My top 5 favorite Colorupop products!

I have said on several occation both on my Instagram and here that I cannot possably pick a favorite Colourpop palette. I could fairly easily pick out a few that would not be my favorte (Like She, Golden State Of Mind, Yes Please), but I just would not be able to pick say a top 5. There are just too many I love.

IMG_20190911_110512_631.jpg

But what I can do is to talk about my top 5 products from the brand! I haven’t tried everything, but I have actually been through quite a lot of their line. I am missing a few producuts like the jelly much shadows, the stick foundation and a few other items, but for the most part I know my way around the brand. So I want to talk to you about the things I treasure the most! So in no specific order, here are my top 5 products from Colourpop:

IMG_20190911_110542_432.jpg

1.Pressed Powder Eyeshadows: Even though I find it to be an impossible task to pick my favorite palettes from Colourpop, they are just too many good ones, I can’t make a post about my favorites withouth talking about their eyeshadows. They are just fantastic for the price, actually they are fantastic regardless of the price, but it’s nice to get great stuff for little money. Now I am specifically thinking about their pressed powder eyeshadows, and both the single pan ones and the ones in the palettes are equally good. The general quality of the shadows are usually very consistent, and that’s one of the very great things. When I order a Colourpop palette, no matter what color or finish it is, I can trust the quality to be great. I am pretty sure these are one of the finest eyeshadows within this price range. And since Colourpop is Colourpop and release palettes almost faster than people change their socks, they naturally have a palette option avaliable for every preference out there. I just love these palettes, and keep on buying them. I am actually a bit scared to think about how big my Colourpop Eyeshadow collection must be 2 years from now, but I just enjoy them so much!

IMG_20190911_110753_403.jpg

2. No Filter Concealer: The No Filter Concealer is also a big hit for me. By far my favorite item of all the items in the No Filter line. I love how it looks like a concealer. It gives nice coverage, blend easily, it does not rease or emphasize fine lines, and I just really like how it looks. It also works great as an eyeshadow base for me, and since the tip is very presice and easy to control I also use this concealer to cut the crease, and I don’t even have to go in with a brush because the applicator is fine enough. So this is just a great concealer and a great multi-tasker for only 6.50$.

IMG_20190911_110610_017.jpg

3. Colourpop BFF Mascara: Do you know any other brand that has as many colorful mascaras as Colourpop have? Coloeful mascaras has been a gap in my collectino that I have been unable to fill. Before these released, a colorful liquid lipstick or liquid liner was what I would have to use to get some colorful lashes. Now I got it a whole lot easier just applying some fancy colors with a mascara wand. Also these mascaras are very volumizing and pigmented so the colors actually show up! Such a lovely and unique product. Or, maybe not the product is unique, but the amazing range of colors surely is. In this department I think Colourpop is unmatched. I am not aware of any other brands that offers something even close.

IMG_20190911_110640_094.jpg

4. Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter: The Super Shock Highlighters is one of their really old school products. These highlihgters was actually one of the very first products I picked up from Colourpop. At first I liked them, but I did not love them. It just took me some time to figure out how to properly make them work for me. I don’t like applying things with my fingers, so the key to falling in love with these highlighters was just a matter of finding the right tool to apply. And now that I do (it’s a synthetic highlighter brush) these is among my all time favorite highlighter formula. Not just a favorite among Colourpop products but these highlighters are a highly valued addition to my fairly large highlighter collection. I have some in singles and some in palettes, and the formula is just so lovely. My oldest one, Lunch Money, is three years old now and still works like a charm (It’s almost finished actually) so I don’t experience having a problem with these drying out as with the Super Shock Shadows. Just the loveliest highighters and I much prefer these to their pressed powder highlighters.

IMG_20190911_110712_832.jpg

5. Colourpop Glitterally Obsessed Glitter Gel: The final amazing Colourop product I want to talk about it their Glitterally Obsessed glitter gels! These are by far my most used glitters because they are so mess free and easy to apply. It’s just so easy to add a bit of sparkle to a look with these glitter gels withouth making a mess on your vanity, and withouth having glitter fallout all over your face after a few hours. These just stay in place, and these’s no need for a glitter glue. Plus they also come in a whole lot of stunning sparkly colors!

What are your favorite products from Colourpop?

Favorite Makeup Products of 2018

This post is a bit overdue. We are already in February (gosh, how did that happen?) and this could easily have been posted in December (except December being very busy for me). The reason why it’s so late is because I am convinced I will forget something very important and then that will annoy me…for the rest of the year. Because you need to know the best of the best during last year and I don’t want you to miss anything. This is obviously very important. We are talking about life changing things like makeup after all. I finally scrambled together some of my absolute favorite products, so here they are!

IMG_20190201_150138_635.jpg

Juvia’s Place The Magic Palette: Zulu was my first eyeshadow palette from Juvia’s and I really do like that, but the Magic Palette is the one that really made me convinced that I needed them. I needed them all! And then I started my mission of collecting all Juvia’s Place palettes there is. The Magic palette is HUGE and have a wonderful selection of so many stunning and interesting shades. It does hold a special place in my collection just for that reason that it is the palette that made me fall in love with the brand. If you want to read the review with swatches and all you can do that right here.

IMG_20190201_150309_102.jpg

Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter Molten Rose Gold: If you are in the mood for a super intense metallic highlight that is drugstore priced then this really is a fantastic option. This highlighter deserves all the hype it gets without doubt. I had this several times in my monthly makeup bag, and even though I always had more options to choose from, I always reached for this. I bet this will be reached for a lot also in 2018. I also have the shades Molten Gold and Sandstone Shimmer, but the Molten Rose Gold is the one that match my skin best.

IMG_20190201_150357_504.jpg

Zoeva Brow Spectrum: This must be the most versatile brow product out there. With 9 shades in a slim packaging where you get anything from dark, to cold to warm brow powders in addition to two shimmery highlighter shades that are beautiful as cheek highlighters and even one matte white brow bone shade. The brow powders also work fine as eyeshadows. Perfect for travel if you want to travel light because you have everything you need for your brows, for your highlighter and your eyeshadow all in one sleek 9 pan palette. I have been using this over and over and over again. If you ever read the list over product I use in my makeup looks you find this palette mentioned almost every single time. A true staple in my collection for sure! If you are interested to read more in detail you will find a review here.

IMG_20190201_150238_783.jpg

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter “Be My Highlight” : This is the same as the highlighter from Maybelline: One I have had in my monthly makeup bag several times and that I’ve just been reaching for over and over again. This one is very different from the Maybelline though in the sense that it’s more of a natural glow-from-within kind of highlighter while Maybelline is intense metallic. It’s nice to have both! The price of this one is also amazing, and the only downside for me is that it’s almost impossible to get (It’s not sold in any stores physically or online that ships to Norway) because I would like to have like 9. So I could have backups for life. This is one of the few highlighters I own that I am convinced I will go through eventually.

IMG_20180815_122223_127.jpg

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter: This is an amazing product for glowy skin. It’s quite an interesting product too, because it can kind of be whatever you want to be. Use it underneath your primer, use it on it’s own with a bit of concealer and powder for a light but super glowy complexion, use it as a natural highlighter or use it mixed with your foundation. It just makes my skin look so glowy and healthy. I did already review this amazing little thing, so you can read the full review here if you are interested.

IMG_20190201_150422_357.jpg

BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival Palette: This one deserves a spot on this list because this palette alone made me chance my impression of BH Cosmetics as a brand completely. Before trying the weekend festival palette I had already tried 4 palettes by the brand without being particularly impressed. I decided to give this one a try because every review I saw of it was nothing less than great. Off course I ended up falling in love with this palette, and the reason why this specifically is in my favorites is because this made me change my opinion about BH Cosmetics as a brand. I mean, if they can do something like this then they are bound to be able to make more good stuff in the future. This palette alone made me purchase even more palettes from BH Cosmetics, and it deserves a place among my yearly favorites not just because it sparked my interest in the brand, but also because it’s always inspires me to do something fun when I open it. And off course, the quality is great!

IMG_20190201_150336_119.jpg

Smashbox Always On liquid Lipsticks: With this one I don’t want to mention any specific shade, but the formula in general. I picked up my first one of these in 2018, and they went straight up to the top of my favorites list. Absolutely wonderful formula that is comfortable even though it dries completely. I am hoping to collect more shades in 2019. because these are just so wonderful.

IMG_20190201_150214_894.jpg

Certifeye The Tropical Wonders Eyeshadow Palette: The best of the best rainbow palettes! Can you see the little baby pan in the yellow shade? That was the first time ever I actually hit pan in a bright shade. The only shades I’ve hit pan on before are neutral shades I reach for for everyday looks. I have been reaching for this so much, and I love using it for anything colorful! i highly recommend this to anyone who need a full matte colorful palette because this is pigment!

IMG_20190201_150527_244.jpg

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick: Again, not a specific color. I have around 20 of them and they all work great. I have a hard time picking which one I like the better of this and the Smashbox Always On. The formula is equally good but I think the Jeffree Star ones gets a few extra points for their amazing shade selection and the fact that they are eye safe! I love using these in the water line when I want something that really stands out (and won’t budge). I am sure I will pick up a few more shades of this in 2019 as well. These are just hard to beat!

I am sure there are many other things I could’ve mentioned. I do love all my Juvia’s Place palettes, and Colourpop palettes and Natasha Denona palettes are also big big hits for me. I just don’t think I have been using them often enough for them to be in my yearly favorites even though I can think of a whole bunch of eyeshadow palettes that I love the color and quality of!

And you, what was your favorite makeup items in 2018?

Remember I do also exist on Instagram by the way!

Top 3 Luxury Brands in 2018!

So it’s time for the final top brands post. If you missed them be sure to check out my top 3 affordable makeup brands in 2018 and my top 3 high end brands of 2018. Now it’s time to dive into some proper luxury items, and talk about my very favorite luxury brands of 2018! So here they are, in to specific order, the best of luxury 2018:

IMG_20190124_153737_177.jpg

Natasha Denona:  I have talked so much about how I love Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes it was natural to have this brand among my top 3 luxury brands of last year. I have said over and over again that my top three favorite brands for eyeshadows are Colourpop, Juvia’s Place and Natasha Denona. If I could only pick one of them I have to say Natasha Denona would be the one I picked. The formula on both the mattes and shimmers/metallics are beautiful but the mattes in particular are so dreamy. Now, the price point is horrific, but I just can’t help but loving her palettes for their great quality.

IMG_20190124_153630_729.jpg

Charlotte Tilbury: Almost everything I’ve tried from this brand has been a hit! Every product on this picture is well loved favorites. The Hollywood Flawless Filter was a new discovery for me this year, and is absolutely one of my most loved and used product of the year! You can read the full review about that one here if you are particularly interested. The matte red lipstick called “The Queen” is also an absolutely divine shade! And not only are most of the products I’ve tried amazing, but the whole brand has such a luxurious look and feel to it.

IMG_20190124_153647_707.jpg

Hourglass: This is the final brand, and even though I only own three product the brand as a whole gives such an impressive impression that I am already in love with the brand. This is the kind of brand where you wonder if they can do any wrong at all. I have Ambient Strobe Lightning Powder, a travel size bronzer and a blush from the brand and all of them are big favorites! This is for sure a brand I will pay more attention too in 2019, and hopefully collect more items because all these products are just beautiful!

What would be your luxury brand favorites for 2018? Or just your favorite brand?

Top 3 High End Brands in 2018!

You may have seen my top three affordable brands of 2018 recently, and it’s about time we get on to the high-end brands I have been loving the most in 2018 (There will also be a top 3 luxury brands too). The brands I put in the ranking must be brands I have been purchasing new items from and really been using and loving the past year. I do know brands that I like equally good as some of these, but I may not have picked any products from the brand (or just very few) the past year. I also have some brands that I really really like the products of, but since I only have maybe a few products I don’t think I know them well enough to put them in a ranking like this. But, here are the top three selected in no particular order!

IMG_20190108_145354_191.jpg

MAC Cosmetics: What an amazing cult makeup brand this is! I have always loved MAC as a brand but I feel I got a bit back to the brand this year. I got plenty of new MAC makeup items. I have grown my single pan collection, grabbed some new nice lipsticks and blushes and tried out a few more of their products. They really have everything you could need in their line and it’s such a cult classic brand that I just could not give them a mention. Their lipsticks are among my most used bullet lipsticks.

I remember back a decade that MAC was THE brand to own. Everyone with an interest in makeup collected their single pans, and people went crazy with all the limited edition releases. Back then I can’t think of another brand with such a gigantic line of products. Even though MAC is a great brand and still much loved, I don’t feel it is the one and only brand to own anymore. There are too much makeup brands and too many choices out there now. But they are and always will be a favorite of mine. A cult classic brand for sure!

IMG_20190108_145424_487.jpg

Smashbox: This one was an easy pick too. I never really used Smashbox that much until the last couple of years. I picked up a few items here and there and generally speaking I am very happy with how the products perform. I am not the biggest fan of their eyeshadow formula, but so many of the other things I’ve tried have been such great hits that this brands deserve a spot on this list even though their eyeshadow formula is far from my favorite one. Smashbox are off course famous for their primers, which I use and love, but the stand out item for me must be the Always On Liquid Lipsticks that are simply fantastic! I am also loving their Halo powder.

IMG_20190108_145327_171.jpg

Jeffree Star Cosmetics: I have been a fan of their liquid lipsticks for such a long time now. Actually, since I tried them for the first time they have been my very favorite dry down liquid lipsticks. Only matched by the Smashbox Always On. I do have to say though that Jeffree Star has a much more tempting color selection than what Smashbox does offer. I am also a fan of the JS eyeshadow palettes. Always with unique color stories and different and daring packaging! For the most part I own liquid lipsticks and eyeshadows from the brand, but I know there is a lot in store for us in 2019 and I am sure there will be a lot of great products released. I heard rumors that there will be a concealer soon, and I am all for that!

If you had to pick some favorite high-end brands what would you pick? What have you been loving in 2018?

And remember that I am also on Instagram!

Top 3 Affordable Makeup Brands in 2018!

I did this blog series last year too, where I do three different blog posts talking about the top 3 affordable brands, top 3 high-end brands and top 3 luxury brands. Since it’s always a lot of fun evaluating favorites I decided to do the same this year.

Today we go through the 3 affordable brands I have been using and loving the most throughout the year. Making this little list was soooo easy this year. I just knew right from the top of my head what the brands would be. So let’s talk some makeup!

My top 3 affordable brands (in no particular order:

1st – Makeup Revolution/Revolution Pro

I group Makeup Revolution and Revolution Pro in once because many people (including me) don’t really know the difference. I think it’s been a couple of years now since my first Makeup Revolution order, and it was not the best success. I mean, some products where OK, some where below average, but I did not find anything that amazed me within the first orders. But lately, since they did their re-branding, I am under the impression that the overall quality has improved a lot! I found several gorgeous highlighters, some everyday staple lipstick and even some quite good eyeshadow palettes. And everything it cheap as chips as well!

Things I love that I would like to mention is theri highlighters. They have so many good ones but the Highlighter trio and the Radiance highlighter stands out a bit from the crowd in my opinion. They also released some really good lip toppers with their holliday collection, and off course I cannot forget to mention their big big hit, the Conceal & Define concealer!

2nd – Colourpop

Off course I had to mention Colourpop. I thing this is the brand I have purchased the most items from throughout the whole year. Partly because the constantly put out new releases, and partly because they are super affordable with great quality. Most of the things I’ve tried from them I have enjoyed (a few exceptions do exist though).

The one Colourpop product that are closest to my heart is off course their eyeshadow palettes. The quality is unbeatable for the price. Their eyeshadow formula is among my top three formulas, and that’s including every brand I’ve ever tried from the cheapest drugstore to the most high end luxury formulas. Their palettes have become like Pokemons. Gotta catch them all!

3rd – Juvia’s Place

On more brand that offers amazing quality eyeshadows for a low cost is Juvia’s Place. I fell in love with their formula when I tried the Magic palette, and I have made it a mission to collect every single eyeshadow palette since then. I am actually doing pretty good on that mission, and I will soon have them all. This brand does not dissapoint. Not only do they have a killer metallic formula, they also have an amazing price point. The palettes are cheap in the first place, but you find them on sale so often you can get them for even less than a Colourpop palette!

I love their eyeshadow palettes and are also a big fan of their blushes. The packaging is also so quirky and fun! Can’t wait to see what this brand has planned for us in 2019!

If you had to pick one or three favorite affordable brands this past year what would it be? I am curious to know!

I at least am very excited to see what all these three brands have in store for us in 2019.

Top 6 makeup products from H&M Beauty

This is a makeup line that I feel is totally underrated and not enough people focus on. A lot of people I’ve talked to didn’t even know H&M had their own beauty line in the drugstore price range.

I know availability differs a bit from country to country. Where I live h&M offers quite a large selection of makeup brands like NYX, Maybelline, L’Oreal and a few more in addition to their own line. Parts of the reason may be that we don’t have any drugstores. Ulta does not exits (and they don’t ship here either), and all the typical stores for makeup sell only luxury makeup brands like Dior, Guerlain, Chanel, Lancôme and so on. So we don’t really have any bigger stores that sell drugstore brands. For me where I live, H&M actually has the very best selection of drugstore makeup and it’s my go-to whenever I want to shop in store.

IMG_20181112_164655_920.jpg

Other places only have the H&M beauty line available online. This beauty line is not available in China though, because they want to keep the line cruelty free.

Either way, this brand is worth having an extra look at, so I wanted to do a post with 5 of my favorite items from the  brand. I was not able to decide to go for just 5, so in the end I ended up with 6. I just could not take any of these away!

H&M Cream Lipstick: These are luxury lipsticks for 9.99$. The formula on these are amazing and they really feel high end. Unfortunately the packaging is far from luxurious, but still I keep reaching for these over and over again. The formula is so rich and creamy and comfy to wear it’s amazing that you can get such a good lipstick from a drugstore priced brand. My absolute favorite is “Creamy Chestnut” which is a beautiful peachy nude. I am certain I will pick p more nudes from this line, and I highly recommend them!

IMG_20181112_164729_302.jpg

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blush: These are off course blushes that I love, otherwise they would not be in this post. But they are just so good! There is just something about how flattering the colors look, and how easy they are to apply. The feel and result it gives is so similar to a high end product and I don’t really know how H&M does it. The packaging again is sort of a sad story, but the inside is so good.

They got plenty of colors to pick from. The formula is sheer but buildable which is what makes it so foolproof to apply. They price again is 9.99$ but I often see these on sale for just a fraction of the price. H&M seem to change up their color selection quite a bit and you will regularly find their blushes and lipstick on sale for just a few coins, so make sure you check out if they have any on discount before looking at the full priced blushes. Either way, they are a bargain.

IMG_20181112_164925_338.jpg

H&M Radiant Bronze Island Hopper Glow Powder: A beautiful baked radiant bronzer. My favorite way of using this is just as a topper on my regular bronzer to add a little bit of glow. Or you can use it on it’s own to really get that bronze goddess glowy beach queen kind of look.

This one is so glowy it could even be a highlight on deep complexions.

IMG_20181112_164751_385.jpg

H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil: I got a lot of these and there is a reason why. First of all they are 6.99$ but often found on sale. The selection of colors is great and you find everything from blacks, browns and nude to those fun popping colors that we love. There really is a pencil for everyone within this line.

They are pigmented and very smooth, so they can be used on the waterline as well as smudged on the lash line or even as a base for your eyeshadow. They will last all day on your lash line, and even have very decent staying power in the water line as these set and are not easily rubbed off.

I use these all of the time, and you can very often see them featured in the list of products under my makeup looks.

IMG_20181112_165001_913.jpg

H&M Delicate Pearl Illumination Lustre Powder: This may look like your standard highlighter that everyone has e version of in their drawer, and I partly agree. The color is not unusual, but the result it gives make me reach for it over and over again despite the fact that I probably have 20 other similar highlight. This gives a gorgeous glow, almost metallic, without being shimmery or glittery. It also applies so smoothly and I think it’s just really hard to get a bad result with this because it’s so flattering.

The price is 14.99$ but I would happily pay twice as much, because I still think it would be worth it. A hidden gem in their collection, so if you have a chance I recommend giving it a swatch if you see it in store!

IMG_20181112_164845_713.jpg

Did you ever try anything from the H&M beauty line? Do you have any hits or misses to share then please do so in the comment! I would love to hear your experience with the brand.

My Top 5 Concealers!

Time to share with you some long time favorites of mine. I have around 20 concealers sitting in my collection, and I have tried a bunch more. So I decided to narrow it down and present the top 5 concealers I have tried!

IMG_20181021_184204_958.jpg

You may notice that the usual big time favorite Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is not among my top 5. That’s not because I don’t have it. I actually have it in two shades. It’s not because I don’t like it either, again I have it in two shades, but these 5 are all concealers I prefer over that very famous Shape Tape.

IMG_20181021_184308_408.jpg

I think Makeup Revolution struck gold when they made this Revolution Conceal & Define concealer. This is just amazing and so affordable. It has a huge applicator that let’s you cover what you need under your eyes in one single swipe. The formula is quite thick and it needs to be set to avoid creasing. Many people consider this a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape. I disagree. To me this has a much nicer finish because shape tape is a bit dryer and more matte than this. This is an improved version of Shape Tape in my eyes! The only disadvantage is that you will go through a tube really fast. Now the brand got rid of that problem by releasing a super size version, but I prefer sticking to a smaller tube and changing it more often so the product stays fresh.

IMG_20181021_184333_250.jpg

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer is the concealer that has been in my collection for the longest time (not this exact one off course) and it’s still going strong. This is a fantastic concealer when you really want to make sure your under eyes look good all day, because this really does stay in place all day. I actually found that it’s not the greatest match to a BB Cream that does not have the best longevity. I’ve tried it and ended up with very concealed under eyes while the rest of my face was worn off after some hours. It has good coverage and looks natural on the skin with a satin finish, and it has minimal creasing so you don’t really need to set it.Old time favorite for sure!

IMG_20181021_184431_582.jpg

This Chanel Correcteur Perfection Concealer may very well be my favorite of them all. I want to keep all off my makeup off course, but if I had to pick just one it would be this. It has such a beautiful skin like finish, and it looks like “you” just covered up and brighter and better. The classic and chic Chanel packaging never hurt anyone either.

IMG_20181021_184405_059.jpg

The Bare Minerals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener is not exactly a concealer because it gives very light coverage, but it brightens and lifts the under eye like no other concealer can! For days when I just want a little bit of light coverage this one will do, but it also works really nice to  layer on top of other concealers to add some brightness.

IMG_20181021_184234_898.jpg

Finally the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer! This is actually my only potted concealer. It has great coverage, a soft matte finish (does live up to the name!) and blurs and smooth out your under eyes really really nicely! Great option if you want something that looks a bit more matte. At least on me it does not look or feel drying.

All of these concealers work great for me. They are meant for different uses and for sure not all of them will fit all of you, but I tried to point out their performance so you can decide for yourself. If you want good coverage for instance then obviously avoid that one from bare minerals, and don’t buy the NARS one if you can’t stand a matte finish. However, I find all of these to work great and I will happily use every single one of them depending on what I want that day. I would recommend every single one, and I will repurchase every single one too!

Did you try any of these, and what do you think? What would your top 5 pick be? Leave a comment and let me know!

XOXO
