel size Hourglass Bronzer and the Hourglass Blush in “Ethereal Glow” finally arrived. I got mine from Cultbeauty. And do you know that they have travel size blushes there too? I think it’s such a great thing to be able to pick up a travel size of a blush for much cheaper. I never go through blushers anyway!

More stuff from Cultbeauty, and more mini’s! Again, being able to pick up a smaller size for much less money is so great! Here is Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop. I now finally have this iconic product.

The lashes are Huda Beauty lashes in Carmen #9. It took me a while to get use to Huda lashes due to their thick lash-band, but now that I am I really like them.

This palette I just stumbled over on Instagram. I’d never seen it or heard of the palette before, and since it was reasonably priced I decided to pick it up and give it a go. The GLF Cosmetics Princesa Azteca Palette really has both a large selection of neutrals and colors and I am a fan of the selection. Did not get the chance to play with it yet, but eventually I will have a makeup look post and a review post of this. Just be patient, I got a big pile of stuff to review and too little time!

I also needed some basics! The OGX Hair Butter sounded interesting and I always need something to give moisture to my ends. Never tried this, but I have tried some shampoo and conditioners from the brand and have been overall happy with them.

The Human+Kind Shower Mousse Bodywash “Grapefruit Delight” I picked up because it smells divine and I can always use a nice body wash.

I am slowly running out of cleansing balm, and since it takes a while to get here through mail (I usually use K-Beauty cleansers and they are not sold in store in my country) so I picked up the Nivea Eye Makeup Remover in case I run out before the next one arrive. It’s cheap, that’s mainly why I picked it.

IMG_20180918_102907_777.jpg

I did not stop picking up some essentials there. I also got e refill of the St.Moriz Fast Self Tanning Foam. I am running low on my other one. Not sure how long I will bother to try maintaining a tan. After all I love north of the wall and don’t really need to be tanned in winter.

The Simple Foaming Cleanser was something I picked up because I have just a few uses left of my current one. Never tried this, and it was so cheap my hopes are not all that high. But hey, if it’s good I did find a nice affordable cleanser so always worth a try!

XHC Revitalising Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner was also a necessary refill. I am running low on shampoo and conditioner so new ones are necessary. These smell like coconut, which I like if it’s a good coconut scent, but hate if it’s too sweet or synthetic. I will have to get back to you on how I feel about this.

KMS Add Volume Hairs Spray is a sample I decided to try. I don’t always get overly excited about hair styling so I love being able to try a sample before buying the real deal. I find it to be such a struggle to try to get through hair styling I don’t like.

The same goes for Tony&Guy Casual Sculpting Powder. I am hoping this will be something to help me if my hair is to flat or greasy. Sort of like a texturing dry shampoo.

IMG_20180923_185651_752.jpg

I was very much fond of the MorpheMe brush bundle this month. I really like Morphes Y-series, and I always need more eyeshadow brushes. One can never have too many blending brushes in my opinion.

IMG_20180923_185734_738.jpg

Finally, after a long time, my Makeup Revolution parcel arrived. I ordered this in June, but it was returned and they had to send it back. International shipping back and forth does take time, but finally the Soph x Revolution Extra Spice palette found its way home to me together with the lipsticks “Cake” and “Syrup”, two very pretty nudes!

IMG_20180923_185333_176.jpg

These three items were sent to me for free from Tambeauty. the reason was that when they tried to resend my order with the Soph x Revolution Extra Spice palette, one of the other items I ordered, a setting spray, was suddenly not legal to send due to new regulations. So they put some extra stuff in my package. The Palette is Obsessions Love Every Shade Eyeshadow Palette, and then I got a Obsessions Liquid Illuminator in the shade “S&X” which looks really pretty, and a Obsessions Lip Effects Gloss. Excited to try these things since the brand is new to me.

IMG_20181004_154832_437.jpg

And finally, no month is complete without a Colourpop purchase! I picked up the gorgeous fall palette Good Sport, and the Super Shock Highlighter Palette “Crush On You”. Colourpop always has something new and I really try to keep up at least with their eyeshadow palettes. Their are challenging me for sure, but I love collecting their eyeshadows. They are affordable and one of my favorite formulas. What’s not to love!

Did you pick up anything fun this month?

July 2018 Makeup Favorites…Yes, I am late to the party!

This has been the month of face products. I got so much new fun stuff and I have been testing a lot. I have been very lucky with my purchases lately because so so many of the items have been hits and I can’t wait to share them!

Two lip products really stood out to me this month, and I just kept reaching for these over and over again. Both of them are older items I’ve had for a while and I just decided to put them in my monthly makeup bag, and for the month of July these two were almost the only lippies I used at work. The Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss is so comfy and almost like a balm. It feels really hydrating, the color is super for everyday wear, and it smells good (but not intense). The Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Hepburn Honey is also really good. I do enjoy her lipstick formula. It easily wears for a couple of hours and feels very comfy on the lips. It is also so easy to reapply that I don’t even need a mirror. So really good if you need to to touch-ups on the go like I have to at work.

The eyeshadows are all from Looxie Beauty. The formula of these three are so rich, smooth, pigmented and metallic. Every time I used them I just kept getting surprised by how rich and buttery they are. And the shades are so gorgeous as well. These three shades are Amber, Bohemian and Bubbly. Highly recommend all these shades!

I guess we all tried that Physicians Formula butter bronzer, and so many of us love it, but I got curious about their Butter Blush in “Rosy Pink” and Butter Highlighter in “Pearl”. Well, I guess you know what I feel about then since they are here. The blush is not too pigmented and I have to build it up just a little bit, but the color is so nice and it last incredibly long on my skin! The highlighter is gorgeous too. And both of them smell like a tropical vacation.

The L’Oreal Life’s A Peach Blush in the shade “Peach Addict” is my first L’Oreal blush ever actually, but I heard good things about it and, well, I am weak. That’s a good thing though because this is a gorgeous product. Nice summery color, fool-proof easy to apply and you know, just a good blush!

Makeup Revolution highlighters have been a bit hit or miss for me. But this Revolution Pro Supreme Highlighter Trio in “Metal” is for sure a hit. Metallic intense glow all the way. No glitter, just an intense metallic sheen. I know they have this little palette in a few other shades and I want them all now! And yes, the price is unbeatable too!

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer “Vanilla” was also a big hit. It just looks flawless underneath the eyes and must be one of the better concealers I’ve tried in a long time.

IMG_20180715_145952_423.jpg

These guys must be the perfect pair for a gorgeous glow or what? They are, really!

The Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lightning Powder in “Brilliant Strobe Light” is my first Hourglass product ever actually. But, to put it one way I got a blush and a bronzer heading my way because this product is stunning and I want to know what else Hourglass can offer. This is like a glowy setting powder, or you can use it as a very subtle highlighter.

The Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is a weird one. It is kind of a primer or a highlighter in one. It blurs out the skin and gives such a gorgeous natural glow. I really recommend using this alone with just some concealer if you don’t really need much coverage. The blurring effect and the glow makes your skin look perfected and dewy and just flawless. If you do have redness or spots it won’t cover it a bit, but luckily it also works perfectly as a primer or as a base for powder highlighter.

IMG_20180808_093800_420.jpg

Lastly, the Colourpop No filter Setting Powder “Translucent” is my final favorite this month. Who does not like a cheap setting powder that works. The powder is very finely milled and works well for under the eyes as well as an all over setting powder. The jar is tiny and great for travel as well. Out of the no filter line this one is the product that worked best for me!

What is your favorites for this month? Do we have any favorites in common? Or maybe something that worked really well for me does not for you? Leave a comment and let us know!

By the way, I always love reading these favorites post so please don’t be shy and drop a link in the comment if you made a post yourself. I would love to read it!

The Douce By Juvia’s Place – 4 looks with 1 palette! (ready)

If you haven’t already picked up on it. Juvia’s Place palettes tends to get me pretty excited. I mean, I love colors, and Juvia’s Place make excellent palettes with plenty of colors that are not just your regular rainbow palette. These palettes are fun and so is the shade selection in The Douce. It gives me spring vibes so I did try to make some springy looks, and some not so much!

IMG_20180505_140633_458.jpg

  • Juvias Place The Douce Palette- Berry Mousse, Crepes, Chocolat, Macarons, Custard, Puffs.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Glow.
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Mystic.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro70, Bro60.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.
  • Eylure Volume Lashes – 101.

I was very much drawn to the metallic pastel green shade “Macaroons” so off course that was the first shade I wanted to so something with. This is a perfect spring color for me!

IMG_20180505_140653_640.jpg

  • Juvias Place The Douce Palette – Creme, Berry Mousse, Custard, Crepes, Chocolat, Tart.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Glow.
  • MakeupGeek Gel Liner – Mobster.
  • Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil – 405.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro 70, Bro90.

IMG_20180505_140718_882.jpg

  • Juvia’s Place The Douce Palette – Mont Blanc, Tart.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Shadow – Glow.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.
  • Eylure x Vegas Nay Fiercely Fabulous Lashes.
  • Zoeva Graphic Brow Fix.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro 60, Bro70, Bro30.

I had to do something different than just spring looks so I figured a bit of graphic liner would be fun. I haven’t done one of those in a while. I also wanted to see how “Tart” would look over a dark base. The purple duochrome shift really shows up. It is amazing that a shade can change this much. It looks like a very pale pink with a soft lavender duochrome in the pan. Over a dark base and it is BAM-Lilac! Soo cool!
