Glitter is always fun to play around with, and I really enjoyed creating this shattered glass-effect look. The Base is a simple dark smoky eye.
I put a layer of MAC cream color base all over my lid up to the crease as a base, and blended it out. I applied on one eye at the time just to ensure that I was able to blend out properly before the cream dried. I also added plenty of really black eyeliner in my waterline and along my lashline. The Maybelline Master Drama KΓ΄hl pencil is perfect for that use. Super creamy and intense black. I am almost out of the one I have so I need a new one soon!
It is so obvious if the blending is not perfect in black smoky eyes, so the most important part is just to keep blending and adding just a little bit of color at the time.
I used shades from the Anastasia Prism palette only. I chose this palette for that look because the black shade Obsidian is a perfect intense black. If must be among my very best blacks in my whole collection! You can read my full review of the palette here if you want!
I’ll just insert a picture of the palette so you can see exactly what shades I am talking about:
A dark brown is perfect for blending out a black smoky eye, because if you blend out with black it often gets a bit harsh and the dakr shades can easily transfer a bit too high. I think a dark brown creates a softer and more tidy effect. I used Paralell from the Prism palette to do that.
Unity was off course my Lid color. I always put down a base to make the rest of my eyeshadows blend more easily.
In the end I just used some Fyrinnea Pixie Epoxy which is a tacky base to make sure loose pigments and glitters get stuck to the eye, and then a patted on the glitter with a flat brush. The bigger pieces under the eye and inner and outer corner are glued on with lash adhesive.
- Anastasia Prism Palette – Unity, Parallel, Obsidian
- MAC Paint Pot – Blackground
- Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Pencil – Ultra Black
- Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara – Black
- House of Lashes – Boudoir
- Born Pretty Glitter – Holographic
- Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.
- Zoeva Brow Spectrum – Bro30
After all that glitter was in place all I had to do was to add mascara, lashes and brows.
Super simple look, but I really like the effect! Hope you like it too.
XOXO

Well, me too! I guess you would not want to wear this one for work right? π I find it to be a nice palette for smoky eyes though. That black is just excellent! π

Really beautiful and inventive. Did you find the pieces stuck on irritating after a while? I think I’d be tempted to keep touching them haha xx

Actually, they are intended for nail art, and I did not dare to wear this look other than for the pictures. I could feel the glitter scratch quite fast. Only eye-safe glitter should be used (note to self) π

Oh I see! Yeah I thought it would be uncomfortable. But it looked wonderful anyway, even if it was just for your pics xx

Yes, it did π But I would not recommend them on the eyes. I haven’t found any glitter whit that shape that is safe for eyes. I guess it is too scratchy πΆ I bet they are pretty on nails though π
