I don’t think I’ve ever tried a primer from Revolution Pro (or Makeup Revolution for that matter) so this is new territory for me where I had no idea what to expect. But that makes it more exciting right? Or does it maybe just increase the chance of purchasing a product that fails to work for me? Either was, although Revolution Pro is a more “luxurious” sister brand to Makeup Revolution they still have very wallet friendly product.
This primer looks really nice though! I mean, the product is only 10£, but you get a nice frosted glass bottle with a pump that feels much more luxurious than what I have come to expect from affordable products. It looks and feels expensive! And I am not complaining.
The primer is not stingy on product either as it contains 30 ml which is the regular amoung for a foundation or a primer.
The product itself has the density of a face cream, so not too watery, and not as thick as the typical silicone based primers. It applies evenly and quick to the face.
After application my skin looked improved. It kind of looks that I just put on a moustirizer, and the skin just looks very healthy. It does seem to even out and smoothen the appearance of my skin. I had no issues with applying foundation on top. I tried both matte and hydrating foundations, and they went on nicely. Off course, a matte foundation will counteract the glow, so if you want glow from this primer you need to make sure you use a foundation that does not cover it up completely.
I have to say I am a bit confused about the name though. Surely, when you apply the primer it gives your skin kind of a glow, but not any more than you would get from a moisturizer, and it’s not really enough to glow through a foundation unless you use a very very light coverage one. I think the primer would be better off being called perfecting primer or something along those lines, because I do think it improves the apperance and smoothness of my skin, and makes foundation apply nicely on top, but after the foundation was applied I didn’t really see and glow. I mean, if I compare with the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter for instance, I can see that my foundation is more dewy and glowy.
I do really enjoy the primer though! I like how it makes my skin look and feel, I like how foundation looks on top of it, I like the packaging and I like the price. So I don’t think this is a bad primer at all, on the contrary! I just don’t think it makes me look like a glowing goddess.
It does make my skin look even, healty and slightly blurred so I have actually enjoyed just using this on it’s own when I could not be bothered putting on a full face of makeup. It made me feel like I looked healthy, which I kind of enjoy looking healthy.
So I absolutely like this primer, and I can see myself picking this up again, but if you were looking fore something to actually add a glowy finish after you put on foundation, than this is not the product you are looking for.
So besides the name being a bit missleading I do think this product is a hit for me.
