I went into this month fairly confident that I would not pick up too much. After all I still had untouched stuff in my drawers waiting to be reviewed and tested. I promise you, trying out your new stuff takes so much more time when your intention is to finally put out a review of it. I mean, you can’t just put something on your face twice, say “OK, I like this” and then produce a review. Or at least I can’t. I like to take my time. Things need a full wear test, all colors needs to be tested, can I eat with this lipstick and how does this foundation look after 12 hours. You get the point….there is only so much time, and I was quite generous to myself in June and things piled up.
Besides I have been building a roof recently, and spending a lot of my time in the mountains, which means I had my share of bare faced days (which I love too!).
Even though I thought I would not get that much, I kind of did. So some of these are things I picked up in July (or even June, things can easily take 4+ weeks in shipping to Norway), but I still got a decent amount of stuff. Besides I know about everything that’s on it’s way in the mail too.
But before we dive into it, this is just a friendly reminder that if you would like to see a review of something please shout it out it the comments. Things are guaranteed to be reviewed faster if I know there is something that is particularly interesting for you. So don’t be shy, because I want to know what you want to read! Enough rambling, let’s look at all the new stuff!
Some necessaries first! I am running out of the brow pencil I used for work so I picked up two brow products on sale. The L’Oreal Paradise Pomade in Light Blonde. It’s the only shade they had and not at all my preferred one, but for a very natural and soft look it could work. It was on sale so it was mostly to try the formula, since it was basically free I didn’t have much to loose. If the color is awful I still get to try the formula to decide if it’s wort picking up my correct shade. The other brow product is a H&M Brow Maker Duo in the shade Ash Brown, and this shade is perfect for everyday wear. It has a pencil in one end and brow gel in the other. So smart!
I also picked up the Ardell Flawless Lashes in 804 because they look beautiful, and the L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Hippie Mascara.
The September Rose brand is very new to me, and I haven’t tried anything from them before. But when I saw the Slush Eyeshadow Palette I could not resist. It’s big and beautiful with a lot of fun colors. Besides I love testing out indie brands!
This guy has been on my wish list for so long. I have been waiting for it to come back in stock on Beautylish but it just never happened. I got a bit worried this was disappearing since it’s a limited edition palette, and I had to pick it up from Sephora instead. Natasha Denona has my favorite eyeshadow formula, so even though it’s pricey (to say the least!) to me they are worth it. The Tropic Eyeshadow Palette is therefore a much welcome part in my collection.
This loose setting powder Guerlain Les Voilettes Translucent Loose Powder Mattifying Veil was something I was lucky enough to get second hand for next to nothing. I love getting makeup second hand because so many people have stuff just laying around that they don’t use, and it’s such a good idea to re-home them. Do you ever buy makeup second hand?
This one is in prime condition and has lots of product left.
I also got the Guerlain Terracotta Sun in The City Golden Glimmer Powder second hand, and as you can see this is in supreme condition. So much fun to find collection pieces like this, and I am not complaining to get a solid knock-off of the high Guerlain price tag either.
I’ve been wanting this since it came out, and I finally got around to it and picked up the Anastasia Dream Glowkit.I didn’t realize it had that much glitter in it. Good thing I like to collect because I am not sure how much use I will get out of this. Oh well, shame on me for not swatching it in store, and I have to try it on my face before giving it a final verdict too.
A small parcel from Zoeava arrived with the Zoeva Cafè Eyeshadow Palette and the Zoeava Bamboo Crease Brush. If you haven’t tried Zoeva brushes or eyeshadows you are missing out! This palette looks so gorgeous and I am particularly drawn to the green in the middle of the top row. So pretty!
Even though festival season is over, and maybe also the colors are more for spring and summer (Who am I kidding? I use any shade whenever I want, it’s makeup, you can do whatever you want!) I just had to have this in the end. I have been debating it for so long. I had 4 BH Cosmetics palette in the past, and I decluttered 3 because the quality was not exactly what I wanted, but this one has been raved so much about and I eventually gave in. I did swatch it a bit right after I got it, and I am not sad about it though. I can tell just from swatching that this is waaaaay better than those I decluttered.
As you may know I am constantly working on building up my Juvia’s Place palette collection, and I am adding piece by piece. This month I picked up the Saharan II palette. It’s so much more beautiful than what I’d imagined. I know all Juvia’s Place palettes are good though, for me they just work really well.
I always make a separate post about my lip bundle form the Liveglam KissMe Liquid Lipstick Subscription, so you can read ll about these shades and how they performed here.
And off course I picked up the Colourpop X Kathleen Lights Zodiac Collection. Every single piece of it actually. I think everything looks so pretty and I bet I will get a lot of use out of them. Despite not being a fan of the super shock shadow, I actually really light the highlighter version. I am under the impression that they don’t dry out that quick.
I also picked up three new Morphe brushes through my MorpheMe subscription. A powder brush, a blending brush and a pencil brush. I am currently working on building my brush collection. I always use clean brushes when I do eye makeup, and when I get creative I run through my brushes quickly. So I am trying to build up the collection, and particularly detail eye brushes are something I really fancy.
Lastly I didn’t plan on buying this at all, but when BeautyBay had a sale The Lunar Beauty Life’s A Drag became a new addition to my palette collection. I kind of with the outside was as pretty as the inside to be honest, and the reason why I didn’t want it in the first place was the cover design. I could not resist a good discount though and the inside (which is always what counts, for both palettes and humans).
I am looking forward to getting to know these products more. Did you get anything exciting in August?
