My latest empties!

Do we need to introduce these posts still? You know the drill I guess, here are my latest empties and some mini reviews for each of them:

Not so much variation in products this time I am afraid of. Mostly stuff for yous skin except a soap to make  you clean and a hair product to get your hair look decent.

You all know I love these. I go through them all the time, and they’ve been my holy grail body cream for many many years (6 now I believe now that I think about them. I purchased my first when I was halfway through my Masters Degree, and it is five years now since I delivered….wow, I am getting old). Let’s just go  through them as usual with me talking about the scent. You all now the product is delicious anyway!

#49 Haus Of Gloi – Samhain II: This one smells so much like soil in the fall. The scent description on the jar says “Freshly turned earth, wet leaves, and a cool spectre ridden wind. The scent is very unique and unisex. I like it, but I have quite a few others I like more. I would not mind picking this up again though if it is released in a future release (It is not in their general catalogue).

#50 Haus of Gloi – Mood Dog: A more sweet and heavy scent. But being my third jar I obviously like it and will for sure repurchase. It smells like Cracked coconut, sandalwood, nutmeg and clove. Sweet, warm scent that lacks the artificial feel coconut scents often get, and I love that!

#51 Haus of Gloi – Apothecary: My second jar of this scent. This is so herbal, citrusy and fresh. The jar descriptions says “Old books, bubbling concoctions, herbs and creaking floor boards! A pure essential oil blend of: Lemongrass, rosemary, atlas cedarwood, sweet basil, lavender and the tiniest drop of vetiver.” Doesn’t that sound delicious?

#52 Mizon Peptide Ampoule Cream: Gives a decent amount of moisture but I was a bit indifferent about this to be honest. It was neither good or bad, but did the job with moisturizing my skin. Won’t repurchase though since I would rather try something else.

#53 L’Oreal Pure Clay Purifying Cleansing Gel: I think I may have been the wrong user for this. I don’t really suffer from impurities in the skin so it was hard for me to really tell if it did any difference. It did a good job with cleansing my skin without stripping it for moisture though. I may repurchase it because it work as a cleanser, but I will try out some other stuff first.

#54 Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force Lightweight Smoothing Lotion Spray: Another holy grail product. I always had one of these since I picked up my first one three years ago. I now use it every single day and I love how smooth and healthy it makes my hair look. My hair very quickly turns into a big ball of frizz if I don’t give it enough moisture, but this keeps my hair so soft without weighing it down. Love this, and I already have a new one opened in addition to a backup!

#55 LUSH Slammer Shower Gel: Even though I do find the LUSH shower gels to be a tad bit drying (it does not matter much because I ALWAYS moisturize after a shower, which you can probably tell by my amount of pumpkin butter empties) I do like them. This scent is so fresh ans zesty and perfect for after a exercise run in early  mornings. The scent is not available anymore, but I will pick it up if LUSH decide to re-release it again.

I now reached over 50 empties and I am excited to see if I manage to reach 200 by the end of the year (that’s what the counting stands for if you wondered). It may be a bit hard to reach 200 since I don’t count samples or one-time-use things like sheet masks. I also avoid essentials like toothpaste because it is so boring. Time will show I guess.

Did you empty something fun lately?

Trashbin donations – Also known as my latest beauty empties!

Time for another empties post with mini reviews of the beauty and makeup items I’ve been finishing lately. I always feel I am a bit behind on these posts, and as soon as I finish one I got a new pile ready for the next round. Am I the only one?

This month I got both good, bad and so-so products. And a bit of every category.

#42 Argan Oil of Morocco Hair Treatment Oil – Since I have curly hair I need some hair oil in my life. I got this one over two years ago, and only finished it now. Mainly because I tend to reach for my Haus of Gloi hair oils over this one. This seems like a good enough oil. It does the job, but I just prefer the Haus Of Gloi ones. Therefore I will not repurchase.

#43 Maybelline Master Drama Khôl Pencil “Ultra Black” – If you ever read the list I makeu under each makeup look on this blog you must have seen this mentioned over and over again. This is the creamies, darkest kajal I’ve ever seen and it is perfect for smoky looks. I already started using a new one and don’t see myself stopping any time soon. Fantastic pencil for dark smoky looks!

#44 Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil “Zero” – I used to really enjoy this and I have been throught 5 or 6 of them throughout the years, but after I got to know about the Maybelline one this one seems more grey than black. I won’t repurchase simply because I found something better.

#45 LUSH H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment – The hair mask with the impossible to pronounce name and funky scent of sweet spice. This is my second jar, and I love how nourished and healty my hair looks after use. I will for sure repurchase this!

#46 Batiste Dry Shampoo Divine Dark – I enjoy Batiste dry shampoos because they work and are cheap. This one is among my favorites because it is intended for dark hair so it does not leave a white cast as the others do. Another one I will repurchase for sure. I always have a Batiste in my bathroom.

#47 The Body Shop Mango Exfoliating Sugar Body Scrub – This smells divine but that about it. I have tried many products from The Body Shop but unfortunately it is not a brand I tend to be very lucky with. This one did not work for me because it does not really work as a scrub in my opinion. It is so little grains that I have to use loads of the product to feel any effect. I got 4 uses out of this whole jar, and to be honest it was more of a greasy mess than a scrub. I did smell fruity-licious though! Will not repurchase (fortunately their Mango Shower Gel smells just as good).

#48 Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil Balm – Nice balm that gets the job done and melts off the makeup. It smells like sour apple candy. I like it, it works well, but I do think I have a few others I prefer. I may or may not repurchase. I don’t know. But if you like that artifical apple candy scent than maybe you would enjoy this? Because the balm works, no doubt about that.

I would love to know if you tried any of these, and your thought on them. It is always fun to hear other peoples experiences. We are all different after all!

Lets go through my trash again!

I am guilty of letting my empties pile grow again, and now I have some empties post to make in the near future. Todays empties you’ve probably heard of before, because a lot of them are from my project pan and now I finally get to throw away a few of them!

#32 – Colourpop Aquamarine Crystal Setting Spray: The product is OK. It gets rid of the powder face, but does not do much more. The bottle is an awful evil thing that will completly soak up your face and partly destroy the makeup you just put so much work in. I finished this by pouring it over to another spray bottle. Will absolutely not repurchase again (unless they promise to do something with that spritzer).

#33 – Colourpop Aquamarine Crystal Setting Spray: Same as above. Happy to bin these guys!

#34 – Missha Signature Wrinkle Fill Up B.B Cream: This did not really work for me. I felt like it enhanced all imperfections, and I kind of think that a BB Creams should work opposite than that. So I just used it whenever I just felt like playing around with makeup, and didn’t need a perfect base for hours, just something to even out my skintone while experimenting by myself. Will not repurchase or recommend this.

#35 – Too Faced Lip Injection Gloss (shade name unknown): Gives the lip a bit of a tingle and my mouth a bad taste. I don’t see any plumping effect and I definitely have glosses that don’t tingle in an uncomfortable way or puts a bad taste on all my beverages. Other that that it did look nice on the lips. Will not repurchase.

#36 – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: One of my old favorites. I really need to get myself a new one, because this is definitely a repurchase!

#37 – Origins Ginger Essence: This EDT is also a project pan empty. I really like this scent and may repurchase sometime in the future. Origins have a body lotion with the same scent which I also love.

#38 – Colourpop Lippie Stix “Lumière”: This is empty because I decided to put it in the washing machine (hence the water drops). I am so sad! I like both the lippie stix formula and this shade in particular, and will pick up a new one soon.

#39 Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Eye Liner: I don’t know if this product was already too old and dry when I got it, because I have heard so many good things about this that does not match my experience. The felt tip was quite long, and therefore dried up really quickly. I found it really hard to make a proper winged-liner look because it just dried up on my. It worked along the lash line, or for more subtle looks. But when I put in the effort of wearing a liquid liner I rarely go for the barely-there look. Will not repurchase.

#40 – Haus of Gloi Pumkin Butter “Odette”: I love these punpkin butters. I have gone through countless jars and I have a small army left in my bathroom. Odette is a lovely, clean scent sun dried linens, tuberose, ginger lily and white musk. Very calming and fresh at the same time. Will for sure pick up this scent again!

#41 – Haus of Gloi Pumkin Butter “Eudemonia”: Off course, you know I love the product. I also really like the scent. This one smells of warm ginger, coconut cream, hawaiian sandalwood and a drop of blood orange. It is unique and warming without being to heavy, and the ginger gives is somewhat of a fresh twist. This one is also something I will repurchase for sure.

And that is all! Did you finish anything fun lately? I feel inspired to make another Haus of Gloi order because I need to restock on some faves!

Stuff that is ready for the bin – Makeup and beauty products I’ve finished!

Time to feed my trash bin with empty nips and bits from my bathroom shelves and makeup drawers.

Sometimes I feel like I am drowning in empties. Like now, because I quite recently made an empties post, I am doing one now, and I still have enough empties to fill the next post. While other times I am just wondering why the heck I don’t get any empties because I shower, do a full skincare and makeup routine every day and still there is nothing empty to talk about. Am I the only one with undisciplined empties like this?

Well, they are here now. I feel like mentioning the number thingy again, since I gained a few followers lately. I like to number each empty product I talk about so that I by the end of this year can see how many products I actually go through. Just my way of keeping track.

And here they are. A bit of haircare, a bit of skincare and a bit of makeup. If you have been following me for a while you may wonder where my empty Haus Of Gloi Pumpkin Butters are. I can assure you, they exist. But they exist in my locker at work and they were not here for this photo session, so they will be joining us next time. I still go through them like crazy so nothings changed.

#32. Rituals Ritual of Sakura Conditioner: Nourishing conditioner that smells like fresh cherry flowers. Gives my hair a lot of shine, but it also weigh it down a tiny bit. I love Rituals, and have several of their shampoos and conditioners, I just think my hair is a bit too fine for this.

#33. Rituals Ritual of Sakura Shampoo: Same thing as the conditioner. They are obviously made to match. Each other that means. Not me.

#34. Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser: I actually posted a review of this a while back. Have a read here if you are curious about all the details. The short version is that I really like this and would happily repurchase. Just have to go through some other stuff first, but the brand intrigued me and I will be happy to have this back, and potentially try more from the brand.

#35. Bella Lucce Arabian Odyssey Massage Oil: Since no one is here to hand out back rubs this has been a body oil for me. Works well for that purpose, gives lot of moisture and smells divine (but quite heavy). Don’t know if I will buy the oil again, but I will definitely buy the body cream with the same scent. Less sticky you know, and since I don’t see any back rubs coming my way I might as well stick to the cream.

#36. Secret Key Snail Repairing Toner: Honestly I don’t know what to think of this toner. I could not notice any difference. I guess I don’t need to be repaired then. Won’t buy again. Would rather pick up something else hoping it will work.

#37. The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Powder: Really like this powder, not only because I love The Balm Packaging, but also because this works really well as a mattifying setting powder. It works so well that I already have a new one.

#38. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara: Or not so great lash mascara? I remember when I was a teenager and EVERYONE had this! This was THE mascara to own. So I picked it up again after like 10+ years without trying it, and I was not impressed. Short spider-leg lashes was all it gave me. Like maybe 5-6 of them on each lash. It is a mystery where the rest of my lashes went. I am definitely not buying this again.

I got a few empties to share with you!

It is filling up in my empties bin again, so I will make a couple of these empties posts now ans distribute them as I see fit. I don’t want to drown you in my pile of empties, but after all, sharing empties is a great way of sharing reviews. Both good and bad!

I tend to write more positive reviews on my blog. Not because I don’t encounter products that don’t work for me. It’s just so much more fun to share the good stuff!

I don’t really have bad stuff to share with you this time either. Sorry to get your hopes up. But it’s not only favorites I will repurchase either. Lets just get on with it!

I am a bit LUSH fan, so I have some LUSH empties to chat about:

#25: American Cream Body Lotion: Similar scent as the conditioner and it lingers really well on the skin. No need for additional perfumes wearing this. It is not the most nourishing lotion, but sinks into the skin very fast and does not feel heavy. My boyfriend thinks I smell like grandma, I think I smell awesome. If you like the conditioner scent and have not Saharan-dry skin I think you will like this too. If they would only restock!

#26: BIG Sea Salt Shampoo: This is also a BIG favorite. I love the scent. I love how rubbing those chunky grains of salt in my hair feels (that came of creepy), and I love how much volume it gives my hair. It just feels so refreshing. I already have another tub in my bathroom ready to go.

I know if you follow my blog you have seen these before. My holy grail body butter I have been using non-stop for 5 or 6 years now! These are two scents that were a part of their fall collection (I am sure it will be released again next fall too), so I will just describe the scents and what I think of them since it should be fairly obvious by now that I am a huge fan of the product (I have like 25 jars or so stashed)!

#27: Haus Of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Drift Wood: Sun bleached driftwood, dry black musk, warm sand, dune grasses and damp oceanic breeze.

Even though this scent is lovely it is not exactly my taste. It was a bit heavier than I expected, and a bit more masculine. I could have easily mistaken this scent as a mans perfume, which is not a bad thing, it’s just not what I want my body butter to smell. Could be great if you are into unisex fragrances.

#28: Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter – Narcosa: A thick haze of tonka and black vanilla, three jasmines, tuberose and ylang ylang.

Sweet, pretty, floral scent. I really like this. May pick it up in the next fall release, but there are so many big favorites released at that time so I may focus on those instead (like Grimore or Hex).

#29: A’Pieu Aqua Nature Dewdrop Clouding Cream: Super light weight and hydrating cream. Works well for me in summer, but is a tad too light weight in winter. Does not have much “extra” benefits, but it is a nice, simple and very affordable cream if all you want is to hydrate your skin.

#30: The Saem Urban Eco Harakeke Firming Seed Oil: Smells like sesame seeds! Nice hydration oil. Gives moisture but sinks into the skin quite quickly and does not feel tacky or heavy. Don’t know much about how firming it is.

#31: NYX Micro Brow Pencil – Taupe: I really liked this! Color is good for every day, the tip is very precise, and it is very firm so it is easier to apply without messing up and making it look too dark. I would not mind getting this one again!

And those were all I had for this post. I still have a little bunch of empties to go through, so there will be more empties coming shortly. I just like keeping them short and sweet so they are not boring to read (or time consuming to write).

Did you try any of these products? I would love to hear your opinion if you did!

Recent beauty and makeup empties

Time for another post featuring products I’ve finished lately. For the sake of my readers (and for the sake of me) I try to do these more frequently to keep these posts a bit shorter to read (and to write). So I keep the number of products limited.

It seems like these posts are quite popular judging by the number of you deciding to take a peak at the post so I hope you find them interesting to read. I am always very happy to see that people took their time to read. Maybe empties posts tend to be popular because the most thorough reviews are done when I actually managed to finish the products and test them out properly.

So lets start off with some facial cleansers!

18. Its Skin Citron Cleansing Foam: This one smells like sweet citron caramels. Yummy! I quite enjoyed this K-Beauty cleanser. It did the job without leaving my skin stripped from moisture, and it felt soft and clean afterwards. I would not mind buying this one again since it did the job good enough, but at the same time it didn’t blow my mind. So I am also quite happy to test out some other cleansers before running out and repurchasing again. Although I am not of an instant need to get a new one, I would happily recommend it.

19. Cosrx Low PH Morning Gel Cleanser: Again, this one did the job well. My skin felt nice and clean. It was a bit waist-full since it didn’t foam and I felt I had to use quite a bit of it every time, but my skin felt nice and comfortable afterwards. I found it a bit boring since it didn’t have any scent to it, but for some this may be a preference.

20. Innisfree Green Tea Moisture Cleansing Oil: This one removes makeup really easy. Great on those stubborn liquid lipsticks or waterproof eyeliners. The scent is nice and clean, and I appreciate how efficient it works. I won’t be repurchasing this again though because I am wearing lenses and felt like my vision got blurred for quite some time after using this. Besides that issue the product works great! Bonus for the handy pump bottle.

21. Schwarzkopf Got2B Dry Shampoo: This one is the second of the pair of dry shampoo I got on sale. I am happy to see this go though because it didn’t do much for me. I prefer the Batiste dry shampoos that gives the hair some volume and texture. This one did soak up some excess oil in my hair, but it also left it flat. It didn’t work to well for my dark brown hair either since it gave one heck of a white cast. I will just stick to Batiste for another while.

22. Esteè Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer – Light 01: If you want a really long wear concealer this one is worth checking out. I find the coverage to be medium, at least after getting to know Shape Tape, but it covers what I need nicely (I don’t have very dark circles, just a little shadow under there I want to cover a bit and brighten). This one is fairly creaseless. When I both it the sales lady in the store insisted that you didn’t need a powder to set this. I am not so sure about that, but I agree that you only need a tiny amount to avoid the concealer settling into lines. When wearing this you better make sure your foundation is long wearing as well, because this guy goes nowhere. I once did the misstake of wearing it together with a BB Cream that faded after a few hours, making my oner eye look very overdone compared to the rest of my face. But if you want something long-wearing, this is for you!

23. NYX Super Skinny Marker: A felt tip eyeliner with a super fine and precise tip. It did not bleed and I managed to do some pretty detailed graphic liner work with this guy. The downside is that after one advanced look where I had to spend some time working with it, the product was dried up and useless. With a lifespan of barely a month I didn’t find this to be worth the affordable price-tag. Won’t repurchase this again.

24. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio – Brown Eyes: I don’t have brown eyes, but I did want a brown eyeliner and that’s why I got this trio of eyeliners (the black and purple are not finished yet though). It is not as pigmented as I wanted it to be, but I managed to finish it using it for simple everyday looks where intense pigmentation is not the biggest priority. Won’t repurchase this because I am convinced there are better brown eyeliners out there.

So, I guess not an empties post filled with favorites since I won’t repurchase most of these. The only one I am certain about repurchasing shortly is the concealer. I guess all products can’t be hits, but I am pretty pleased with finding ways to finish of products even though I have bigger favorites in my collection.

If you know any of these products I would love to hear your thought in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by and reading, as always it is highly appreciated!

Beauty Empties – What I’ve been going through lately.

I hope to manage to keep these empties post coming quite frequently because I think most people find it better reading about a few products at the time instead of going through a mile long blog post. At least I personally find it easier to pick up the content if it is not too many empties at the time. Like last time I will continue numbering the products to kind of get an overview of what I go through in one year. So in case you missed the previous post and are wondering about the numbers in front of the description of each empties they are just a way for me to keep track over all products I finish in 2018.

This time I have a lot of Haus of Gloi pumpkin butters to talk about. I use these guys all the time, and I have ever since I discovered them some 5 years ago or so. They are my favorite body butter, and I really really really can’t get enough of them. So I will be talking more about the scent than the product because they are all wonderful body butters!

10. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Insalata Nocturna: One of my very favorite scents for a long time. It smells like green bolivian lemon, rubbed tomato leaf. olive leaf, black fig syrup and basil. I really recognize the tomato leaf note and it reminds me of holidays in Italy. It is fresh, green and a bit herbal. Love to wear this on warm summer nights.

11. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Grimoire: A small jar of this since I was only testing out the scent for the first time. It was a part of their fall collection, and I quickly grabbed three big jars before it dissappeared because I need this one in my life! The scent description sais crumbling pages, leather binding and polished wood. I though it would be a much darker and heavier scent when I read the scent description but it is just a clean and fresh scent.

12. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Red Roan: Another jar i grabbed a small size of to test out the scent. I need more of this as well! It is a delicious sweet and foody scent that smells like strawberry flecked porridge with maple syrup and adulterated with a splash of white cognac. If you like sweet and foody stuff this is awesome!

13. Haus of Gloi Pumpkin Butter Satyr: This scent is a bit nostalgic to me because it was the first Haus of Gloi scent I ever tried. And I obviously fell in love with it since I have been a big fan ever since. Is smells like italian blood orange drizzled with blackened vanilla and it’s such a warm sweet citrus scent. Intense and beautifully mesmerizing.

14. Tosowoong Black Sugar Facial Scrub: A big jar of K-Beauty facial scrub with sugar grains suitable for all skin types. It has a pleasant sugar scent that is not at all overpowering and the sugar scrub exfoliates nicely. I felt like it left a film of oil on my face after using it, which can be good for dry skin, but I prefer a more clean feel after using an exfoliator. So I won’t be repurchasing this.

15: LUSH Seanik shampoo bar: This is a naked product, so I had to just showcase the tin to represent the now finished shampoo bar. Seanik is a nice, volumizing shampoo that is almost like BIG in a shampoo bar (minus the salt grains) so it feels refreshing and it makes my hair full of volume after using it. I think I’ve been through 3-4 of these already and I surely will pick one up again soon. LUSH shampoo bars are so much fun, lasts for a very long time, and I really like the lack of packaging.

16. Yves Rocher Pear & Cocoa Bath & Shower Gel: The gel is ok. Lathers and gets the job done. Not the biggest fan of the scent which was limited edition anyway and not avaliable anymore. Won’t miss this, but will happily try more of  Yves Rocher shower gels.

17. Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force Lotion Spray: Holy Grail hair treatment after showering. Makes my hair very smooth, shiny and with nice defined curly without feeling heavy or greasy. Already have a new one open and I use it every day!

Just realized that except from the facial scrub most of these are well loved products I’ve been using over and over again. Just a bunch of staples from my beauty routine.

Thanks so much for reading!
