Throwback Thursday Makeup Look – NARS Ride Up To The Moon!

I have no idea how far back this little limited edition palette from NARS goes, but I had it for many years at least! I bought it many years back when I was obsessed with their blushes (which I still love) and I collected quite a few of them.

IMG_20180707_163846_780.jpg

This is unfortunately the only eyeshadows I’ve ever gotten, but when I used it just now I realized how nice quality they hold, even these that are so many years old. Super easy to blend and apply.

IMG_20180707_163822_958.jpg

I did a simple cut crease with this and used all the six shades.

IMG_20180707_174531_518.jpg

  • NARS Ride Up To The Moon Eyeshadow Palette – All Shades.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24 H – Black
  • H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil – Goldie Luxe.
  • Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara.
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – Medium Brown.
  • Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30, Bro40.
  • Colourpop No Filter Concealer – Light Neutral.
  • House Of Lashes  – Iconic Light.’

The palette is so cohesive and all the shades go so nicely together you can really just make several looks without even thinking about it.

Off course, after using this I am so tempted to get more NARS shades. I am very happy with they way they apply and blend. Everything was just so easy. Not the strongest pigmentation on them, but that may very well be the reason for why they are so easy to work with. Big thumbs up for NARS over here!

Have you tried any NARS shadows, if so what are your thoughts no them?

Rituals Body Scrubs Review!

Want to know about some delicious body scrubs that smells nice, does a wonderful job and does not break the bank? Then Rituals got you covered!

I have been using these body scrubs on a regular basis for around 3 years now and I figured it was about time I wrote a little something about them. It is always fun to share with you a review of products I use and love.

IMG_20180630_223131_676.jpg

Packaging is really nice and looks luxurious. The jars are pretty big and feels nice and heavy (not strange considered they are filled with oil and sugar). The jar is plastic ,and so is the lid but the metallic finish of it and the nice design of the jar makes it feel and look expensive even though it is plastic.

The price range is just in the middle I would say. 29$ is certainly not the cheapest scrub around, but for 375 g of product in a nice jar I think it is still pretty reasonable, especially considering they work pretty great.

IMG_20180630_223155_119.jpg

As you can telll, these are not new products, The Himalayan Sea Salt body scrub is almost out. It is so refreshing to use after a heavy exercise or a nice sauna.

I got three different scents here. The Himalaya Scrub is sugar grains in an oily base with a nice calming scent of roses. I love this as a winter scrub because the calming scent is very fitting when it is cold and dark outside.

The Himalaya Sea Salt Scrub smells like eucalyptus and is a proper pick-me-up. Nice to cool down with on warm days. The scrub is made of salt instead of sugar. It is slightly more grainy than the sugar based scrubs.

The Happy Buddah has the most wonderful sweet orange scent. It is quite intense but it is the kind of scent that makes you happy to sniff. I sometimes just open the jar to smell it to be honest! Scent-wise this is the big winner for me, and it makes me crave orange!

IMG_20180630_223534_460.jpg

Since they are salt and sugar in a nice oil base it means that they are super moisturizing. I can use these and not put on body lotion after a shower and the skin still feels soft and hydrated. The amount of scrubbing grains is also very generous and it gives you a real rub down compare to other similar prices scrubs (The Body Shop I am looking at you displeased).

So if you are into those oil based sugar and salt scrubs I would highly recommend the ones from Rituals. These are staples in my bathroom and I always keep a few of them at hand. Good stuff!

Let’s talk empties!

I never seem to get my pile of empties under control. There is always a whole bunch of products laying ready to be talked about. Am I the only one with this problem. I feel like I go through products so fast! I guess it is my extensive routines that make products go fast.

IMG_20180611_210715_586-1.jpg

This time around I got some skincare ad bath products to share. Do you spot any favorites?

IMG_20180611_210742_513-1.jpg

#70 Rituals Sakura Spring Shower Oil: I am a big fan of Rituals shower oils. I got two more standing in my shower. This really is a product I want to keep using, but as for now I will stick to the scents I already have in my bathroom. This is a really good product though and I like everything from the handy pump bottle, to how hydrating and soft it is on my skin as well as how nice the bottle looks. Thumbs up for this!

#71 Yves Rocher Coconut Sensual Bath & Shower Gel: These shower gels are nice, cheap and comes in a variety of different scents. I have kind of a strange relationship to coconut scents, because in my mind I love coconut, but in real life I often find them to be way to synthetic and I get tired of them very quick. I still keep on buying stuff with coconut scent though. This one is quite good for being coconut. Not overly sweet or synthetic, but I did get a bit tired of it after a while. Since I do like this I may repurchase, but a small size like this is more than enough for me. The shower gel itself is very good and gives a nice foam.

IMG_20180611_210805_168-1.jpg

#72 Bella Lucce Norwegian Oceanic Salt Rub: Bella Lucce has been one of my favorite bath and skincare brands for a very long time. Their body scrubs are amazing with lovely scents, rich oils and a lot of scrubbing grains. This one with Norwegian sea salt is very refreshing and just feels healthy on the skin. Unfortunately the brand recently closed down. So these products will soon be unavailable. I will with a heavy heart phase out the Bella Lucce products from my bathroom shelves. I hope i will find a similar brand to like equally much in the future. If you can find a product from this brand (they sell them in selected SPA’s) then I highly recommend them, just know they won’t be around much longer. And I was here planning my next big order of lovely skincare. Such a bummer!

#73 Heimish All Clean Balm: On a brighter note, this is an excellent cleansing balm and I already have a new one ready to go. It melts on the skin to a nice oil that removes any makeup easy as anything. Packaging is pretty too!

IMG_20180611_210853_607-1.jpg

#74 It’s Skin Pure Moisture Snow Blossom Essence: A moisturizing essence in a classy expensive looking bottle (Biotherm vibes) for a very reasonable price (Hurray for Korean skincare!). It does give moisture I think, the scent is pleasant but not overpowering and it looks nice in the bathroom. I would not mind buying this again, but I didn’t really feel like it made wonders for me. Good product I guess, but I will try some others. I may return to this one though. I just may want to look into something that gives a bit more than just moisture (my aging skin needs all the help it can get after all).

#75 It’s Skin Hyaluronic Acud Moisture Eye Cream: Very comfy eye cream that glides on and sinks in nicely. I can apply this just before makeup without any issues. I don’t think I will buy this again, because even though moisture is  the most important thing (together with avoiding sun) to prevent skin aging, I want something with more active ingredients. I think this is perfect for people in their early 20’s who would like a nice moisturizing cream, but I am a decade ahead of those people and would prefer a cream more suited for older skin. It is a nice eye cream for a fair price though!

IMG_20180611_210832_190.jpg

#76 Haus of Gloi – Cozy Sweater: Off course you know I love these! They are so so amazing little pots of rich body cream with a large selection of absolutely divine scents. I have my bathroom full of a nice selection of them. They truly are addictive! This scent is one of my favorites especially in winter and fall! It smells like mush, faded perfume, Egyptian amber, incense and vanilla. The most cozy scent ever perfect to match with a fireplace and a nice cup of tea. I am out of this scent right now, but I think I picked it up on my latest order arriving soon.

Did you finish anything fun lately?

What is in my makeup bag – July 2018!

June has been awfully considering weather (pretty good otherwise though). Here where I live we even broke an old precipitation record for June from all the way back in the 60’s. In other words. Things have been pretty grey and wet and I am not sure I remember what the sun looks like.

My sunscreen is ready though and I am hoping for sunny days and packed my makeup bag accordingly.

So lets take a look at the stuff I will be using!

  • History of Woo Jewel Powder: Once again this is in my monthly makeup bag because I am trying to pan it. A good light weight powder though, so it works well for summer too.
  • Bergamo Magic Snail B. B Cream: Also a project pan, but I have become such a fan of it that I am happy to continue using it. It gives medium dewy coverage which I like during summer. I can’t stand a full coverage foundation on a warm day. It is just too much for me.
  • Estée Lauder Stay-In-Place Double Wear Flawless Concealer: Old favorite that I recently repurchased and I am so happy I did. Great product!
  • Isadora Strobing Fluid Highlighter: I use this as a glowy base under my foundation and it gives my skin a very healthy look. I don’t really see myself using it as a highlighter on it’s own though. For that it is way too subtile for me (and I do appreciate a very natural glow from time to time). But it is good as a glowing base.
  • Holika Holika Petit BB Cream Aqua: nice light weight, hydrating BB Cream. Not the most long lasting but good for a natural base.
  • Artium All Day Lasting Primer: I put this in my bag because ut has SPF 44 and I expect the sun to be back in July. It has to be!

  • Revolution Pro Supreme Highlighter PRO: I tried this highlighter palette just a little bit and I am so impressed with it. These give a intense metallic glow without the glitter. So I wanted to enjoy them on a daily basis for a while.
  • Too Faced Chocolate Soilei Bronzer: My project pan bronzer. But it is a nice shade for me especially when I am a bit tanned. So until those sunny days arrive I can just fake it.
  • Glo Minerals GloBlush “Papaya” : I had this in my daily makeup bag since February, and I can barely see any usage. The project pan blush that will never end. Hope I can get a bit more heavy handed with this in summer (as always I am hoping for that tan… A hope that never dies despite everything).
  • YSL Créme De Blush- 2: Why was this limited edition? I managed to pick up two shades before they disappeared, but if they had 100 shades I would by them all. My all time favorite cream blush, and I looove myself some cream blush in summer!
  • Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter “Lunch Money” : As you can tell, I do like it. It is perfect as a more subtle highlighter on sunny days. I am one of those who want a more natural highlighter if I am out in sunlight and prefer those more intense ones for winter, fall and to brighten up a full and grey day. Lunch Money is a perfect sunny summer shade.
  • Lancôme Volume-a-Porter Mascara: I had this for a while so I think this is done when July is over. It gives a natural look but still with some length and volume. Really nice mascara if you don’t want the most dramatic finish.

And finally, I put down those project pan lippies for a while and I am going to enjoy some of my other pretty shades!

  • Colourpop Lux Lipstick “Ghosted”:  The darkest one of my selection. Still this looks pretty neutral on me since it is quite close to my natural lip-color.
  • Revolution Pro Supreme Matte Lip Pigment “Semblance”: I am in the process of testing these out and so far so good! This is a really nice nude.
  • Isadora Jelly Kiss Lipstick “Bare Bliss” : Very easy and comfy lipstick to wear. Comfy as a balm and nice for hot summer days.
  • Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick “Hepburn Honey”: Another lovely nude.
  • Kiko Lipstick: This is old and I think not longer a part of the Kiko Lipstick range so I don’t really know the name of it (and it does not say on the tube) but it is a nice creamy lipstick in  a nude shade.
  • Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss – 08: Since it is summer I had to add a gloss as well. Somedays lipsticks are just too heavy for me and all I want is a nice and easy to wear gloss.

IMG_20180630_234152_901.jpg

And I love a nice selection of eyeshadows to play around with like this one!

  • Colourpop “Yes, Please” Eyeshadow Palette: I think I can possibly hit pan on one shade this month. As you may know this is one of my project pan palettes, but it is perfect for summer so I am happy to have it in my makeup bag for another month.
  • Da Vinci Cosmetics Loose Eyeshadow ” Champagne”: I got this in a subscription box many years ago and I never really used it, so I will give it a go. Never really heard about this brand but it is crazy expensive! (Looks cheap though…..not the best combo in my opinion).
  • Looxie Beauty Eyeshadows: I have a mix of Looxie and Colourpop in the 9-pan Z-Palette but the Looxie shades are (from left to right, top to bottom): Platinum Pink, Bubbly, Root Beer, Bohemian and Amber.
  • Colourpop Pressed Powder Single Shadows: Kill Switch, Comeback Kid, Rascal and Night Show. All of these are a part of the festival collection they released in April.

As always I am excited to start fresh with a new fresh makeup bag. I find it really motivating and fun to being able to focus on a smaller selection of new and old products I like to show some proper attention. Now I feel ready for summer and sunny days!

Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation – A selfie lovers best friend?

I picked up some Wet N Wild products for the first time a few months ago. Even though I’ve heard a lot from the brand for many many years I never tried anything from them. Mainly because it is quite hard to get your hands on where I love (forced to order online and with international shipping). The other reason was that I was a snob and mainly wanted to buy only expensive brands for some years. I do still love my high-end and luxury makeup brands, but I collected so many pleasant drugstore products over the year that I have become more and more open to what cheap brands can offer. And to be frank, a lot of them can offer kick-ass products completely on par with luxury quality.

IMG_20180425_101854_340.jpg

So I decided to finally dive in to the Wet N Wild makeup selection, and picked up four products for me to test, review and get to know the brand. One of them where the foundation that is supposed to be perfect for photographs and give an Instagram worthy finish to your skin.

So let’s review this baby! First things first: Packaging. It is a simple glass bottle with some simple black text and design. The cap is black plastic with a spatula like applicator. There is no denying that this packaging looks cheap. No one will think you care about luxury and design when you pull this out of your makeup bag. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad or ugly, it just looks like you did pay mainly for the product inside and not so much for the bottle. That’s fine, we don’t all care about appearance anyway. The spatula I am not a big fan of though. I find it a bit unhygienic, and I don’t like dabbing it around my face and then put it back in the bottle. I partly solved the issue by just scraping the product of on my beauty sponge, but it is still a bit annoying.

Also, it smells. Or more correctly: It stinks! The fragrance is very paint like and unpleasant. It disappears quickly, but it does not add any luxury feel to the product.

IMG_20180425_101940_961.jpg

The most important thing though, is how it performs. The foundation is quite liquid, and that makes it very easy to distribute on the face, and it is very easy to apply. I found that I could work it quite quickly into the skin, which I like, but it does need to be set with a powder.

The coverage is light to medium. I really like this kind of coverage for summer and spring because I prefer my skin to look as natural as possible, especially when I am out in sunlight. So I really like the coverage it gives. It is supposedly a matte finish, but I kind of think it looks more satin on me.

This foundation is supposed to stand out from other foundations in the sense that is has a  light-adjusting formula that is supposed to give a filter like perfection in any light condition without reflecting a white cast in photos. I don’t know about that light-adjusting thing, but it is free from flashback at least, and it does give a nice finish to the skin.

IMG_20180425_101912_911.jpg

It feels very light-weight. Like it is not really there. And again that is a quality I like in a summer or springtime foundation. The wear time is not that bad either. After 6 hours it still looks decent. If I take a very close look I can see it starts to disappear in certain areas, but not bad at all. After 8 hours it has started to fade, but it does fade with grace. It realize it is time to go and simply fades, compared to some foundations that just wont give up and clings un-charmingly to the patches they can find. I like a graciously fading foundation.

As a few finishing bonuses it is super cheap, vegan and cruelty-free. I don’t strictly stick to cruelty-free makeup, but I for sure find it to be a bonus and something worth appreciating and mentioning in a review.

So, I guess I get the hype! A light-to-medium, satin finish (it claims to be matte but not on me), natural, fairly long-wearing, no-flashback foundation. It makes my skin look good, and if I were into selfies I could definitely take one wearing this.

Did you try this? What are your thoughts?

What is in my makeup bag – June 2018 edition!

May way fun. We have a lot of official hollidays here in Norway in may so I had very few full work weeks all month. I actually didn’t have any full work weeks. But now we are back in June and both work and personal life is more busy than ever. So, my makeup bag needed some new content!

IMG_20180602_213450_684.jpg

This month I decided to put away every palette from my project pan and give some of my old small palettes and singles some time to shine. All of these shadows are more than two years actually, maybe except from that Kiko cream shadow, but even that one is close I think. So this month I will give some love to some old and forgotten things, and I am excited to get started with it.

IMG_20180602_213544_988.jpg

  • MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow – Snow Season.
  • Tarina Tarantino Jewel Eyeshadow Palette “Wonderful” – I recently used this in a Throwback Thursday Makeup Look a couple of weeks ago, and realized how much I like this palette and that I want to use it more. So in June I will!
  • Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshdow Palette 646 “Montaigne” mini – Because it is super small and has some nice basic shades that will be nice to use with the rest.
  • L’Oreal Color Riche “Macaron Vanille – Nice base shade.
  • Nilens Jord Eyeshadow 635 – Nice Danish brand with good quality products. This nice bronzy brown is a great shade all over the lid.
  • Nilens Jord Eyeshadow 623 – Also a very nice lid or inner corner shade.
  • Mac Paint Pot “Rubenesque” – Will be nice as a base for many of the shades in the Clinique palette or just on its own.
  • Kiko Metallic Shine Eyeshadow – Beautiful taupe grey cream shadow with shimmer. A nice lid shade for a cool-toned look.
  • Clinique Eyes To Go Colour Surge Eye Shadow Palette – A bunch of soft shades perfect for spring and early summer.

IMG_20180602_213612_513.jpg

Not too much gas chanced in the face product department because I can’t put down these products if I want to pan them, particularly the blush. But I did add some new fun stuff as well to mix things up!

  • History of Woo Jewel Powder – My project pan powder. Huge and never ending, but it is a nice good quality powder at least.
  • Bergamo Magic Snail B.B Cream – Also from my project pan. I don’t think there is too much left so a fair chance of finishing this in June. I do think I will pick up a new one when I am done.
  • Holika Holika Moisturizing Petit BB Cream – A tiny bit lighter than the Bergamo one, but it will work as a backup if I run out of the other one.
  • Aritaum All Day Lasting Primer – This is a transfer from last month. Not a product I want to pan, but I really like this as a primer in summer because of it’s high value of SPF.
  • GloMinerals Globlush “Papaya” – Transfer from last month and every other month since January. Never ending project pan blush. I maaaay start seeing some wear on this. Not close to a dent but at least it looks like it’s been used.
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush “Majesty” – Really nice matte peachy blush.
  • The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome – Got this a while and tried it two times. I did not really like it all that much, but I am giving it a new chance since I usually like cream products in summer. Maybe this will work better for me now.
  • Too Faced Chocolate Solil Matte Bronzing Powder – Project pan bronzer. Transfer from last month. This is a good shade for me in summer so I will hopefully do some good damage. As you can tell from the packaging it is really old (the new packaging is so much prettier).
  • MAC Mineralize Blush “Fresh Honey” – This is so pretty. Old favorite of mine. MACs mineralize blushes gives such a nice finish to the cheeks!

Finally I am doing something I havent done in a long time. Added some fun lip colors! I have been focusing so much on my four project pan lippies but now that I finished two and are very close to finish the third I decided to add some more fun stuff to the mix this month. My forth project pan lippie is not a good color for me when I am tan anyway so I have to give it a break until my tan wears of in the fall. Until then: Playtime!

IMG_20180602_213641_981.jpg

  • L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll Mascara – Giving this mascara it’s final month as my everyday mascara. Then it is time for it to hit the bin, because it is betting old.
  • ELF Brow Pencil – My usual everyday brow pencil is running out this month (I think) so this one is ready to take over the job.
  • Anastasia Glow Kit “Sun Dipped” – It must me well over a year since this one was used the last time, so time to give a good old glow kit some time to shine. What’s good about this is that is has shade to match my expected gradual June tan.
  • Colourpop Lux Lipstick “Quickie” – Nice everyday nude in a regular lipstick form.
  • Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Illuminating Setting Spray – This does nothing to illuminate as far as I can see, but it does set my makeup and melts everything nicely together.
  • Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick “Drivers Seat” – Nice everyday nude. A bit of a darker nude but it works really well for me since my lips are quite pigmented in the first place. And the formula of this is exceptional!
  • KissMe lipgloss “Fiancé” – Nice baby pink gloss.
  • Too Faced Lip Injection gloss (name unknown) – My project pan gloss that is almost empty. Crossing my fingers that June will be our last month together.
  • MAC Plushglass “Fashion Fanatic” – Another pink gloss. I really like gloss this time of year.
  • H&M Lipstick “Arabesque” – High-shine, low pigment, glossy and comfortable. Perfect for summer as well.

It is always so nice to start every month fresh with new content in my everyday bag. For me this is whats keep me excited to put on makeup in the morning, and I can’t wait to get some use out of these products. I am especially happy about giving some much needed attention to my older eyeshadows. With new stuff coming in all the time it is hard to remember to use those old gems, so I am happy to spent a whole month with some old friends.

What is your strategy? Do you rotate your makeup or do you pick from your whole collection every day?

XOXO

Makeup hauls in May 2018

Time to collect all the goodies I captured in May! I love seing what other people pick up from the stores so I am hoping some of you will feel the same and enjoy this post. Let me know in the comments if you picked up something nice layely!

IMG_20180510_110008_132.jpg

First a little Smashbox! I’ve heard great things about the Always on Liquid Lipsticks from Smashbox and I am not the one to turn down a good liquid lipstick so I picked up the shade “Driver’s Seat”. Let’s just say I will be picking up a few more shades because this one is great! I also wanted to try the Photo Finish Primer Water and got the limited edition So Chill Coconut scent.

IMG_20180510_110052_096.jpg

I needed a new eye cram so the Tolymoly Intense Care Gold 24K Snail Eye Cream was one I waas tempted to try. I had no idea that this was a huge 30 ml tube! Let’s say I will have eyecream for a while now!

The brushes are from the MorpheMe brush subscription and this month I got the R1 tapered powder brush, R12 fan brush, and R35 blender. All useful brushes! I was extra excited about the fan brush since I only had a very old and worn out one that needed replacement. And I never get too many blending brushes either!

IMG_20180510_110029_452.jpg

I was short on lashes too! So this time I decided to try two new styles. One is the Eylure Exaggerate N 143. I really enjoyed Eylure lashes lately. And the other style is House of Lashes Featherette. A lash brand I am also very pleased with.

I also picked up one more shade of the NYX Powder puff and the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink. I had one of each from before, but wanted to collect a few more shades to be able to review them properly. The Maybelline one is “Poet” and the NYX one is “Puppy Love”.

IMG_20180524_091441_428.jpg

Since I decided to start a Looxie eyeshadow collection I figured it was proper to pick up their magnetic palette along with a few shades. Here are Dream On, Deep, Amber, Root Beer and Bubbly. I just started doing some looks with these!

IMG_20180515_211717_701.jpg

IMG_20180524_091256_397.jpg

And no month is complete for me without a Colourpop haul or two. I mean how can you resist good quality for low cost?

I cot the Shayla X Colourpop Perception palette and the newer Fame palette along with the Lux Lipstick “Quickie”, Flexitarian Super Shock Highlighter and the single pan eyeshadow “Bassline” from the festival collection they released in April. Also a complimentary Super Shock Eyeshadow. Both the Super Shock shadow and Flexitarian came broke so I had to repress them. Oh well!

IMG_20180524_091401_819.jpg

Also some necessities. I am soon running out of a brow pencil at work, so I need this E.L.F Brow Pencil. Just in case you wonder, I run to work every morning and get ready there. I don’t need a brow pencil for touch-ups. It is for my everyday makeup.

The Maybelline Mater Drama Kohl Pencil you have probably seen mentioned over and over. I am soon to run out of the second pencil, and I had to get this third one as a backup. It is just one of those things I never want to run out of…ever!

IMG_20180524_091333_606.jpg

Since I’ve never tried a Ofra higlighter before, I figured this little palette with three of their shades Blissful, Rodeo Drive and Pillow Talk would be a nice place to start to test out their formula. The little palette is handy as well.

IMG_20180531_182143_322.jpg

The Nubian 2 finally arrived as well (I ordered it the 11th April! and I got it a couple of days ago). I love Juvia’s Place palettes and I kind of want them all. So it was nice to add another one to my collection. They are usually so much fun to play around with!

IMG_20180525_181800_550.jpg

And lastly I received my liquid lipstick subscription from LiveGlam KissMe with these three gorgeous shades!

I have to say I think I did pretty good this month. I am trying (very hard) to not buy more than what I have time to use and review properly. To be honest it piles up from time to time. You can tell my the amount of Throwback Thursday posts I am able to do weather or not my review pile is too big, and I haven’t been too good in that department since March, but I am getting my head over water hear now it feels. I typically review 4 palettes each month, and I only added two new (look at me praising myself for only hoarding moderately). Overall I picked up mostly things I was running out of and needed, and the review pile did not grow any bigger than what I can handle. Yay me!

Did you add something exciting to your collection this month, or are you rocking a low-buy?

XOXO
