Top 6 makeup products from H&M Beauty

This is a makeup line that I feel is totally underrated and not enough people focus on. A lot of people I’ve talked to didn’t even know H&M had their own beauty line in the drugstore price range.

I know availability differs a bit from country to country. Where I live h&M offers quite a large selection of makeup brands like NYX, Maybelline, L’Oreal and a few more in addition to their own line. Parts of the reason may be that we don’t have any drugstores. Ulta does not exits (and they don’t ship here either), and all the typical stores for makeup sell only luxury makeup brands like Dior, Guerlain, Chanel, Lancôme and so on. So we don’t really have any bigger stores that sell drugstore brands. For me where I live, H&M actually has the very best selection of drugstore makeup and it’s my go-to whenever I want to shop in store.

IMG_20181112_164655_920.jpg

Other places only have the H&M beauty line available online. This beauty line is not available in China though, because they want to keep the line cruelty free.

Either way, this brand is worth having an extra look at, so I wanted to do a post with 5 of my favorite items from the  brand. I was not able to decide to go for just 5, so in the end I ended up with 6. I just could not take any of these away!

H&M Cream Lipstick: These are luxury lipsticks for 9.99$. The formula on these are amazing and they really feel high end. Unfortunately the packaging is far from luxurious, but still I keep reaching for these over and over again. The formula is so rich and creamy and comfy to wear it’s amazing that you can get such a good lipstick from a drugstore priced brand. My absolute favorite is “Creamy Chestnut” which is a beautiful peachy nude. I am certain I will pick p more nudes from this line, and I highly recommend them!

IMG_20181112_164729_302.jpg

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blush: These are off course blushes that I love, otherwise they would not be in this post. But they are just so good! There is just something about how flattering the colors look, and how easy they are to apply. The feel and result it gives is so similar to a high end product and I don’t really know how H&M does it. The packaging again is sort of a sad story, but the inside is so good.

They got plenty of colors to pick from. The formula is sheer but buildable which is what makes it so foolproof to apply. They price again is 9.99$ but I often see these on sale for just a fraction of the price. H&M seem to change up their color selection quite a bit and you will regularly find their blushes and lipstick on sale for just a few coins, so make sure you check out if they have any on discount before looking at the full priced blushes. Either way, they are a bargain.

IMG_20181112_164925_338.jpg

H&M Radiant Bronze Island Hopper Glow Powder: A beautiful baked radiant bronzer. My favorite way of using this is just as a topper on my regular bronzer to add a little bit of glow. Or you can use it on it’s own to really get that bronze goddess glowy beach queen kind of look.

This one is so glowy it could even be a highlight on deep complexions.

IMG_20181112_164751_385.jpg

H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil: I got a lot of these and there is a reason why. First of all they are 6.99$ but often found on sale. The selection of colors is great and you find everything from blacks, browns and nude to those fun popping colors that we love. There really is a pencil for everyone within this line.

They are pigmented and very smooth, so they can be used on the waterline as well as smudged on the lash line or even as a base for your eyeshadow. They will last all day on your lash line, and even have very decent staying power in the water line as these set and are not easily rubbed off.

I use these all of the time, and you can very often see them featured in the list of products under my makeup looks.

IMG_20181112_165001_913.jpg

H&M Delicate Pearl Illumination Lustre Powder: This may look like your standard highlighter that everyone has e version of in their drawer, and I partly agree. The color is not unusual, but the result it gives make me reach for it over and over again despite the fact that I probably have 20 other similar highlight. This gives a gorgeous glow, almost metallic, without being shimmery or glittery. It also applies so smoothly and I think it’s just really hard to get a bad result with this because it’s so flattering.

The price is 14.99$ but I would happily pay twice as much, because I still think it would be worth it. A hidden gem in their collection, so if you have a chance I recommend giving it a swatch if you see it in store!

My Top 5 Concealers!

Time to share with you some long time favorites of mine. I have around 20 concealers sitting in my collection, and I have tried a bunch more. So I decided to narrow it down and present the top 5 concealers I have tried!

IMG_20181021_184204_958.jpg

You may notice that the usual big time favorite Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is not among my top 5. That’s not because I don’t have it. I actually have it in two shades. It’s not because I don’t like it either, again I have it in two shades, but these 5 are all concealers I prefer over that very famous Shape Tape.

IMG_20181021_184308_408.jpg

I think Makeup Revolution struck gold when they made this Revolution Conceal & Define concealer. This is just amazing and so affordable. It has a huge applicator that let’s you cover what you need under your eyes in one single swipe. The formula is quite thick and it needs to be set to avoid creasing. Many people consider this a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape. I disagree. To me this has a much nicer finish because shape tape is a bit dryer and more matte than this. This is an improved version of Shape Tape in my eyes! The only disadvantage is that you will go through a tube really fast. Now the brand got rid of that problem by releasing a super size version, but I prefer sticking to a smaller tube and changing it more often so the product stays fresh.

IMG_20181021_184333_250.jpg

The Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer is the concealer that has been in my collection for the longest time (not this exact one off course) and it’s still going strong. This is a fantastic concealer when you really want to make sure your under eyes look good all day, because this really does stay in place all day. I actually found that it’s not the greatest match to a BB Cream that does not have the best longevity. I’ve tried it and ended up with very concealed under eyes while the rest of my face was worn off after some hours. It has good coverage and looks natural on the skin with a satin finish, and it has minimal creasing so you don’t really need to set it.Old time favorite for sure!

IMG_20181021_184431_582.jpg

This Chanel Correcteur Perfection Concealer may very well be my favorite of them all. I want to keep all off my makeup off course, but if I had to pick just one it would be this. It has such a beautiful skin like finish, and it looks like “you” just covered up and brighter and better. The classic and chic Chanel packaging never hurt anyone either.

IMG_20181021_184405_059.jpg

The Bare Minerals Stroke Of Light Eye Brightener is not exactly a concealer because it gives very light coverage, but it brightens and lifts the under eye like no other concealer can! For days when I just want a little bit of light coverage this one will do, but it also works really nice to  layer on top of other concealers to add some brightness.

IMG_20181021_184234_898.jpg

Finally the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer! This is actually my only potted concealer. It has great coverage, a soft matte finish (does live up to the name!) and blurs and smooth out your under eyes really really nicely! Great option if you want something that looks a bit more matte. At least on me it does not look or feel drying.

All of these concealers work great for me. They are meant for different uses and for sure not all of them will fit all of you, but I tried to point out their performance so you can decide for yourself. If you want good coverage for instance then obviously avoid that one from bare minerals, and don’t buy the NARS one if you can’t stand a matte finish. However, I find all of these to work great and I will happily use every single one of them depending on what I want that day. I would recommend every single one, and I will repurchase every single one too!

Did you try any of these, and what do you think? What would your top 5 pick be? Leave a comment and let me know!

Top 3 affordable brands of 2017

I already shared my top 3 luxury and top 3 high-end favorite brands of 2017, so now it is time to present the best affordable brands! Even though I really know how to appreciate a nice luxurious makeup product, nothing is better than finding cheap but great makeup!

These three brands are my favorite because I find that so many of their products are hits despite their low price-point. Normally I get both hits and misses with drugstore brands, and I actually more often than not get a bit disappointed. All of these brands really deserve to be on a top 3 list because I rarely find misses among their product range (there been a few, both no-one is perfect right?). Just three solid brands that I love!

KIKO Milano is an Italian brand that I got to know many many years ago on Holiday in Italy. At that time I could only get anything from the brand while traveling since they did not ship internationally, but they have since expanded their reach and I am (thankfully) able to order online now.

KIKO has so much good stuff! They have exciting releases during the different seasons with fairly affordable prices, but you can very often snatch up things for sale for an unbeatable price!

There are so many things I would like to recommend from this brand I barely know where to start. If you have been paying attention to my makeup looks you know that I use their eyeliner pencils fairly often. The cream eyeshadows, both in pots and stick form, are incredible and will stay put all day without budging. They also have some very good blushers and lipsticks as well.

IMG_20171217_122433_847.jpg

My Colourpop collection has been growing at an impressive speed in 2017. I just got my first Colourpop products in late 2016, but with their affordable prices and tons of new, exciting releases this year I got to try plenty from the brand. From just shadows and lip-products my Colourpop collection has now grown to a collection of  everything from blush-palettes, highlighter-palettes, concealer, setting spray, custom eyeshadow palette, regular eyeshadow palettes, lip-liner, bronzer, liquid eyeshadows….well, to almost everything! I am just sitting here waiting for their release of a foundation or two, because I really enjoyed the concealer.

IMG_20171217_122500_870.jpg

Off course Zoeva had to be mentioned as well. Even though they are mostly known for their excellent quality brushes, they do have some high quality makeup for a great price! I am adoring their eyeshadow palettes. As you can tell from the picture I’ve collected quite a few, but you are not even seeing it all! The quality of the shadows are really really good, and the sleek packaging is really nice to store or travel with. I highly recommend that you check out their eyeshadows because their are highly underrated and I just can’t understand why people don’t talk more about them!

The Zoeva Brow Spectrum palette is also worth a look if you are into brow powders! With 6 brow shades and 3 highlighter shades you really have all you need for some great brows!

And off course. Their brushes are incredible!

Do you have any favorite brands for 2017 that stood out for you? Let me know in the comments!

My 10 favorite red lipsticks

Red lips are a staple in the holidays. So I kind of should have posted this earlier if any of you wanted suggestions for red lipsticks to wear. I just can’t make everything on time I guess. But there is a saying in my country that says Christmas lasts all the way until Easter. So you still have some time to wear plenty of red lipstick during the holidays according to that saying.

But, if you are anything like me you would think that red lipstick can be worn to almost any occasion. I think it is just so flattering on most people so I am really excited to share some fantastic red lipsticks with you!

IMG_20171222_082959_854.jpg

There is a bit of everything here! Luxury lipsticks, high-end lipsticks, and super affordable lipstick. Glossy lips, matte lips, liquid lips and creamy lips. So I think I picked something for everyone here. But lets get to know these one my one shall we?

img_20171222_083520_687.jpg

KIKO Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick –  114 Lichi:

This is a creamy, rich red with a glossy finish. KIKO has a very nice way of making products with exclusive looking packaging like this gunmetal and gold packaging while still keeping the price very low. This feels like a high-end lipstick for a drugstore price. It is not just good for being drugstore, it is overall a great lipsick!

The lipstick itself is creamy and super comfortable.

Price: 12 $.

IMG_20171222_083241_475.jpg

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – Arriba:

I guess you all know Colourpops long lasting liquid lipstick formula? Some people find it a bit drying, and I guess it is, but I don’t have much trouble with them since my lips are not dry in the first place. But I can see why some people may struggle with them. If you are not bothered with dry lips the beautiful bold warm true red shade Arriba! is well worth a try. One of my most loved Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip shades. And the price is unbeatable!

Price: 6 $.

IMG_20171222_083152_805.jpg

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense – 03 Mightiest Maraschino:

These chubby sticks was very popular a few years ago and so many brands released them. It is a very handy, and easy to apply packaging with the crayon like lipsticks. The Clinique Chubby Sticks are like a very intensely colored balms with a shiny but opaque finish. Very comfy, and so easy to apply that you don’t have to worry about lip-liner.

Price: 17.5 $.

IMG_20171222_083303_370.jpg

Kiss Me Liquid Lip – Poison Apple:

Now, these lippies are a bit harder to get a hold of because you have to be subscribed to the LiveGlam liquid lipstick subscription where you get 3 liquid lipsticks each month. This shade was in the October 2017 bundle, but the old shades are still available for new subscribers. You just exchange one of the upcoming shades you don’t think you will use with one of the old ones, or use the bonus points you collect. So it is still available even though you can’t pick it up at a store.

I really love this shade though, and it is a super comfortable, long-wearing lipstick. The frosted glass packaging is gorgeous as well.

Price: Subscription is 19.99 $ monthly for 3 liquid lipsticks.

IMG_20171222_083501_307.jpg

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick – Wifey:

When it comes to liquid lipstick formulas that dry down completely, this is my absolute favorite formula! So lightweight and comfortable, but still transfer proof and very long-lasting. The shade Wifey is a beautiful red that was launched in the Family collection this fall. It is still available though! Highly recommended formula.

Price: 18 $.

IMG_20171222_083413_768.jpg

Dior Rouge Dior Liquid – 999:

Classic red by Dior. With a luxurious, long, sleek and elegant packaging. A beautiful an intense red liquid lip that does not dry down, but still last for a very long time. Up to 12 hours if you believe Dior, around 6 hours if you want to believe me. The most comfortable matte lip of all lipsticks mentioned today.

Price: 35 $.

img_20171222_083438_601.jpg

Makeupgeek Iconic Lipstick – Elegant:

I don’t know why people don’t talk more about Makeugeek lip products because they are really great for an affordable price. The Iconic lipsticks are highly pigmented with a shiny finish. This shade stains the lips, which makes it looks very good even when it is fading away. Some red lipsticks can looks really nasty when they start disappearing, but this one fades nicely into a pretty stain. The sleek gunmetal packaging makes it look edgy and cool.

Price: 15 $.

img_20171222_083338_718.jpg

Colourpop Lippie Stix – Bossy (matte):

The Lippie stix may be better for you if you can’t really make the Ultra Matte Lip work for you. This is highly pigmented but contains shea butter and vitamin E to nourish your lips. The finish is matte without feeling drying. It feels a bit more heavy on the lips than say the Dior one, but it is still pretty good.

This is once again just a classic red that would look great on everyone! They also have a matching lip pencil in the same shade. I find these lippie stix to be so intensely pigmented that they do indeed need a lip liner to get that nice sharp edge.

Price: 6 $.

IMG_20171222_083219_347.jpg

MAC Lipstick – Russian Red (matte):

It is impossible to talk about red lipstick without mentioning one of MAC’s iconic red shades. My favorite of them are Russian Red, but I have to mention that both Ruby Woo and Lady Danger are very pretty reds as well.

The iconic well-known packaging and famous shade makes this a cult product.

Price: 17.5 $.

IMG_20171222_083356_034.jpg

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats – 203:

You know the lipstick is fancy when it has a long french name you can’t pronounce. This just screams holidays to me with the classic velvet matte red shade and the golden packaging. This was the shade I wore last Christmas eve and on all the Christmas parties last year.

Pretty classy and luxurious!

Price: 37 $.

IMG_20171222_083130_152.jpg

Swatches side by side you get an idea about what they look like compared to each other. They are arranged in the same order as they are in the post, and to make it easier the overview picture below shows the order of the swatches as well with the KIKO lipstick to the far left and the YSL far right.

IMG_20171222_083030_776.jpg

So, that is all 10 of my current favorite red shades. I would love to know what your favorite reds are!

If you are celebrating Christmas I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday so far!

Top 3 high-end makeup brands of 2017!

I already posted a blog post writing about my top 3 luxury makeup brands for 2017 (read here if you like some luxury makeup!), and there will be a post with top three affordable brands coming shortly, so stay tuned if you’d like to read that!

But this post is all about the high-end brands I’ve been loving in 2017. I have really been expanding my collection this year and I’ve tried a lot of makeup from brands that I maybe only had a few products from before. Picking  three hid-end brands was actually really hard since I’ve been testing out so much from so many brands. There are so many out there that I really like, but I managed to narrow it down eventually.

IMG_20171217_122325_130.jpg

Smashbox was a brand I barely new in the beginning of 2017. Off course I’ve heard tons about their primers, but I only had a small gel liner pot and a lip & cheek color from before, so they were quite unfamiliar to me as a brand. I still have a lot of things I want to test out from them, I’ve been eyeing their liquid lipsticks for quite some time now, but I’ve managed to try out quite a few different things and guess what? I like every single product I’ve tried!

Primers are worth to mention, and I really fell in love with the Primer oil! It works wonders if my skin is a bit dry, which can happen when the season change. It also works great at reviving Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadows! If they start to dry out then just use a small drop of the primer oil and rub it over the surface and the shadow is almost as good as new.

The Halo face powder is also amazing, and actually feels hydration. I know, super weird that a powder can seem hydrating, but that’s the best way I can explain it. The HD concealer is also so sooo good (I personally like it better than the shape tape) but it was hiding in my makeup bag for this picture.

The highlighting trio is also top notch!

Overall very happy with this brand and I can’t wait to try out more. The Ablaze eyeshadow palette, the primerizer spray and their liquid lipsticks are all very high on my wishlist.

IMG_20171217_122140_829.jpg

The Balm is to quirky and fun! I adore their different and humoristic packaging. This is also a brand I’ve learned a lot about in 2017 since I only had a couple of product by them in the beginning of the year, among them I can mention the Mary Lou-Manizer that is an iconic highlighter that’s been out there for years and years but is still going very strong in the always increasing highlighter game. Mary Lou must surely be a cult product by now?

They just do face powders very well in general. Bronzers, blushers, highlighters and powders, great stuff all of it! I think Big Mama must be my favorite of their blushes. A very close dupe to NARS Orgasm, just better formula in my opinion!

And also, their liquid lipsticks smells like mint chocolate….Yummi!

IMG_20171217_122400_894-1.jpg

And let’s not forget about Tarte! This again is also a brand I really expanded my collection of this year.

Before 2017 I only had the Tartelette palette. Now I tried everything from blush, bronzers, highlighters concealer and several of their palettes. Not everything is a perfect hit, but that’s just because I am picky. The quality of their product is really good. They are off course famous for their shape tape, which I really like but it is not groundbreaking for me, but the things I love the most are their Park Ave Princess bronzer, their blush formula and I really like their eyeshadow formula as well. I am a big fan of their packaging as well, which is always a bonus.

Just a lovely brand that I cant wait to see more of in 2018!

What is your favorite high-end brand? Do we have any in common?
