My Makeup Collection 2018 – Powders!

Powder to the people! Sorry, that is so cheesy. But I do like powders and don’t know how I would do without them in my everyday routine. I use a powder every single day to set my face, and a good powder can really lift a look to the next level.

Considering this is a product I use everyday I think my collection is fairly reasonable. However, I am trying not to pick up any more powders. I want to try to finish a few of the powders I know I won’t repurchase again when I run out in addition to the powder I have in my project pan. So when those items are gone I will be left only with powders I truly love. What a great feeling!

Anyway, lets start with the good part or what? The gems of my powder collection. The Guerlain Meteorites!

As you may be able to tell, I collect these. Every time Guerlain release a new powder that I fancy the packaging of I pick it up. These are more collection items, and besides the original that I can easily repurchase, I rarely use them. Still, they are highly treasured.

  • Guerlain Météorites Perlees Du Paradis (Limited Edition 2012).
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles De Légende (Limited Edition Holliday 2016).
  • Guerlain Météorites Gold Pearl (Limited Edition Holliday 2017).
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles D’Azur Emilio Pucci (Limited Edition Summer 2012).
  • Guerlain Météorites (Original) – 2 Clair.
  • Guerlain Météorites Perles Du Dragon (Limited Edition 2012).

I truly love these guys and will hopefully fancy one or two during this year to pick up. I already got my hopes up for the holiday collection since I usually really like them. Fingers crossed!

  • Skinfood Buckwheat Loose Powder – This is so incredible fine milled and looks great. In addition it is so cheap (unfortunately so is the packaging).
  • Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder – This looks soooo beautiful on the skin and is a big favorite in the dryer winter months. Will always repurchase this!
  • Lancôme Poudre Majeure Excellence – Good powder, but nothing exceptional. Want to finish this one and will not repurchase.
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (Light Plus) – This is a repurchase, and will continue to repurchase. Porcelain skin in a compact!
  • The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Powder – Great for those days when your forehead wants to steal the show and shine. This powder tones it down and let’s my highlighter take over the show instead. I will always pick up a new one of these. Plus, super cute packaging.

  • History of Whoo Jewel Powder – Good loose powder, but the container is just too big and clumpy and takes up too much space. Even though the powder itself is really nice I am working on this for my project pan and will not pick up a new one once I am done.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder – Does exactly what the name said it will, and is totally worth all the hype. I have less than half left and I am considering picking up a backup already. I will always always have this in my collection!
  • Dior Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup – Beautiful loose powder. I want to finish this since it is quite old, but I will pick up a new one for sure. So pretty!
  • Hope Girl Powder Compact – Fun packaging, but the product is a bit6 lackluster. It works fine enough but nothing I will repurchase. Hope to finish this one too!.
  • Kiko Matte Fusion Pressed Powder – This one is almost done, so I hope to finish it soon. It does not keep me matte at all despite its name. I usually really like Kiko face powders but this one was a miss. Does an OK job setting makeup, but does nothing for shine. Will finish it but not repurchase.

So overall, 5 powders I want to finish but only one of them will be a repurchase so my collection should decline with 4 powders before I pick up a new one (let’s just say limited edition Guerlain stuff is an exception). The total amount of powders are 17. I am actually quite proud of that.

I have my eyes on that Becca powder though, and think I will treat myself with it when I get through those 5 I want to finish, but for now I think I am good with powders.

And you? How is your collection? Do you prefer keeping just one or two that you use, or are you a collector who likes to try new things and have a collection to match? Let me know about your powder collection in the comments!

My latest empties!

Do we need to introduce these posts still? You know the drill I guess, here are my latest empties and some mini reviews for each of them:

Not so much variation in products this time I am afraid of. Mostly stuff for yous skin except a soap to make  you clean and a hair product to get your hair look decent.

You all know I love these. I go through them all the time, and they’ve been my holy grail body cream for many many years (6 now I believe now that I think about them. I purchased my first when I was halfway through my Masters Degree, and it is five years now since I delivered….wow, I am getting old). Let’s just go  through them as usual with me talking about the scent. You all now the product is delicious anyway!

#49 Haus Of Gloi – Samhain II: This one smells so much like soil in the fall. The scent description on the jar says “Freshly turned earth, wet leaves, and a cool spectre ridden wind. The scent is very unique and unisex. I like it, but I have quite a few others I like more. I would not mind picking this up again though if it is released in a future release (It is not in their general catalogue).

#50 Haus of Gloi – Mood Dog: A more sweet and heavy scent. But being my third jar I obviously like it and will for sure repurchase. It smells like Cracked coconut, sandalwood, nutmeg and clove. Sweet, warm scent that lacks the artificial feel coconut scents often get, and I love that!

#51 Haus of Gloi – Apothecary: My second jar of this scent. This is so herbal, citrusy and fresh. The jar descriptions says “Old books, bubbling concoctions, herbs and creaking floor boards! A pure essential oil blend of: Lemongrass, rosemary, atlas cedarwood, sweet basil, lavender and the tiniest drop of vetiver.” Doesn’t that sound delicious?

#52 Mizon Peptide Ampoule Cream: Gives a decent amount of moisture but I was a bit indifferent about this to be honest. It was neither good or bad, but did the job with moisturizing my skin. Won’t repurchase though since I would rather try something else.

#53 L’Oreal Pure Clay Purifying Cleansing Gel: I think I may have been the wrong user for this. I don’t really suffer from impurities in the skin so it was hard for me to really tell if it did any difference. It did a good job with cleansing my skin without stripping it for moisture though. I may repurchase it because it work as a cleanser, but I will try out some other stuff first.

#54 Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force Lightweight Smoothing Lotion Spray: Another holy grail product. I always had one of these since I picked up my first one three years ago. I now use it every single day and I love how smooth and healthy it makes my hair look. My hair very quickly turns into a big ball of frizz if I don’t give it enough moisture, but this keeps my hair so soft without weighing it down. Love this, and I already have a new one opened in addition to a backup!

#55 LUSH Slammer Shower Gel: Even though I do find the LUSH shower gels to be a tad bit drying (it does not matter much because I ALWAYS moisturize after a shower, which you can probably tell by my amount of pumpkin butter empties) I do like them. This scent is so fresh ans zesty and perfect for after a exercise run in early  mornings. The scent is not available anymore, but I will pick it up if LUSH decide to re-release it again.

I now reached over 50 empties and I am excited to see if I manage to reach 200 by the end of the year (that’s what the counting stands for if you wondered). It may be a bit hard to reach 200 since I don’t count samples or one-time-use things like sheet masks. I also avoid essentials like toothpaste because it is so boring. Time will show I guess.

Did you empty something fun lately?

Trashbin donations – Also known as my latest beauty empties!

Time for another empties post with mini reviews of the beauty and makeup items I’ve been finishing lately. I always feel I am a bit behind on these posts, and as soon as I finish one I got a new pile ready for the next round. Am I the only one?

This month I got both good, bad and so-so products. And a bit of every category.

#42 Argan Oil of Morocco Hair Treatment Oil – Since I have curly hair I need some hair oil in my life. I got this one over two years ago, and only finished it now. Mainly because I tend to reach for my Haus of Gloi hair oils over this one. This seems like a good enough oil. It does the job, but I just prefer the Haus Of Gloi ones. Therefore I will not repurchase.

#43 Maybelline Master Drama Khôl Pencil “Ultra Black” – If you ever read the list I makeu under each makeup look on this blog you must have seen this mentioned over and over again. This is the creamies, darkest kajal I’ve ever seen and it is perfect for smoky looks. I already started using a new one and don’t see myself stopping any time soon. Fantastic pencil for dark smoky looks!

#44 Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil “Zero” – I used to really enjoy this and I have been throught 5 or 6 of them throughout the years, but after I got to know about the Maybelline one this one seems more grey than black. I won’t repurchase simply because I found something better.

#45 LUSH H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment – The hair mask with the impossible to pronounce name and funky scent of sweet spice. This is my second jar, and I love how nourished and healty my hair looks after use. I will for sure repurchase this!

#46 Batiste Dry Shampoo Divine Dark – I enjoy Batiste dry shampoos because they work and are cheap. This one is among my favorites because it is intended for dark hair so it does not leave a white cast as the others do. Another one I will repurchase for sure. I always have a Batiste in my bathroom.

#47 The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Sugar Body Scrub – This smells divine but that about it. I have tried many products from The Body Shop but unfortunately it is not a brand I tend to be very lucky with. This one did not work for me because it does not really work as a scrub in my opinion. It is so little grains that I have to use loads of the product to feel any effect. I got 4 uses out of this whole jar, and to be honest it was more of a greasy mess than a scrub. I did smell fruity-licious though! Will not repurchase (fortunately their Mango Shower Gel smells just as good).

#48 Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil Balm – Nice balm that gets the job done and melts off the makeup. It smells like sour apple candy. I like it, it works well, but I do think I have a few others I prefer. I may or may not repurchase. I don’t know. But if you like that artifical apple candy scent than maybe you would enjoy this? Because the balm works, no doubt about that.

I would love to know if you tried any of these, and your thought on them. It is always fun to hear other peoples experiences. We are all different after all!

Throwback Thursday Makeup Look – MAC A Tartan Tale: 6 Twist of Tartan!

I went all the way back to a limited edition release from MAC in 2010 to create this look.

This 6 Twist of Tartan eyeshadow palette from MAC A Tartan Tale collection has been used….once. That is a shame, but to be honest I felt that the colors were not that cohesive and did not work that well together so I found it hard to actually create a full look with it.

But I guess the whole point with this Throwback Thursday themed makeup looks are to dig out old palettes that you for one reason or the other don’t use. With this palette the reason for not using it was mainly because I felt like I could not put together many looks with this palette alone. So I did that, I made a makeuplook using only this palette, and with every single shade. And this is what it looked like:

  • MAC 6 Twists of Tartan – Lady’s Prance, Rolled Gold, High Spirits, Vainglorious, Set To Dance, Bows & Curtseys.
  • Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro10, Bro50.
  • Eylure Definition Lashes 121.

It kind of turns out that the colors of the palette was quite cohesive after all, I just did not have the skilled eyes to see it. They do fit quite nicely together in a look. I don’t know if I even ever used navy, red and green together in a look but I actually think it works. Kind of feels like I learned a new color combination that I don’t think I would have chosen to put together myself.

Now that I used it a bit I feel like there are some nice combinations here I have completely missed out on before. Those greens would be a nice smoky green look, and the navy and gold could be a nice halo eye. I think I will have to pull this out again sometime soon, because now I want to see more of that it can do. Throwback Thursday for the win here! This is exactly what I want, to get some inspiration to get some use out of my older stuff.

March 2018 Favorite Makeup and Beauty Products!

I see one disadvantage of having a project pan; It is really hard to get new favorites. I mean, I really like the products I am panning, but since I am working on panning them I don’t necessarily use them because they are my very favorites at the moment, but for the sole reason of hitting that pan. So my favorites for March are not that many, also because I don’t have time to use that much else since I am focusing on my pan projects lately. But some goodies I still managed to really enjoy this month!

Colourpop Dream St. Eyeshadow Palette: I knew this would be a favorite almost before I got it in the mail. I mean, I knew approximately what to expect regarding quality, and I really like both the shade selection and the aesthetics of the palette. I was not wrong. I played around a lot with this and created a bunch of makeup looks with it (they will be released here soon). I won’t say too much in detail since I will have a review of it soon and I don’t want to spoil all the details, but being one of my favorite things in March I am sure you guessed the review will be good!

This month I also had my first encounter with Wet N’ Wild. If you can believe that! This brand does not exist in store where I live, so I always had to order it online. I just never got around too it, but now I finally picked up some products I’ve hear people rave about, and I guess you already got that I quite enjoy some of them.

The Wet N’ Wild Photofocus Foundation was a hit for me. Medium coverage with what I would call a natural finish. Not too matte and not too dewy. The longevity was also quite good for being a drugstore product, and it did in the end face away gracefully and did not appear cakey or pathcy at any given time.

The Wet N’ Wild Megaglo Contouring Palette in “Dulce de Leche” was also a pleasant new friendship. I really like both the brightening powder and contouring powder. A bit loosely pressed, so there is quite a bit of kickback in the pan, but I found it so easy to apply and blend that I don’t care. My go-to for the last couple of weeks.

I have many highlighter favorites this month. Maybe not that strange because this is a product category I did not add to my project pan, giving me the opportunity to play around with new stuff and old treasures alike. I really like the Colourpop In-Nude-Endo Highlighter Palette. The shades are intense and metallic, without the glitter. It gives a high-shine wet look to the face, and the color selection is really nice. I like this a lot better than their first highlighter palette “Gimme More” which is not bad either, but this one is next level fur sure.

The Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara (in black naturally)  has also been a true go-to. I don’t like it as much as the L’Oreal Parasdise Extatic, but it’s not that far behind either. A very good drugstore mascara overall.

It’s been a hot minute since my last Sigma Beauty encounter, but I was intrigued by the shades in this Sigma Beauty Chroma Glow Shimmer and Highlighter Palette. Just a bunch of multi-tasking shades (meaning they can be blushtoppers and highlighters alike as well as being pigmented enough to be used on the eyes). My very favorites have been Peaceful and Felicity. Maybe in particular Felicity because it gives a wonderful cool-toned pink glow that I have nothing else alike in my collection. I do enjoy the palette overall simply for the diversity of shades.

Finally, when the day is over and it all need to come off, this has been a valued friend. I just take a small scoop and massage it all over my face and the makeup melts away like butter. A simple was with a nice cleanser is then all I need for a fresh face with no traces of makeup. Another K-Beauty hit!

What are your favorites this month? Do we share some maybe?

Hope you are having a wonderful Easter Vacation if you celebrate Easter.

My Makeup Collection 2018 – Liquid Lipsticks!

Lip products were a category that together with eyeshadows are big enough for me to divide it into different categories. So my lip product collection will be in three parts. The first one being liquid lipsticks, and then my lipglosses will be in a separate post, and finally my regular lipsticks together with stains and chubby stick will be the final lip product post.

Starting out with my KissMe lipsticks from my monthly liquid Lipstick Subscription. I started that subscription in October 2017, and this is what I have collected so far:

Among these guys you can spot my favorite liquid lipstick that does not dry down, which is the Guerlain one. I really need to pick up more shades of that one. I also love and need more of the Dior Liquid Lipstick, and I want to try more Dose Of Color and Huda Beauty too. I would not mind collecting more MAC or Nabla either. In other words, the picture of stuff I want more of!

  • Guerlain Intense Liquid Matte – M06 Charmin Beige.
  • Guerlain Intense Liquid Matte- M65 Tempting Rose.
  • Dose Of Colors – Berry Me 2.
  • Huda Beauty Liquid Matte – Bikini Babe.
  • Dior Rouge Dior Liquid – 999 Matte.
  • Nabla Liquid Lipstick – Roses.
  • Nabla Liquid Lipstick – Vanilla Queen.
  • MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor – So Me.
  • MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor – Cafè Au Chic.

My small but cute liquid suede collection. I want more nudes from this line!

  • NYX Cosmicmetals Lip Cream – Solar Energy.
  • NYX Liquid Suede – Tea & Cookies.
  • NYX Liquid Suede – Soft-Spoken.
  • NYX Liquid Suede – Kitten Heels.

Finally, my Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks. I have some different formulas here. Metallics, satin, blotted and mattes. I prefer satin and blotted. What I really don’t like is that the writing and details dissappear so quickly on the tubes. I hate that they look cheap and old after just 2-3 days in a pocket. Colourpop should really do something about that! Anyway, here is the list of names, from left to right as usual:

  • Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lips – Kween
  • Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lips – Zebra.
  • Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lips – Man Eater.
  • Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lips – Treat Wave.
  • Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lips – Mug Shot.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Rêver.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Dreamy.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Bijou.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Bare Necessities.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Point Zero.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – MRS.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – November.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – 951.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Likely.
  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – Darling.
  • Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip – Slide.
  • Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip – Doozy.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Aquarius 2.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Arriba!
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip –  Mamacita.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Arabesque.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Star Crossed.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – The Twirl.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Tulle.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Trouble Maker.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Chi.
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Midi.

The crazy thing is that I was a bit late to hop on to that liquid lipstick trend and all of these have been collected the last 1.5 year. I tried a Soft Matte from NYX many many years ago (which is long gone now) and I didn’t become the biggest fan of it. I though therefor for a long time that liquid lipsticks were not for me, but the trend exploded and so many formulas popped up. So decided to revisit the liquid lipsticks around 1,5 year ago, and all of these have been collected since. I guess I don’t need to even say that liquid lipsticks work for me now?

I still have yet to try the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream that I did not really like all that much many years ago. It would be interesting to see how much my preferences have changed since I tried it the first time.

Do we have any products in common, or are there some essensial products I totally missed out on but should try? Let me know in the comment!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ❤

Zoeva Matte Spectrum Palette – Swatches & Review!

The Zoeva Matte Spectrum palette is an interesting one. It stands out compared to the other Zoeva spectrum palettes which has mainly neutral and brown shades. This one is a fun rainbow palette with all matte shades.

If you like to play with color I think a good all-matte palette with bright colors are essential, and there are a few ones out there to pick from. I bet most people have already seen the NYX Ultimate Brights which has a lot of matte brights (but, it’s by no means an all-matte palette), or the Certifeye Tropical Wonders palette (that I really recommend you take a look at here). This one is a bit in the background, but for all color-lovers I would say this is a must-have!

This one stands out a bit, because even though the colors are bright and fun, they are somehow muted. So even though they are colorful, I don’t think you would have any problems creating perfectly nice daytime and work-appropriate looks with this! Just pair it with a palette with your basics, and there is a ton of thing to do with this palette even for more neutral looks. A unique quality for a palette without a single brown shade!

And when you feel like it, you can go all in….Peacock-style!

The layout of the palette is beautiful, and just a pleasure to look at. The packaging is black, sleek and easy to store or travel with. The inside is easy to keep clean if needed. So packaging-wise this is good, simple and classic without looking cheap. Just a nice, clean, simple design.

I wish the shades had proper names though. Zoeva usually give the eyeshadows in the 10 pan palettes proper names but these are just letters and numbers….boring!

Oh, well. They are just names and the shadows perform nicely. Pigmentation is medium but buildable. They apply nicely without being patchy, and even the blue shades are easy to blend. They are a tad on the dry side, without it messing up with the performance. They remind me slightly of the formula in The Balm Meet Matt(e) palettes, just a bit better.

Since Zoeva is quite affordable this palette is a steal. If you don’t fancy this exact shade range Zoeva has a large number of palettes to choose from. You will definitely find something for every taste in their collection. This brand was featured in my Top 3 Affordable Brands of 2017 so I apologize for my shameless bragging, but this is after all one of my favorite brands, mainly because of their eyeshadow palettes and fantastic brushes!

Do you have a Zoeva favorite? I would love to know!
