Looxie Beauty Eyeshadows – 6 Makeup Looks, Review & Swatches!

The past couple of months I have been trying to pick up and try more unknown brands. I am currently in a single pan collecting addiction, and I wanted to find something new fun and exciting to collect. I decided to try Looxie beauty along with Devinah and Lethal Cosmetics since I have heard good things about them all, and their color selection seemed interresting to me. All these brands will get their own post where I share my thought on them, but today it is all about Looxie.

My only regret when ordering these it that I did not pick up all the different formulas. I picked up shimmers (Amber, November Rain), Auroras (Limelight, Omega, Bohemian and Metals (Bubbly) and Precious Metals 2 (Deep, Ruby Reign, Platinum Pink), but not any of the mattes. So sadly I can’t consider the quality of the mattes in this review.

I ordered a few shades just to get a feel of them. Well, I ordered a magnetic palette with the brand name on it and some additional shades just after swatching them. I fell in love before I put them on my eyes. They do indeed swatch like a dream. Especially the Precious Metals 2 formula, that is supposed to be an improvement of their Metal formula is like hyper-pigmented butter. You know when you swatch a shade and you just got “WOOOOW”. That’s how these swatch.

The shadow names are (left to right): Limelight, Dream On, November Rain, Deep, Omega, Ruby Reign, Bubbly, Platinum Pink, Bohemian, Amber, Root Beer.

And here they are shown without flash (top) and with flash (bottom). I could just sit and swatch shades like these all day.

However, everyone who has tried a lot of different formulas know that sometime a shade can swatch beautifully, but not transfer that well to the eyes. Since these shades swatch so intense and rich, I did not expect this to be the case with these. But while reading around on the web I did found several reviews of people who did not think these performed as well on the eyes as they expected. I started to think I may have rushed the decision of picking up more of these even before I tried the first order on my eyes. After all, I want them to perform on the eyes and not on swatches. I don’t really wear swatches in that way.

So, only way to figure out my own opinion about them is to try them myself right? So I did, and I created a little selection of looks to be able to do a proper evaluation of them. Sadly I did not pick up any matte or base shades, so I needed to pull out my Urban Decay Ultimate Basics for assistance with base shades.

So what is the verdict after doing 6 looks for this blog, and using the shadows a bit in my everyday life as well? The verdict is that I wish I had ordered some mattes so I would be able to do a more complete review of the selection Looxie offers. So note to self: Make sure to pick up all the different finishes!

But I do have some thought on the performance of these shades that I have. The short version is: I will definitely pick up more shades. Actually I will probably fill up the whole extra large Z-Palette, and maybe still want more. In other words, I really like the looks of them.

However, I do have some slight issues to point out. They may be a problem for you. For me personally I can work around it, but I realize some of you may prefer other brands at a similar cost taking things into consideration.

They do swatch wonderfully. Absolutely perfect I would say. You will get the same intensity on your eyes, but not as easily as with a swatch. I found that using a flay shader brush, and bit more pressure than I normally apply eyeshadows with they go on pretty well, but you may have to go over a few times to get the right intensity. My favorite brush to use with these were a Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush or a MAC 242. I found that Ruby Reign could use some help with a dampened brush, but I think the other shades gave up enough intensity without dampening. I did also use them with a fluffy Sigma blending brush while using them for more simple everyday looks and for that purpose a fluffy brush works just fine. I didn’t have any problems making them work for me, but off course if you expect to apply them to the lids with the same ease and smoothness they swatch with then you may be dissapointed. Building them up to full impact was not a problem though.

One other thing is that they are soft. Really soft. After fairly little use they look pretty loved and worn. No problem for me. I have too many eyeshadows anyway so most things I won’t use up anyway. Most likely not these either. I would for this reason alone be careful to travel with them. I suspect that they will easily be damaged even though they are snugly packed in a Z-Palette. On the other hand I find soft shadows like this to work very smoothly, and I think this is the case with these ones as well.

The colors are truly beautiful, and these pictures don’t show them any proper justice what so ever. Several of them, like Limelight, have a beautiful shift to it that my photography skills and bad lighting are not able to capture, sadly. I am very happy with the colors, and once applied on the lid they look incredible. If you can deal with an extra effort applying them, and don’t mind that they are quite soft and crumbly, them I really would recommend these because the colors themselves are pretty gorgeous! They are stunning actually! For a price of just 5$ each trying them out will at least not break the bank.

I am excited to put in my next order and will for sure remember to add some mattes! I can also give you a little spoiler and tell you that some of these shades I have been absolutely loving in July and will make an appearance in my monthly favorites. Not bad at all Looxie, not bad at all!

Did you try shadows from this brand? I would love to hear your opinion!

XOXO

Mufavorites!
